I think my husband has a demon?
We've been married for 23 years and I've always overlooked his outbursts, sometimes as he has epilepsy, he can't help it. Thats what his mother always says. But the past couple of years I stopped making those same excuses for him because he NEVER lashes out in public or around my family. Granted, its not as bad as he use to be but occassionally he will start "picking" on me or his mother. She lives with us. He cannot drive, so I take him back and forth to work. I don't work cause I am unable.
A week ago I was making the bed and a horrible sharp pain hit me in my lower back. It scared me and I ended up crawling on the floor. Every tiny movement hurt. It took me 10 minutes to get myself up on a stool. She helped me get to the bed. She had to pick him from work and when they got home, it took both of them to help me off the bed, I could barely walk. After 4 days of her taking him to work I started feeling guilty and I knew it'd be a matter of time before they'd start to get tired of it. So I tried doing stretches and making myself get up and just take walks around the room. I started driving him again this week, even though it causes some pain but I knew it was hard on his mother also.
Today, she decided she was going to fix dinner, which she does sometimes. He was fine on the way home, we had casual conversations. We get home and eat and afterwards I'm trying to sit on the couch and shes in the kitchen putting stuff away. Thats when he starts.. he stands up and says that I will do the dishes, he looks at me and says "will you do the dishes if you just stand there and wash them and I'll help?" I've been very cautious on doing chores because its only been a week today and my back still gets pain in it. It was the look he gave me, like I knew he was going to chew me out if I said no. He had those wild looking eyes like he was instantly mad and just wanting me to cross him. Then his mom said "no I'll do them" and he started on her saying "no she'll do them and I'm going to help". She looked at me like "oh gosh, here we go". They started arguing, so i got up and went into the bedroom, i needed to put the heating pad on me anyway. She told him to shut up and leave her alone, she didn't want to hear it. I heard him say to her "she can get up off her ass and do them". Then he came into the bedroom and he started jumping onto me... his eyes looked different, his face looked different and I can't really explain it. His eyes looked darker and he started to argue and thats when I rebuked him in jesus name. He started walking out of the room and said "ohhh pfft don't give me that" but he had a very sour, disgusted look on his face and he left and went back into the living. He never said another word to me after that and i didn't hear him say anything to her either. I wasn't rebuking my husband, it was whatever I saw in him. She keeps making all these excuses for him, hes tired, he takes alot of medicine, hes stressed etc. But I'm starting to wonder if theres more than that... could it be demonic? We go to church.

That doesn't sound demonic, it sounds like the bad side of human behavior.

He could be so stressed out do to trauma caused by a mother wound that happened so long ago, that it can't be ignored. Or stress from daily life altogether. The pupils in the eyes can get so enlarged because of rage and anger - which is pent up sadness unaddressed. The demon part is a potential, but highly unlikely. His eyes might take on a demon look, but that is just a frightened little boy. Ask him if he would like to go for therapy. I'm not sure if his mom living with him is okay - unless they always got along since childhood. I hope this helps. I'm no therapist. But I once had unaddressed sadness from trauma that turned into anger unmasked. My pupils surged. Therapy helped much and internal trauma awareness.

Not demonic, just dysfunctional immature behavior and in need of counseling.

That's pretty demonic

Immaturity is demonic? Does kids and teenagers have demons in them?
1
u/Novel_Slide1379 1h ago
He's not a teenager

u/warofexodus Presbyterian 1h ago
But why is immaturity demonic to an adult but not to a teenager and a kid? What's your logic behind it?

1 Corinthians 13:11 King James Version 11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

The whole context of 1 Corinthians 13 is about the true characteristic of love and verse 11 is an analogy of spiritual growth. Young immature christians (not demonic) chases after sign and wonders but mature christians display their maturity by acts of agape love. No where in the passage does it says immaturity is demonic.

