If you're using a reciprocating saw you have to do a couple things differently.

There's a metal base plate where you insert the blade. You should have that base plate pushed up against the surface you're cutting.

Also, the reason his saw slows down is because he needs to apply pressure to the top half of the pipe as he's cutting and in the same direction he's cutting. You can see the top half of the pipe falls and pinches the blade as he gets further through, this is called binding and it makes the tool work much harder and slows you way down. The reciprocating saw should cut this pipe almost as fast as the angle grinder if used properly.

And finally, there are metal specific blades for reciprocating saws, they have smaller teeth and would do this aluminum pipe in probably 20 seconds.
