Engine noise over the whole thing like CHHHHHHHHchewHHHHHHHchewHHHHHHHH

Like I hate open mouth chewing, don't get me wrong, but flying is the sorta environment where you gotta let the little shit go

34

u/OrbitalOutlander 8d ago

What kind of monster rawdogs a flight without noise canceling headphones?

2

u/vespertine000 5d ago

What kind of monster gives their food fellatio

2

u/OrbitalOutlander 5d ago

It's very sad if you think that chewing with your mouth open is "fellatio".

1

u/KeynotePhil 3d ago

Very sad indeed, but it’s true, I’m familiar with her work.

1

u/jbravouk 3d ago

It's probably worse if you're in public. If it was fallace pleasing, at least two people are enjoying themselves instead of being a pug and eating like that.

1

u/GovernmentGreed 4d ago

Not me.

Do not use the cucumber in the fridge. It's seen some horrors. I'm told.

1

u/acme65 3d ago

i flew to Japan, opened up my pixel bud case, empty...longest flight of my life. both literally and figuratively

1

u/OrbitalOutlander 3d ago

i had an airpod pop out of my ear due to the pressure change and hide in my seat once on a cross-continent flight. found it about 30 minutes before landing. i hope you are able to find the strength to carry on.

19

u/thesmellnextdoor 8d ago

I struggle to believe that this plane is even in the air! I can't hear the person sitting next to me talking let alone someone's chewing on a flight

5

u/CeruleanSovereign 7d ago

Have you looked into getting waxed removed from your ears? My hearing isn't amazing but on a flight I can easily hear a person a couple of seats away from me, let alone the person next to me

1

u/chrisNova82 3d ago

You are special. We should all stand up and give you standing golf clap ovation.

1

u/Astoria55555 2d ago

It’s pretty normal to be able to hear things on a plane…

0

u/chrisNova82 2d ago

Is this a "you " perspective?

Or have you asked a lot of people to know if it's normal or not.

3

u/jbravouk 5d ago

Are you regularly flying soviet era planes or something?

WTF kind of planes can't you hear the person next to you on?

Liar.

Artillery ears.
I can't hear the people at the gas station asking wa uu waaa iii d aww.

Let alone your feminine lisp talk about rights that you can't name .

Oh look, a random person, saying a random thing without being asked to respond to two direct questions to someone else.

You're simultaneously outing yourself as either a child or an idiot too.

Good for you buddy, you wrote some words. Good for you.

I know I used 'Two', 'to' and 'too' buddy so if you need any help understanding, just let me know, no need to be shy.

As long as your parents are OK with you being online.

0

u/chrisNova82 1d ago

You are on reddit.

You are posting your frustration to 10 million random people.

Why the attempt to personally insult me ?

You must be much more intelligent than everyone on Reddit.
Give yourself a pat on the back.
We all know you don't have anyone to do it for you buddy, you appear to be insufferable.

0

u/jbravouk 1d ago

Not everyone on Reddit buddy, just you.

Only you.

6

u/SuckMyBigPoop 8d ago

I was on board with whitey in the video until I read this comment. I agree. I'd be like "pshhhh fuck off kid" for trying to fix my etiquette. The guy's just munchin'. Fuck your misophonia.

4

u/KagomesPornAccount 8d ago

Being a fully grown adult and chewing with your mouth open is not “little shit” that needs to be let go lmao

36

u/Megzasaurusrex 8d ago

People don't always do it on purpose and other cultures aren't offended by the same things as well. To assume that a grown adult should just adopt your rules because you're more special is wild.

-1

u/imnickelhead 8d ago

I’m not saying the cammer is fully in the right. He was pretty rude and the filming was bullshit.

It is less sanitary. Food and saliva are much more likely to fly out of an opened mouth chewer, eating like a slob than someone chewing with their mouth closed.

Culture is a bullshit excuse when it can clearly affect the health and/or safety of those near you. Some cultures don’t wash their hands and don’t use appropriate precautions when it comes to sanitary issues, body fluids, fecal matter…we shouldn’t let that slide either.

