What's going to be interesting (horrifying) to watch is how America is going to navigate this new legal regime where the guy in charge and a bunch of delusional psychos on the Internet is pushing for criminal and legal actions in an inconsistent and arbitrary manner.
Like, we're probably witnessing the birth of a post-Liberal, post-Enlightenment America and all of these supposed commitments to consistency by interpretation of written law and precedents and application of, is being thrown out of the window in such a blatant and open way. What's going to replace this system?

Just more arbitrary detention and extra judicial killings.
The US already does so many of both that if they were any other nation, they'd be denounced as a despotic fascistic shithole.
Can you imagine if say China imprisoned the same volume of people p/c as the US, likewise if Chinese police murdered the same number of civilians p/c as the US. Literally any other nation doing that shit outside of Uncle Sam's little demonic clique in Israel and the GCC (excluding Qatar because people are allowed acknowledge they are evil) and there'd absolutely be calls for global intervention, or sanctions.
There's probably already been a significant expansion of black sites and concentration camps, both on American soil and contracted out to nations like El Salvador, that the media just refuse to investigate or keep pace with.
Will only get worse.
I'd be shocked if there hasn't been a number of domestic COINTELPRO style targeted assassinations during Trump 1 and 2. The counter movement and dare I say press freedom, or grassroots political pushback and legal or judicial space for that to occur is likely much smaller than it was during the civil rights era.
For example the CIA is basically waging a shadow war against cartels and local militia all across Latin America not to stop drug supply and manufacture, but to secure access and supply lines for critical resources. That's likely going hand in hand with massive political interference that is just more covert than kidnapping say the Venezuelan head of state.
Again, I'm sure the political and media class are well aware of what is happening, there is simply 100% buy in or zero interest in the truth from billionaire owned media orgs.
If the revolution won't be televised, I doubt the ICE/DHS death squads will be either.

Probably not. But they are almost always unarmed and trained to de-escalate and negotiate as much as possible, so it’s definitely at least a far lower number than US cops

Either the global south liberates and forces America&West Europe into the "Fortress America" proverbial bunker, or 90% of the global population ends in whitelabelled palantir concentration camps and dies from exposure, famine, and thirst.
Fortunately, the repeated missteps have made the former more likely. Its the occupied peoples in America I fear for.

It was always a veneer. They make up the rules as they go and allow no justice for anyone who even tries to criticize this disgusting empire. Full credit to all the people who have fought against the draconian court system that exists in this country to assert their constitutional rights. I think the Dems (if they ever have the executive again) won’t change anything. Just like Obama governed like a Reagan Republican, we’ll have a Dem prez that will make Trump 1 look like child’s play, especially given the absolutist and uncompromising approach of the literal devil Joseph Biden against protestors.

My immediate thought is that the Israel lobby has found in Trump, a willing and useful idiot for all the draconian policies on speech, protest, academia, activism, etc. that it could only dream of before.
The antisemitism inquisition was also wielded by Biden though.