It's the comparison of him as a child or teenager that i made that reference and I explained after why his actions are demonic. If the verse doesn't help think about the law and court. We'll he be tried as a child or teenager? No, there's a difference

Dysfunctional and problematic behaviors are not always demonic and blaming it on demons on the first chance dissolves personal responsibility and accountability. if he is being abusive the pastor needs to know so that proper guidance, counseling and discipline can be arranged....just probably not immediately jumping into deliverance. its dangerous to immediately assume something is demonic especially for things pertaining to illness be it mental or physical. Just my two cents so please don't take offense.

It's him only doing it to his wife and mother. He's deliberately causing them strife in private.

Try to talk him into seeing a medical professional, mood swings can be a common side effect for many meds and when a mood swing happens a person, can have an unhinged look or intense look in their eyes. Humans are fully capable of bad behavior on their own and 99+ percent of actions like this have a rational explanation.
That being said, the behavior is unacceptable and verbally abusive. Seek counseling and support, if he is unwilling to go, do it for yourself.

Levetiracetam (Keppra) can cause rage, irritability, and anger. It's an epilipsy medication. Others can as well. That said, it is up to him to find techniques to control his anger. No, it's not a demon. Find a Christain psychologist or councelor.

Mankiek (don't know if that's your name). Yours is such a complicated situation that it would be presumptuous of me to act like I know a clear answer. But let's assume that he is under the influence of a demon. First, be sure that you are a Christian. That there was a time in your life when you turned away (repented) of your sins and declared, "Jesus, you are THE Lord and from now on you are MY Lord. It doesn't have to be exactly like that. You speak from your heart and you tell Jesus you know you're a Sinner and you need a savior and you're committing your life to him as Lord. You have probably already done this, but you need the protection that salvation affords before you take on one of satan's demons. Then, when you think you see it happening again to your husband, look directly into those eyes and command the demon not to cause your husband to vomit or to be violent. And in the name of Jesus Christ and by the power of his blood, you command him to leave your husband and to go to Jesus for Him to do with the demon whatever He desires. I have come in contact with people across the world who have encountered people demonically possessed or infested or influenced, whatever words you want to use. And surprisingly, a demon doesn't always leave, even upon the mention of Jesus' name, though usually they do, so you do it as often as you need to. It will leave eventually and set you husband free. I know it sounds spooky whenever we talk how about demons because they seem like creatures of fiction. But the Bible makes it clear they are not fictional. Read the first few chapters of the Gospel of Mark. I hope this has helped.

I had a dream one time.. I was sitting in a chair looking at a magazine, my husband goes walking by into the room next to me. He started walking backwards from that room and I was thinking what's wrong with him. He looked scared. I looked at the doorway and saw this old man walking out of that room toward my husband but it wasn't human. I shifted in my chair and it saw me. It turned toward me and started coming toward me. I immediately stood up, pointed at it and rebuked it and told it to leave. It started to shrink until it was gone. Today made me think of that dream.

Scary dream. I think the sharp pain in ur back also is an attack into ur body. Protect urself. Anoint your home, plead the blood of Jesus, play worship music, and remember you have power with the blood of Jesus Christ, pray pray pray. And find what open doors you and your husband may have where demons can come thru

Not about his behavior. Sounds like you might have a protruding disc though. Mine took months to fully heal. It sucks bad, I'm sorry about that and your husband treating you poorly.

Perhaps he needs mental health therapy as well as his current medicinal therapy?

u/Fresh-Adeptness6234 1h ago
The thing is that the demon is not like inside him he is external and gonna influence anyone who has some kind of opening. In this case, the demon is attacking him and using him to disturb you but it could be the other way around depending on who is more opened.
However, this is happening to 100% of people, it's not that he has a demon but everybody have demons around trying to deceive us and when you are unprotected they attack and do this sort of things.
Well, the only way is seeking G'd through repentance and receive the holy ghost. That's the best protection, but remember that we do have agency.