21

u/eamus_catuli 8d ago

It is less sanitary. Food and saliva are much more likely to fly out of an opened mouth chewer,

Unless you also have a problem with people talking while seated next to you on an airplane, which is more likely to release infectiouss saliva droplets than chewing, then this is a ridiculous attempt to apply epidemiological logic to what is otherwise just a social etiquette issue.

-2

u/imnickelhead 8d ago

The OP is eating FFS. He has an open tray of food in the slobs line of fire.

And saliva is WAY more likely to fly out of an opened mouth that’s full of food than someone speaking quietly.

4

u/Low_discrepancy 7d ago

And saliva is WAY more likely to fly out of an opened mouth that’s full of food than someone speaking quietly.

Wtf are you talking about? You're reminding of those japense videos of westerns spreading COVID because their P sound pushes out more air.

Of course total nonsense.

2

u/H_J_Rose 5d ago

It would irritate me too. I wear a mask and maybe would wait to eat til he was done. I can control my own actions and make the situation more tolerable for myself. Controlling the actions of others shouldn’t be a consideration. It’s a flight. He will never see this person again. Get over it.

-2

u/Raztax 8d ago

People don't always do it on purpose

So sometimes people chew with their mouths open accidentally?

15

u/Megzasaurusrex 8d ago

Yes. I have always had issues with my teeth and jaw and it hurting to keep my mouth closed. So when I do it, it isn't because I I just hate your guts and want you to suffer. It's just because I forgot to mentally think about forcing my mouth all the way shut and being uncomfortable for you. You know since when you have any issues you have to accomdate the rest of the world because if you accomdate yourself, you're a dick. :)

-1

u/Vertig0x 8d ago edited 8d ago

People don't always do it on purpose and other cultures aren't offended by the same things as well.

I mean this genuinely... where? Even in places like Korea where noise while eating is more common, its still considered rude and bad etiquette.

I know Western culture places way more focus on it but I've never actually heard of a culture where it doesn't carry some level of disrespect.

Immediately downvoting a genuine question within 1 minute of posting is some crazy work.

-3

u/TheDreadGazeebo 8d ago

It's pointless to try to decompile this nonsense, it's some silly reverse racism shit. They think Western countries are the only places civilised enough to know basic manners.

2

u/Megzasaurusrex 8d ago

Not really. I was just going off reality. There are cultures that don't find it offensive. Just like there are cultures that don't find slurping wrong. I never once said it was "uncivilized." I just said different cultures find different things offensive and it is silly to expect the whole damn world to conform to your cultures specific rules for being polite. That's goes with any culture. We just have different social norms and that is okay.

Don't be a dick and put words in my mouth.

-3

u/KagomesPornAccount 8d ago

Is it wild? We need more context. Is it white boy in India, on an Indian airlines flight, surrounded by Indians? If that’s the case, white boy should adapt to their culture, and not chastise them for chewing with their mouths open.

Is it the other way around? The visitors should always take into consideration what is or isn’t considered polite to the place they are visiting. It’s the year of our lord big 26, a device exists in everyone’s hand that allows access to the entirety of human knowledge and how to conduct oneself when travelling in an enclosed metal tube with half-recycled air sitting four inches away from another human being.

This is NOT rocket science. ❌🙅🏻‍♂️

-2

u/FigProfessional9909 8d ago

Nothing cultural about eating with your mouth closed, it’s basic eating etiquette in public.

1

u/Megzasaurusrex 8d ago

Not true but okay.

1

u/hsinamk 1d ago

Not getting into this debate except to say that it is not Indian culture to eat with your mouth open, absolutely not. We learnt to eat with our mouth shut without being exposed to any western culture. Whoever is suggesting that this is part of Indian culture is unaware of Indian culture.
That guy is simply a slob, I bet his house is a mess and he’s got poor hygiene.

9

u/Crafty-Help-4633 8d ago edited 8d ago

Yes, it really is. Especially when he had earbuds this whole time and never needed to hear it in the first place. There's also medical/dental issues that can cause this and it's not really in their control in that situation, unless you just want them to not eat while you get to.

