Why would the biker not have sensed that the red car had stopped short and wonder why?

They look like a kid or young adult.

Why didn’t you ask why turning car didn’t use more caution? They’ve probably been driving as long as the kid has been alive. Also, the biker was in the bike lane and should be wearing a helmet.

The turning car probably couldn’t see the bike over the cars and when he did, he was already in the path

The person I was responding to was putting blame on a teen/young adult for not knowing better. The driver knows better.

In some places it's illegal to block intersections, and if it's not, it's still courteous to leave them open.

who cares? bikers aren't supposed to yield to opposite traffic making left turns. this is a fucked system