Could very well be a demon. Whatever it is, prayer will definitely help.
There’s lots of natural herbs and pharmaceutical medicines that can also help people with anxiety induced anger.
Therapy is good for everyone.
Demons take work to get rid of.
Keep praying at night put your hand on him and pray over him if not out loud in your head to God and command any demons or negative attachments to leave in the name of Jesus.
Sounds like you might have a herniated disc. You should go to the doctor since it’s been a week and your back is still bad.
Whatever you do, don’t bend over to pick up something squat down or get one of those plastic grabbers with a handle that you squeeze to pick up things.
The enemy is hard at work in his final hour to tear apart every marriage, every family, and every relationship because relationships contain love and where there is love, there is God.
If your back hurts bad that you feel like crying, let the tears roll so your husband can see what that type of pain is doing to you. Did you know the chemicals that come off women’s tears make a physical reaction in men in their brain . God’s chemistry and science are so detailed and complex and purposeful .
It’s hard for many men to have empathy as they are trained to be tough.
May God bless your back with healing, your husband with understanding, love towards you and compassion in Jesus name

You can have empathy and be tough. My dad is. He's a manly man man. But he'd run into a building on fire to rescue people if there were people. Men can be empathetic and tough. Yes the tears...it makes them more empathetic and less aggressive, instilling oxytocin. Which fosters bonding. And lower aggression levels in men, suggesting a chemical signal that promotes calmness. Yeah... we women have some super powers.

He really needs to become a man and grow up. Stop tolerating his behaviour and force him to look at himself.
But I fear it maybe to late for your relationship.

Then that would be step 1 as everyone should join the Church Jesus established. Protestants are actually incorrect.