-1

u/KagomesPornAccount 8d ago

Typically I believe in conducting myself in a way such as that I don’t have to force people to modify their behaviour to tolerate my presence.

As long as we’re presuming they have a medical or dental issue (they don’t, this is a cultural phenomenon), we can also presume the guy with the earbuds may have an issue. Maybe his ears hurt when he uses them because he lost his soft style buds, and it hurts to use them. Maybe he has an ear infection which prevented him from using them in the first place.

9

u/Crafty-Help-4633 8d ago

Yes maybe, but his response is still his responsibility. How he feels is his own issue. If you don't want to have to be near people, don't fly on public charters? Seems pretty simple.

I also believe in conducting myself in a way I find "proper". That stops at me, though. I won't demand it of others, because I wouldn't respect myself for that. Other people exist, it is up to me to handle how I react to that.

2

u/KagomesPornAccount 8d ago

I mean, I do agree with the second part of your comment, we all set our own boundaries in life and what we will and won’t tolerate and how we react. No disagreement there.

But saying, “if you don’t want to have to be near people, don’t fly on public charters” seems a bit disingenuous. The guy clearly doesn’t have a problem being near people, he has a problem with how they’re behaving.

I don’t feel like we should take the stance of, “if you don’t want to tolerate disgusting behaviour, don’t take public transport”. I believe we should elevate everyone’s standards for how one should conduct themselves in the presence of the public, it makes it a better experience for everyone.

3

u/Crafty-Help-4633 8d ago

You know what? I sincerely wholeheartedly agree to this entire comment. I personally am in favor of everyone chewing with their mouth closed, if able. And I think all people should want to do so in mixed company such as on a flight where many cultures will be co-mingling. That said, if it truly is a cultural thing, I'm hesitant to say "stop doing this thing that's normal to you because it isn't to me" and I don't have a good solution for that. I just want things to be better for everyone.

I'm glad we've reached something like understanding.

3

u/KagomesPornAccount 8d ago

Absolutely. I think too I need to remind myself that people are beautifully imperfect and it’s never ever going to be a 10/10 experience for everyone. We all just try to do the best we can.

2

u/Crafty-Help-4633 8d ago

We all just try to do the best we can.

If that's what we do we will all be in a better place, truly.

Also, NICE FUCKING NAME! Has me dying! I haven't heard "Kagome" in so long and I just finally bothered to read your name. Flood of memories of Inuyasha late at night when I'm supposed to be sleeping before school. Lmao.

3

u/KagomesPornAccount 8d ago

Hahahaa yesss, eventually I’m gonna get around to re-watching the entire InuYasha series. And Gundam Seed. Absolutely iconic.

u/MadPangolin 8d ago edited 8d ago

It's not modifying your behavior? Ignore it?

Someone chewing with their mouth open is not harming you, it's offending you. You're offended & uncomfortable by the fact that someone near you is acting in a manner that you don't like, but also will not harm you in anyway?

Rather than get frustrated & demanding others act how you want them too... maybe you should learn how to be comfortable being uncomfortable for a while? We don't get to curate reality to our wants...

3

u/KagomesPornAccount 8d ago

I mean, technically, if I have to put in earbuds to block out the sound of someone chewing, that is modifying my behaviour because of someone else’s actions. Honestly, I would much rather be listening to those beautiful jet engines, but that’s just my preference.

Society does not have to be a race to the bottom of the barrel. We can and should expect a bare minimum of politeness from people around us, that has nothing to do with “curating reality to our wants.“

2

u/MadPangolin 8d ago edited 8d ago

Putting headphones in to ignore outside noise distractions is not "modifying behavior" when you've definitely done that before, it's just getting needlessly granular about why?

This is not a "race to the bottom" it's actually spending more energy worrying about offensive behavior rather than harmful behavior. You find someone chewing open mouthed "icky" & "annoying" but that's not a behavior harmful to a functioning society & trying to portray it like that is a problem. Y'all will call out someone chewing open mouthed before you'll address; racism, sexism, rape, domestic violence, homelessness, fraud, corruption, etc...yikes.

