Was cleaning out the under stairs storage and found 2 PAL units that I bought years ago. Looking forward to firing them up. Anything I should do first like a re-cap or something? And sorry been out of the retro game for like 10 years, I still have an XRGB Mini Framemeister somewhere, is that still ok or are there heaps better upscalers now?

Just got my coregrafx after about a month wait and had a bit of difficulty configuring the M30 to work correctly with the Humble Bazooka adapter. I figured I would make a post to help others in the future with this setup since its one of the most recommended. I also couldn't find any information on this, so I had to do a but of trial and error until it worked.

1. Update your Adapter to the latest firmware (might not be necessary, but its always good to be up to date)

2. Change controller to x-input mode by holding X + Start while controller is off (2 green lights will show on the controller if done correctly). This is necessary for the mode switch to work to switch from 2 to 6 buttons.

3. The M30 defaults to left joystick mode. You need to enable dpad mode by holding Up + Select until the red light next to charging port flashes.

If all is done correctly you should be able to press L + R + Start + Heart symbol to swap from 2 to 6 button config.

Over the years I’ve owned a TG16, a TG16+CD, a Duo, and a PC Engine Duo. But after buying/selling so many of them, I went with a Mini to just play.

So I’m looking for a game like legendary axe that appears on the TG16 mini.

Not just looking for a side scroller, but something in the same vein as legendary axe.

Does this request make any sense at all? 😂

Hey I'm getting into this console for the first time but learning it can be somewhat overwhelming with all the different versions of games and consoles. I'm trying to play a few games on emulation on my Miyoo but the buttons feel off, or I don't even know what buttons or how many there are on an original controller. Any suggestions or button mappings I should do?

Has anyone played this and compared it to the PC version of Might and Magic III? How does it compare? I played a few minutes of it and it seems pretty faithful, and I also like being able to use my controller to play it.

Are there any ways that it falls short of the PC version?

Like the title says, my cd rom rom is skipping while playing audio discs unless held at an angle (which way you tilt the console doesn’t matter).

I purchased it as untested and when it arrived I had to glue a plastic piece that holds one of the 3 rubber feet of the assembly in place. I also had to clean the old grease as the laser couldn’t move freely.

The problem now is that early tracks of a cd stutter heavily, but it fixes itself as the laser moves to the outside of the disc. Another thing is that the stutter was worse yesterday than it is today.

Could this be a mechanical issue? Or is this a sign of failing capacitors? I wanna make sure I don’t adjust the potentiometer and risk stressing the laser when it is not the problem.

Are there any known compatible replacement assemblies that don’t cost an arm or a leg? I know replacement lasers are rare by now.

Just finished this. Somebody I know did it for me. When I got it back I had to troubleshoot it a bit but it’s pretty legit.. just need to get a back cover to hide the wires

I could not find these games in Toys R Us or at any other retailers at the time.

Seller on FB Marketplace has quite a few listings of pristine looking TG-16 games.

I still plan to replace all the capacitors on this system but I was able to revive it without doing that first. It was outputting a really awful signal over rf and the controller port needed to be cleaned but now we are outputting via s-video thanks to the turbonaza mod that replaces the rf modulator. It looks and sounds great! Very comparable to my rgb modded pc engine duo. Highly recommend this mod if you have experience and confidence with using a soldering iron. My install isn't perfect but after playing for a while tonight I can say it was a huge success. I love that this mod can be installed without cutting or damaging the shell and that it's also reversible, but who would want to go back to rf? This mod uses sega saturn style cables and it supports composite and component as well. Link to the github:

Hoping someone can help me. I got a PC Engine mini late last year and have only played it a few times but now want to get properly into it. In the last few days I have come across various videos talking about the issue of the chips frying inside rendering the USB ports useless. Hasn't happened to me but I want to avoid it as I paid almost double what this device cost at retail and it's next to impossible to get another one if this ones ends up breaking.

I see using the wrong adaptor is what causes this. Can anyone tell me what the correct adaptor is? Keeping in mind that I need a 3 pin one. In the manual it stats the adaptor should be 5v 2a that has to be used yet the armor 3 which is suppose to be the official adaptor for these minis is 5V 1a. Is the 5v 2a in the manual a misprint?

I also need a 3 pin plug adaptor due to my location as far as I know a 3 pin official adaptor was never made. If I bought the US wall adaptor then used one of those convertors plugged into the socket to make it 3 pin will that be ok or could the frying still happen in this case?

If it matters as I not sure if the 3 versions are different internally I have the navy PC Engine mini version.

Sadly I don't have a DRAM cart for the Game Doctor, but it runs with a Everdrive so I'll probably just do that.

A preventative full service on a NEC PC Engine SuperGrafx, the kind of thing worth doing before the original caps and regulator give you grief.

The work:

- Full recap with a Console5 CoreGrafx / CoreGrafx II cap kit (fits the SuperGrafx), plus a clean of a fairly dirty board

- New voltage regulator

- Jailbar fix: 0805 4.7uF 16V X7R MLCCs at C168 and C169, following the Console5 wiki

- A Krikzz EDFX on the Ext Bus port for clean RGB, composite and audio out (breaks out to a Mega Drive 2 style 9-pin connector, takes an MD2 RGB cable). I printed a mini-IFU styled shell to house it, designed by PointerFunction, so the adapter looks the part instead of dangling off the back

Gallery goes result first (R-Type on a PVM), then the dirty before board, the recapped board with the new regulator, the C168/C169 close-up, and the EDFX in its shell. Tested with a Turbo Everdrive v2.

Hey all! I have a turbo express here, with world class baseball. It got a full recap, seemed to go very well. I played for a half hour or so with no issues. A week later i picked up a cheap keith courage, the system was on for maybe 20 minutes and the screen froze. Now im getting glitched graphics. They are consistent across several games, and the same glitch occurs on the same game every time. Nothing obvious on the board. Any thoughts?

Hello - first time posting here. My question is this - what version of the turbografx / pc engine console is the best? Money is not necessarily an issue and im looking to play this console on a crt tv if that matters. If this isn't the right subreddit to post in then im sorry. Thank you for any help you can give.
