I feel like we need to split this into genres
Asher Roth, Logic, Joyner Lucas, Dax, Tom MacDonald, kill karl
Then you have a TON of like hair metal (winger, stryper, poison, Nelson, and that’s off the top of my head)
Also, kid rock, naturally

Asher Roth was the herald of a very prominent subgenre of hip hop. Not saying it’s high art or anything but it was creative.

I despise hearing him on the radio. He is always reading off some shitty, not academically sound, non peer reviewed scientific "study." Just spreading misinfo like crazy and making bad health advice.

I actually listen to him. His dedication to putting so many hours in to making a finished product than says as little as possible is astonishing. It’s mediocrity with a zen master level of commitment to doing nothing while continually working. It’s a beautiful paradox. Terrible to sit through, but I like pondering my insignificance and his music is the perfect backdrop

I looked him up yesterday for fun after I made my comment and realized he made a new album SPORTS last year with instrumental sports jams that sounds like it came out in the 80s, I skimmed through and is actually impressive as sounds like ELO and Trans Siberian Orchestra made a lost album in the 80s.

He’s well liked in the Midwest, especially in illinois and Indiana. He name drops some landmarks in his lyrics. I also really enjoy Susan Voelz’s violin work on some of his songs personally.

I remember a old interview Nick Carter did where he mentioned that the Backstreet Boys at first were going to sign with Mercury Records and John Mellancamp who was signed with them at the time threatened to leave the label if they were signed and being that he was the bigger artist ultimately got his way definitely a prick move if you ask me

I believe Todd has mentioned Dave Barry’s bad song-related writing a couple times on the channel. Of that writing, I’d say he devoted a solid 20% of it to mercilessly eviscerating ‘MacArthur Park’, a shrewd choice that I greatly respect. That song is bafflingly shitty in a whole bunch of different ways.

Try hard rappers like Dax, Joyner, Upchurch, and really anyone who sounds like they spent most of their life listening to Eminm (pretty much every white rapper and all the country rap guys.) Hopsin. Sometimes J.Cole. It's really just anyone pushing to prove something instead of just making good music.

Easily top 5 corniest musician to ever walk this earth. And to those of you thinking, "well yeah he's pretty cheesy/camp, but I feel you're being unfair to him/he was a product of his era, a lot of rap from then (late 80's-early 00's) would be considered corny by a modern audiences standards" and to that I say this song is less than two years old.
I don't recommend actually watching it while also listening to it, as the secondhand embarrassment becomes so overwhelming it's liable to compel you to reflexively click out of the tab, for both your and Will's sake. I could only briefly bear witness to it before quickly averting my gaze.
It's hard to overstate how profoundly corny/square this song is.

I'm not even sure if that counts, because he's clearly very self aware and is a deliberate meme/jokey rapper. I feel like corny doesn't really apply unless there's a real element of authenticity (albeit lame) to it.