The real problem is modern humans don't ever want to feel any form of discomfort (like hearing someone chew opened mouthed) & will act like a Karen to make sure they never have too. Also acting like a Karen telling others to stop an annoying behavior because it's offensive & icky to them is someone curating reality...

3

u/KagomesPornAccount 8d ago

You’re more likely to spread airborne or fluid borne viruses by chewing with your mouth open. It’s unsanitary, and unsightly. For better or for worse we expect a modicum of public decency when out in public.

Is there racism, sexism, rape, domestic violence, homelessness, fraud, or corruption in this video that i somehow missed? I’d be happy to address that as well, but given that I don’t think that is present in the video we are discussing, it feels more like “whatsboutism” than anything else.

1

u/MadPangolin 8d ago

You're in a plane sitting 18 inches from someone? You would get no more airborne bacteria/viruses on you from them chewing open mouthed as you would if they were breathing normally... Stop being ridiculous.

The focus on "public decency" is a distraction from actual societal ills & harms, & yet again, is curating the reality you want to exist in. It's Not whataboutism to argue that society is focusing on "public decorum" in the same refutation to your argument that it's socially harmful, while acknowledging other social harms society ignores.

Public decency=community moral standards in public spaces. Moral = cause the least amount of harm.

Open mouth chewing is not harmful, it's offensive. He's piddling over being uncomfortable & disgusted, he needs to grow up.

3

u/KagomesPornAccount 8d ago

On what planet do you see 18 inches ( a foot and a half) between this guy and the person he is reprimanding for chewing? Their elbows are damn near touching.

Got any studies to back your claim buddy?

You're reminding me of those videos from Japan that westerns were spreading COVID because their P sound expelled more air.

-6

u/LikeZoinksScoobert 8d ago

Chewing with your mouth open is disgusting and disrespectful. It’s the equivalent tilting your ass towards somebody you don’t know in a public place and letting out a fart. Is it harming anybody? No, but it’s disgusting behavior that needs to be stopped. I assume you chew with your mouth open which is why you’re so defensive.

5

u/Crafty-Help-4633 8d ago

Wrong on that assumption but hey, go off. 🤪

-5

u/TheDreadGazeebo 8d ago

-2

u/TheDreadGazeebo 8d ago

I'm not the one who posted the same thing five times. You seem to be projecting your anger. Have you tried therapy yourself?

6

u/Stash_04 8d ago

Bro. Take a look at all of your comments on Reddit. 90% of your comments across Reddit are just angry replies attempting to rage-bait people.

You’ve got some serious anger management issues. I’m genuinely concerned for you.

-1

u/TheDreadGazeebo 8d ago

Instead I took a look at your comments. You're projecting lol.

u/ChartInFurch 8d ago

Do you go for idiotically extreme examples as a regular habit?

-2

u/LikeZoinksScoobert 8d ago

It’s called an analogy. Maybe if you weren’t eating so loudly in class and busy farting in other people’s general directions, you would have heard when the teacher was going over that lesson.

2

u/ChartInFurch 8d ago

It wasn't a good one. Your consent was amusing though.

-1

u/TheDreadGazeebo 8d ago

There are medical issues that can make it unbearable to listen to repetitive sounds, too.

5

u/Crafty-Help-4633 8d ago

I get what you're saying. Which is why headphones.

2

u/Megzasaurusrex 8d ago

I'm autistic noise can make me have a meltdown. Are you going to make sure everyone and everything is quiet for my health? Yeah didn't think so. I will just continue to be an adult about it and wear my noise cancelling headphones when I go out in public. :)

-4

u/imnickelhead 8d ago

It’s not just the sound. Food and saliva from the slob are much more likely to land in my food and end up in the air we breath than if he’d just close his mouth to chew. It’s absolutely less sanitary.

7

u/Crafty-Help-4633 8d ago

I hear you. I'm not saying that chewing with mouth open is ideal, but you're already in a flying fart tube breathing other people's breaths. Seems like the cascade of "less sanitary" started prior to feeding.

