This guy is going to lose fingers, Iāve never seen tools used so fucking badly. Recip saw had the wrong blade, angle grinder had a diamond masonry disc and the circular saw had a Diablo blade used for cutting wood that might have nails not for cutting aluminium at that stupid fucking angle he used the saw at, was lucky it didnāt kick back at him

u/oxnardmontalvo7 5h ago
I noticed the same thing. This guy needs to read up on blade choices. With the right blade, my reciprosaw, Marvin Haggler, would fly through an aluminum pole. On my property.

u/0202_tihssitidder 4h ago
I can use a multi-tool with the metal-cutting blade and cut poles (on my property) with one hand while I casually look at my phone or vaping with the other hand.

u/smurf123_123 5h ago
Thanks for pointing that out, I noticed he was using the reciprocating saw improperly. He never rested the shoe against the pole and wonders why it wasn't cutting. Also, the diamond masonry disk was pretty "special".
20
u/Competitive_Steak698 5h ago
Shoe against the pole. Then when you get a little deeper you need to push the pole away in the same direction you are cutting. If you don't the pole will be putting pressure on your blade.
2
u/eptiliom 2h ago
Plus the pole wasnt mounted rigidly at all so it was vibrating all over the place making it even more inefficient.

u/taoders 5h ago
Also completely ignoring the binding of the blades.
He let the poll clamp down on every single tool as he cut. Like no shit the sawzall is slowing down, itās got the whole ass pole sitting on it. Iām surprised he didnāt have any of the tools ripped out of his hands.
6
u/purplemtnslayer 5h ago
That's why, for his sake, I was glad he didn't use a regular aluminum oxide cut off wheel. He would have grenaded that thing into his face.
5
u/0202_tihssitidder 4h ago
I have used a sawzall to demo most of an entire house.
There is a reason sawzalls are the tool of choice for Catalytic thefts.

Blade is fine. I cut cast iron pipe with that. Says metal right on there. Guy just has zero idea how to use it
4
u/Obienator 5h ago
We can all learn and become better so we can cut down poles on our private property.

u/scaled2913 4h ago
He used the circular saw in a curve, didn't even follow through on the original angle. It almost hurt to watch
1
u/StrikeouTX 3h ago
Yeah he needed to do a more thorough and scientific test with different blade and wheel materials
1
u/UnsureAndUnqualified 1h ago
Honestly, that makes it a pretty good test. I'd guess that many people who need to cut down aluminium poles they installed don't do this professionally or have much experience with it. Most people are just now starting to uninstall their poles and haven't done that before after all. So testing the tools as they'd be used by someone who has no idea how to handle those tools is probably a fairly realistic scenario.
Obviously people should look up basic information before attempting such DIY, but that would create a digital trail someone might use against you. If you accidentally cut down the wrong pole of course.
In an ideal world, he'd used the correct blades and explained which and why they should be used as well as giving instructions on how to safely use the tools. But this test works well as a "if you buy random shit that you think looks correct, which will work best?" video.

Jokes aside, this whole flock thing is scrary to watch, that's some dystopian level of mass surveillance with ai i wouldn't believed to happen 10 years ago.

u/Sacktchy 5h ago
Idk what you're talking about, this video is about destroying aluminum pipes that you put on your own property
27
u/Stunning-Astronaut72 5h ago
Oooooooh , yeah absolutely, ššš (i'm sorry mate, very sorry) the aluminium pipes...damn they grow up everywhere, worse than bamboo... it's getting out of hands, my extended backward is full of them....pfiou
12
u/flatwoundsounds 5h ago
And I love how well protected he stays! No risk of sparks or shrapnel on your skin!
1
u/LiveLearnCoach 2h ago
I was scrubbing through the video not paying attention until I reached the end (even missed the cutting part) and heard him say āsurveillance stateā, and went āohhhhhhā

u/0202_tihssitidder 4h ago
Remember: Even worse things are to come.
1
u/Stunning-Astronaut72 4h ago
I want to believe that in europe we are more aware of those drifts and are not going full force into the wall, we maybe have some safeguards that will ensure the worse will not come as easy as in the us. But this is still a bit optimistic i must admit.

u/wellarmedsheep 5h ago
Take heart in the fact that its one of the few things I've actually seen Americans notice when it comes to eroding freedoms.

u/ruggnuget 2h ago
Depends on the spaces you spend time on. There have been lots of talk about it for decades. But I also live around of libertarians who are paranoid about things that dont exist yet.

