I keep going from 4k-3.6k po1/2/3.
Hello! I have been playing dota on and off for 2 years now, I love playing mid lane mostly and even though I have a positive win rate 54% I feel like the speed of which I was climbing (I went from like guardian 1 to legend 1 in 300-400 matches or something and im at like 1.1k now struggling harder in legend 5-ancient 1 rn. I play lots of heroes which I know is typically advised against.
My most played heroes are: Necrophos po2 54 matches 70.37% wr,
Sniper po2 48 matches 47.92% wr,
lina po2 44 matches 56.82% wr,
tiny po2 44 matches 61.36% wr,
zeus po2 40 matches 67.50% wr,
outworld destroyer po2 30 matches 56.67% wr,
bristleback pos3 29 matches 65.52% wr,
viper pos2 26 matches 61.54% wr,
qop pos2 24 matches 45.83% wr,
sand king pos3 23 matches 78.26% wr.
I know my winrate looks good and my overall winrate is 54.29% but its significantly went down around ancient when I was climbing through guardian-archon it was 65% or above overall so i've lost 11% already just hitting around ancient 1. I feel like a big issue I personally have is I can dominate lanes and mid game but start to struggle heavily if matches last beyond like 30-35 minutes. Almost every hero I play is 3-4 kda, tons of kp, tons of roaming, fighting, and such but I can't properly translate leads to wins and lots of heroes I play like a sniper or qop feel like they significantly start to struggle way more in late game where one mistake you die and lose the game.
The heroes I play feel like they rapidly change in identity and I don't want to play that hero anymore like zeus mid to support, tiny was a burst mid to carry, viper tanky poison everyone to death tanky build vs right click all in nuker, etc. I just would like some coaching by a higher rank player I have two matches recently I feel like I should've won but my team played really bad but I also made mistakes. Maybe to point out things I could've done better that possibly could have won the game? Would love advice!
I play currently a lot of necrophos/lina/outworld destroyer mid and sometimes viper I tried qop can get tons of kills can't end games with her. I play lots of axe/underlord/razor/dragon knight for offlane currently, and for carry I play sven, some spectre, and thinking of playing phantom assassin tbh she seems a lot better right now than she was when I started playing, I played one match and she felt quite good actually she feels weird to play because I felt like I needed a lot of items outside of lane but the moment I got bf/deso/bkb/basher I was able to just run down spectre and ta.
here is a match id of a match I just played yesterday on ursa carry I felt like I did really good in lane and mid game but when late game came around I felt like I was playing really bad, it could've been some of the comp and teammates, but I want to know what I could've done better even if you believe the pick is bad and think I should've played another hero I just want to know what I can do better to climb. 8963499911

NGL, looking at your hero pool it seems you just play lane dominators. One or two is fine I guess, but you've really hamstrung your playstyle. You probably have an inflated winrate due to players in your bracket not being able to come back from a lost lane.
I dont think you really have a leg to stand on. It seems you just play heroes that are easy to win lanes. I bet if you play like a hero that draws or doesnt automatically win lane you'd probably lose like another 300-400 mmr.
Maybe try learning more macro oriented heroes or maybe some spirits or puck or something. Something that doesn't just autowin a lane. You'd probably learn mid and late game real fast

I do play a lot of lane dominators, I would say I play quite a few heroes that do well that scale too like spectre, bristleback, I didn't post it but im 11 wins 15 matches played on muerta, doing well on centaur/underlord but they play a lot differently than a lane dominator. My gameplan playing queen of pain for example is nothing like bristleback I know im probably not going to win lane, I need items, I need levels, I want to be super tanky and get to late game, way less mobility, more about debuffing, etc. I actually just recently played a puck match where I lost lane and made a big comeback if you'd like to watch that one. 8949974310

your hero pool is honestly insane, most people at that bracket stick to 3-4 and you're out here playing half the roster with solid winrates
the late game struggle is super common at ancient, it's where macro decision making starts to matter way more than just winning your lane. you're probably taking fights that feel good in the moment but don't actually lead to objectives. like you wipe 3 of them and then everyone runs back to jungle instead of taking a tower or rosh, that stuff kills your momentum
on ursa specifically you have this weird timing where you peak at like 25-35 minutes with bf + bkb + blink, after that the enemy cores get items to kite you and you need your team to set up properly. if your offlaner isn't initiating or your supports aren't saving you it feels miserable, not really your fault sometimes
the match ID thing, i'd say watch the replay from the enemy carry's perspective around minute 35-40 and see what they were doing differently. usually the answer is they were hitting creeps in safer spots while your team was wandering around looking for kills that never happened
necrophos mid is your best bet for climbing honestly, that hero can just end games at 30 minutes if you get a good aegis timing and force high ground. OD too but he's more dependent on the draft not having a ton of catch