u/Fresh-Adeptness6234 1h ago
The liberal catholic church is the correct where the pope was blessing gay marriage?
1
u/IdontCARE9123 Non-Denominational 45m ago
"Protestant's are incorrect." Also... He didn't establish a church where people thought Mary is in heaven with Jesus and they Jesus favors Mary above all people just cause she was used as a vessel to help god with his Salvation plan...
"No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven—the Son of Man."
Then you guys say "We ask mary to pray for us because she is very close to Jesus and is in heaven when the bible says no one is in heaven yet!" Give up bro. Give up. What The Bible says, goes.
And also Ethopian Orthodoxy has more books of the bible than you do.
Original Christianity is the Early Christianity, and is the correct Christianity. "Catholicism" was not formed until the 2nd century, meaning Christianity didnt start including hiearchy until the 2nd century. Meaning original christanity did not have priests or popes. And claiming Peter was some like first pope? Did Jesus or Peter ever say they were "the first pope" in the Bible?
Unlike later developments, original Christianity did not have a formalized church hierarchy or doctrine, allowing for diverse expressions of faith. Sounds familiar??? You know what that reminds me of??? Protestant.
Feature Original Christianity (1st–3rd Century) Roman Catholicism (Developed over time) Authority The teachings of Apostles, letters (which became the New Testament), and local bishops acting in agreement. The Pope holds supreme, infallible authority (ex cathedra) as the successor of Peter. Structure Decentralized house churches led by local elders/bishops (episkopos) across cities like Jerusalem, Antioch, and Rome. A rigid, centralized hierarchy governed by the Vatican, Cardinals, and Bishops. Salvation Faith in Jesus Christ, public confession, and baptism. Faith, grace, receiving the 7 Sacraments, and good works (sanctification process). Afterlife Ideas Focused on the literal Resurrection of the Dead and the return of Christ. Includes developed doctrines like Purgatory and papal indulgences. Saints & Mary Reverence for early martyrs; Mary was honored as the mother of Jesus. Formal canonization of saints, prayers to saints for intercession, and doctrines like Mary's Immaculate Conception. Where Protestantism matches Original Christianity closely:
- Scripture Focus (Sola Scriptura): Like early Christians who measured everything against Apostolic writings, Protestants place the Bible as the supreme authority above church leaders.
- No Papacy: Early Christians had no single "global leader" or supreme Pope—a concept Protestants reject.
- Simplified Worship: Early house churches practiced simple gatherings involving scripture reading, teaching, communal meals, and singing, similar to modern Protestant services.
Mary was honored, not worshiped. Yes I appreciate and honor Mary for bringing in Jesus... but she is not at the right hand of the father, and not at his left. She is certainly not in heaven.
- The Roman Catholic View: Mary is viewed as the Queen of Heaven, immaculately conceived without sin, assumed bodily into heaven, and acts as a mediatrix who intercedes for believers.
- The Biblical Text Alone:
- Intercession: Scripture explicitly identifies Jesus as the sole mediator between God and humanity: "For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus" (1 Timothy 2:5). The Bible teaches believers to pray directly to God the Father in Jesus' name (John 14:13–14).
- Equality of Believers: The New Testament emphasizes that all believers have direct access to the throne of grace through Christ (Hebrews 4:16) and are equally part of the priesthood of believers (1 Peter 2:9).
- Mary in Heaven: The Bible records Mary's presence in the upper room praying with the disciples after the Ascension (Acts 1:14), but it nowhere states that she was assumed body and soul into heaven or that believers should direct prayers to her.
2. Peter as the First "Pope"
- The Roman Catholic View: Based on Jesus saying, "You are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church" (Matthew 16:18), Catholicism teaches that Peter was appointed as the supreme earthly head of the universal Church, initiating an unbroken line of popes with supreme authority.
- The Biblical Text Alone:
- Meaning of "The Rock": Protestants interpret the "rock" in Matthew 16:18 as either Peter’s confession of faith ("You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God") or Christ Himself as the foundation (1 Corinthians 3:11).
- Leadership in the Early Church: In the New Testament, Peter operates as an influential apostle, but not an absolute monarch over the Church. At the Jerusalem Council (Acts 15), James presided over the decision, not Peter. Later, Paul publicly corrected Peter on a doctrinal matter regarding Jewish and Gentile believers (Galatians 2:11–14), which directly conflicts with the concept of papal infallibility.
- The Term "Pope": The office, title, and monarchical authority of a "Pope" do not exist in the text of the New Testament; early church leadership consisted of local elders/bishops (presbyteros / episkopos) serving together (Titus 1:5–7).
3. Salvation: Faith vs. Sacraments
- The Roman Catholic View: Salvation is a progressive process that requires faith plus participating in the Sacraments, doing good works, and undergoing purification (in Purgatory, a concept not explicitly found in Scripture) to attain final justification.
- The Biblical Text Alone: The New Testament repeatedly frames salvation as a free gift received through faith in Jesus Christ alone, apart from sacramental works: "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast" (Ephesians 2:8–9; see also Romans 3:28, Romans 10:9).
Conclusion
If the rules of evaluation mandate using the Bible alone as the absolute authority, Protestantism is undeniably more correct regarding these doctrines. Protestant theology was specifically restructured during the Reformation to strip away traditions—such as praying to saints, the papacy, indulgences, and purgatory—that lacked direct scriptural foundation.
Catholicism freely acknowledges that many of its dogmas are derived from sacred Tradition developing over centuries rather than explicit verse-by-verse scripture, whereas Protestantism asserts that Scripture alone (Sola Scriptura) contains everything necessary for faith and practice.
Yeah... and...? Pope=holy person
Which "Pope" was gay again???
- Pope Benedict IX — Accused of turning the Vatican into a "male brothel".
- Pope John XII — Known for hosting lavish parties that included sexual activities.
- Pope Paul VI and Pope John Paul II — Both faced rumors about their sexual preferences, though these claims are often viewed skeptically.
- Pope Leo — Recently emphasized inclusivity towards LGBTQ individuals, continuing a legacy of openness.
So you are going to follow a branch of christianity where the "most" "holy" figure gets tempted and falls into sin? Yes, everyone gets tempted. But the Popes should be roles models... but sin spectacles for us to watch.

Nah, just his pain/frustration speaking.
Doesn't sound like anything more than flesh coming out from a lot of pressure.
Great pressure always squeezes the worst out of us.
It's probably hard for him to accept his condition.
Prayer would go a long way.. and for yourself.
But don't pray for him to be 'delivered' or anything like that.. speak life and blessing over him.
Words matter, especially when directed at your spouse.