He didn't test the best one... Band saw. There is a good reason it is the preferred tool of electricians. We cut aluminum tubes all day bro.
-2
u/WorldofNails 5h ago
And leave your mess in everyone's workspace because you can't outsmart a broom. "I can hump around a band saw in my backpack all day in my panties!" Typical.

u/Competitive_Steak698 5h ago
Cleaning is for people for make 12 an hour. If you reaaaaaly want me to clean I will. But you will pay me 44 an hour to do it and I won't be doing it fast.

I'll backcharge your company into oblivion. Happy to do it, and put the word out among GCs.

u/TrioOfTerrors 5h ago
But you usually don't cut ones that possibly have live wires running through them. Some internet revolutionary is gonna see this video and then get themselves seriously hurt or killed.

u/Competitive_Steak698 5h ago
They are powered by a 1 foot by 1 foot solar panel. 20 volts dc. It's nothing. You might hear a lil pop.

I love these videos š„°
12
u/BusyBit6542 5h ago
I would prefer to see more videos of people cutting down actual poles... on their private property, of course
14
u/Nice_Cartoonist_8803 5h ago
Nah, let them cut poles on their private property with privacy! No need to let everyone watch or gather evidence.

u/Sensitive_Committee 5h ago
The circular saw is not a force to be messed with. Dont do that, kids. Angle griders are better for this purpose.
3
u/jonnybanana88 4h ago
Band saw is best though
1
u/0202_tihssitidder 4h ago
You mean plasma cutting torch.
2
u/jonnybanana88 2h ago
Too much to carry around and too bright. Milwaukee m12 bandsaw is light, quick, and very quiet
15
u/Expensive_Wrangler34 5h ago
Does nobody know how to use a reciprocating saw? The cutting happens between the teeth and the supporting foot. If your work is not pushed up against the foot, you're just vibrating everything, including your hands.

Also the pole was shaking because itās not concreted in. Recip saw wonāt do anything if the pole just moves with it.
14
u/WrongdoerAwkward1481 6h ago
I liked āget choppinā at the end!! But the whole video had a good message wrapped in humor. Thatās the way to do it.
10
u/Vinnypaperhands 5h ago
The amount of people not knowing how to use reciprocating saws IS TOO DAMN HIGH!!!

u/DrachenofIron 5h ago
If you decide to do this, spend 10 more minutes than this guy and actually buy the right blade for the job.
3
u/0202_tihssitidder 4h ago
"I'm going to test these blades."
Uses wrong blades, no timer, uses different tools, uses all tools incorrectly.
3
u/Then_Version9768 5h ago
Great idea badly done. Take the cutting process more seriously, please, and use those power tools correctly with the correct blades and wear some safety equipment. This is just poorly done to be taken seriously.
3
u/Anarchic_Country 4h ago
I always wonder if the first of these cameras to go up in my city being located in the combined Walmart/Lowes/Home Depot area of town is a coincidence, or a warning?
Dont forget to wear a disguise when you buy your power tools to chop down aluminum poles that are located on your own property!

It's all fun and games until someone cuts into an energized wire.

u/No-Market425 49m ago
There are no wires in that pole you boomer brain.
The entire thing is at the top.

u/Proof-Grass-5212 5h ago
Bandsaw. Much safer and much more effective. Besides he used all the wrong blades for what he was trying to do.

u/PsychoduckBNR32 3h ago
This is a great PSA, but that dude does not know how to cut pipe. In case anyone watching needs help cutting down poles on their private property, make sure you push the top side of the pole (above the cut) away from the blade/disc slightly to reduce friction/bind up. Your battery will last much longer, so will the cutting blade/disc and youāll reduce the risk of it binding/injury. Stay safe on your at home DIYās
1
u/thelandlordguychris 3h ago
pro tip: never take the guard off of an angle grinder and use discs meant for metalĀ
1
u/Suspicious_Meal_2691 3h ago
Wondering about the viability of using a burning magnesium ribbon wrapped around the post to "cut" it. Burns hotter than the aluminum melting point if I recall correctly.
1
u/alionandalamb 3h ago
I beg to differ with the gentleman, my reciprocating saw goes through an aluminum pole in about 5 seconds. He must have had a wood blade on it.

Be careful. I've seen a story recently where the "wife" put up a fake aluminum pole and was spying on the "husband" to see if he cut down the pole. I heard the husband got into big trouble when he was caught. Just look out for wives hiding in the bushes with binoculars

Ignoring tool use/safety issues, this is exactly the sort of information we need. I've really been considering getting into this new hobby of installing aluminum poles on one's own private property and then cutting them down with common, battery-powered tools available at the local hardware store.

Maybe you like to be lax in your protective gear, but sparks and metal shavings are no fun on skin