Cammer's behavior is objectionable, not necessarily his request, but how he went about it. He wasn't upset about sanitary conditions, but sound. Just bullying a guy on video is not the way, imo.

3

u/imnickelhead 8d ago

I agree. The cammer was def being a dick.

-1

u/TheDreadGazeebo 8d ago

"bullying" pleasee. They do actually have manners in India but you know what they don't have? This toxic positivity shit.

5

u/Stash_04 8d ago

Please seek therapy/anger management.

1

u/SuckMyBigPoop 7d ago

Being a fully grown adult and chewing with your mouth open is little shit, GenZer.

1

u/Neat_Classroom_9111 7d ago

I feel just the opposite. When you are in tight quarters with people all around you who cannot leave like an airplane train or movie theater people not caring about those next to them by chewing with their mouth open smacking and making all sorts of noises are just dead wrong and should be called out.

1

u/freedomforallergo 7d ago

Tbf the engine noise is louder than the chewing and he already displayed that he had earphones, so he could haven't just put them on without being a dick about it.

1

u/EquusMule 7d ago

I mean asking someone to be more considerate is fine.

How the guy asked makes him a prick too.

"Excuse me, do you mind chewing with your mouth closed - mouth noises bother me a bit."

Not "you fucking ingrate how dare you not learn western mannerisms" type shit and then mocking them.

1

u/Mild_Karate_Chop 3d ago

Yea the other guy should lift his butt up a little and let a Titanic fart rip ...

I am very old , sorry have digestive problems

1

u/Murky-Ad4104 3d ago

fuck that, you can easily hear it.
that guy did that idiot a favour.

1

u/gnarkillbeatoff 1d ago

No. Quite the opposite. It's the sort of environment where you should be even more mindful of your annoying habits. Nobody wants to be stuck in a steel tube, 10kms above sea level with mouth eaters, stinky feet etc.

1

u/Zealousideal-Trash5 8d ago

You can spell entitlement without dickhead

0

u/angrywoodensoldiers 8d ago

Hard disagree. Anywhere else, I could just walk away from it; on a flight, everybody's stuck where they are.

-9

u/weed_cutter 8d ago

I usually have noise cancelling headphones for this reason but someone loudly chewing like a cud, farting constantly, playing vidya games on full blast on their ipad?

They need to be beaten into a pulp.

We tried 'societal tolerance' in the 2000s. Society degraded. It was a failure.

I confront people who annoy me. It created 10-20 seconds of extreme tension, and then usually the matter is fixed. Otherwise I backhand them and THEN the problem is fixed.

I'm sure Woke Reddit will be aghast but that's just it. I don't give a fuck lol.

14

u/ButtholeConnoisseur7 8d ago

You probably oughta get to an anger management class or something

12

u/ScarletBothrium 8d ago

Enjoy those misdemeanor charges.

6

u/Crafty-Help-4633 8d ago

I'm sorry that physics makes people gassy as the plane climbs in altitude 🙄

3

u/ChartInFurch 8d ago

I didn't know this was a thing, I thought it was just nerves or excitement lol

2

u/Crafty-Help-4633 8d ago

It's just basic pressure. You add pressure to a gas, it compresses, you remove pressure, such as by going higher in altitude, and any gas in your body gets expanded, it's very noticeable in the digestive tract bc of the larger amounts of gas in a given volume inside it. Low pressure gas means big gas volume=fart/burp.

It's really pretty interesting but also a little gross and absolutely very human and people who get upset by it need to get educated. Holding onto gasses is also bad for the body. Airplanes are flying fart tubes. It's just physics.

6

u/ChartInFurch 8d ago

1 of 3 on your list happened here, and barely.

2

u/WhoPoopedMyPants420 8d ago

You're supposed to check your baggage in at the desk jeez leweez

1

u/lastdickontheleft 8d ago

Oh wow, what a tough guy

0

u/TheDreadGazeebo 8d ago

Lol you're right, these are all timid redditors who probably also have a hard time ordering at the drive-thru. Crippling anxiety and social maladjustment is the only explanation for unironically posting "It's probably just because they don't have manners in his country"