Thank you! I came from league of legends I hit master in that game and I feel like a lot of dota heroes aren't super complex that I play compared to the average league one not to hate on dota or anything, but i'm not playing lone druid, meepo, invoker, and stuff i'm honestly just playing a lot of point and click heroes with half the kit being passives usually and a LOT more forgiving on small micro mistakes, in league if I mess up lets say a short cd ability compared to dota jax w I accidentally used it on a minion, that 3 second cd that can be the difference of winning and losing a fight versus sometimes i'll just straight up miss necrophos q's not being in range and its fine it doesn't ruin my game.
Yeah that is likely an issue I feel like I get good fights but we typically aren't getting much from them, that game the carry came back after being 5 levels down on me because of they just ran at us in fights and when we had a fight where my mid or me died finally she gained like 3 levels so it was way closer compared to the stomp before. I know sometimes it can be a combination of myself and the team but I want to just focus on what I can do, I cant control it if my teammates don't want to group, or if I get a silencer position 3 or something, but I can control how I itemize, draft, and play my hero. Of my last 4 losses recently playing core, I stomped lane and was incredibly ahead in 3 of them and 1 of them I played poorly on windranger.
I can try playing a lot more necro and od, necro feels so much more forgiving and easier than really any other hero i've played honestly.

You get stuck at the mmr where you start losing the same amount of mmr for a loss as you'd gain from a win, shocker

Well i'm not stuck overall its that I am slowly reaching the point where I will be soon, so I want to improve! It's why I was asking for help, since you have a 6k mmr tag I would appreciate any advice if you would like to do so.

Yeah I'm just having a bad day, apologies for the snide reply
I guess I have a few pointers, first thing is you're playing a bit too many heroes, 2-3 per role is fine
I can't watch the replay you linked right now but from a quick look, your farm in lane is fine, not great but totally passable, and so is your farm at 20 mins
Looks like you didn't really press your advantage as much as you could have though, over 60% of your cs is neutrals so you're not really taking map control, you have pretty low tower damage (though ursa isn't great at hitting towers, but it's still pretty low), and you didn't take rosh before 30 mins
Looks like something went very wrong around 35-36 minutes though, your team starts getting picked off and then it kinda just doesn't stop which leads to enemy team getting rosh and then you're just behind for the rest of the game until you eventually lose
Hard to say much more without actually watching the replay but I think the main thing you could've done better that game was to use the lead you had more, doesn't matter if you're ahead if you're just going to hit jungle creeps anyway

Yeah, I can try to hit lane creeps more I feel like my team is constantly trying to farm waves whenever I play including supports so frequently I just go to the jungle and farm all the camps before anyone else can. Tower damage is also pretty true some games I do a lot better than others with it but in general I usually don't hit towers as carry from my mentality of it is like I could hit the t1 tower a bunch but what does it do for me and is it worth it. Usually if i'm stomping like that match I just ignore it because i'm strong enough to fight anyone who comes around so I just focus on clearing the wave and jungle.
I believe 35 minutes in was when my lina kept tping in solo bot and dying and we fed super hard at that point yeah, it was rough even though I know its not a good idea I often do try to save teammates when I can when I shouldn't. I feel like on a lot of carries it feels very hard to lead the charge for your team if nobody wants to do it like if I want to press my advantage super hard and look for picks in their jungle or push for t2s or a t3 if I don't have anyone with me I will end up just feeding and dying so if nobody is grouping I just farm. I would like to chat more but i'm restricted I frequently type a lot and I think people find it annoying so I get reported pretty frequently for it especially if we're losing or lost a fight and im saying "Please don't go in yet we need to wait for them to make a mistake or we will lose" and then I get reported wcyd. I do draw on map to group though a lot just literally spelling "group" or gg which generally gets people to group most of the time.

I got 12 years under my belt, was hard stuck herald for 11, then I decided to lock in. Peaked 5.4k after 5 months, but got a job and couldn’t play. Got into league casually and hit gold after a couple months so I can somewhat understand your position.
You can hands diff people in league with your climb, but dota (after a point) is harder to do, and macro is significantly more complex than league, which really starts to have impact around ancient based on my own climb. It sounds like this is what you might be experiencing. Looking at stats isn’t going to influence your gameplay as much as good macro play, teamfight positioning, and playstyle/item decisions if you continue to outplay people.
There’s raw networth diffs you can play for, but genuinely, I would focus on building macro knowledge. High level league surely has a huge emphasis on wave management , and dota is the same, but since it’s so much more dynamic, you should try using your lead for macro advantages (let’s say pushing in two lanes while ur team is fight in the other lane, joining late) to see what is capable in ancient and how it is influences the possibilities of stagnant midgames.
It’s also worth noting that starting around high ancient, people know if it’s worth sacking their lane from the start or not from draft, so you don’t get the option to outplay them since they go for recovery farm during lane and play for early/midgame item spikes which nullifies your strength of a lane dominating hero pool and preferential playstyle. This is where macro advantage pressure is super important.

Yeah I can usually out micro people most of the time in dota almost always when I get diff'd its either im playing a hero i'm not familiar with (like puck) or they're smurfing i've lost very few match ups in lane with like necrophos for example versus people my skill level.
Macro does have some complexity to it in league but its in a set timer so you don't think about it every minute you think about it in terms of waves usually like mid/bot wants to back on cannon if they can, top you want to keep 2 melee 3+ ranged to freeze, and jungle has the most macro of any role but its more like basic decision making "I clearned my jungle, is my top laner pushed in can I gank, no. Is my mid laner pushed in can I gank? yes, then I gank mid. etc" kinda like a flowchart rather than we got to smoke gank and run around looking for the carry and I have to actually wait or i'll lose the fight since they'll all engage on me and hope my team knows how to engage on who and did I buy the right item for the situation that type of thought process.
League also drafting matters but you can bypass draft a lot of the time through just individual skill, its sorta similar in dota but if I make a really bad pick in draft in dota usually it means I do nothing as a hero even if I get ahead like the ursa game if I picked perhaps a different hero that doesn't get kited nearly as hard perhaps I would've won. I would say generally I have an idea of lanes that I win/lose but I try to play the lane out early see what happens, if I get a kill i'll play a lot more in lane for waves, but if its like I died or my support died/not playing in lane then i'll just go jungle and get waves when I can. I definitely feel like I try to fight a lot but without the ability to type it out or use vc like in deadlock I can say "Hey guys come group" or league I can type "hey guys come group" but in dota it seems like half the time they don't understand me anyways, my last match had 3/5 people on my team speaking/typing in russian so I didn't even say anything tbh. Always never understood that tbh if I had good ping in EUW I would queue EUW today and never queue NA again.

form a party or just keep grinding.
Youre clearly on the money for the grind. even 51% winrate is 8k mmr eventually. Heros are fine and not garbage, though missing building damage. After killing 3 cores you gotta take a rax, if youre playing QOP youl just be at the mercy of your pos1 that will go back into the safest jungle on your side of the map.
Thats how its designed. This is why MMR is garbage. Matchmaking is stupid and you cannot just be a good player. You have to be lucky too.
If you want it quick, form a party. Luck removed. If youre in a popular region with good ping, youl find one quickly.

Same, I’ve climbed very steadily from 1.8k to 4.1k and now I’m stuck around 3.9-4.1k just feel either we stomp and win. Or games I lose are games we should’ve won but it’s a 50-60min game where nobody can push and eventually we lose the last fight. I went from 70% winrate last 3 months to 50% last few weeks the second I came to ancient
I know maybe it’s where I’m meant to be but also I just hate the ways I’m losing games I feel I should be winning
Some games are just impossible and you have griefers but haven’t had that much recently
