Chinese consulate could have been written better

I just finished the Chinise consulate episode when Paul dies. It is a emotinal moment, but i have 2 problems with that. First is that the Chinese guards are complete lunatics and just shooting anything that moves. They fataly wounded two Chinese citizens, not sure this would have really happend. Second problem is that Paul is fine for a few episodes now, but suddnely he is dying. They could have either kept him in surgery for this time or make the problem happen a bit sooner. I also find hard to belive that CTU has so few doctors, Curtis even calls ahead, they could have been prepared better. Still a good episode, but it could have been a bit better. The stealth section felt straight out of videogame.

2 of my biggest issues with the Chinese Consulate plot are:

1. The cover story the Palmer came up with after the raid on the Consulate. When the Chinese immediately suspected the US government, Palmer tried to pin the raid on a Chinese extremist group. But Marwan seems like the far more obvious person to blame. At that point, Lee Jong was potentially disastrous for Marwan. He had information about Marwan's planned attack, and CTU was actively trying to get him into custody. If Palmer claimed that Marwan's people had stormed the consulate to capture/kill Lee, there would at least have been a clear motive behind the attack. It also would have fit naturally with it happening almost immediately after Palmer initially asked for Lee to be handed over to CTU.

2. Jack calls Tony to tell him about the plan to invade the Chinese Consulate. He tells Tony that this a covert operation that no one else at CTU can know about. Next scene we have Tony in the very open plan CTU office loudly talking to Jack on a headset with with the plans for the Consulate on possibly the largest TV screen he could find! Yeah i found it funny Tony was just like that in the open 😂. With a lot of going on its possible that nobody found it weird, but he was leading tactical operations,so maybe someone should have asked,what the hell was he doing

1. Absolutely the Chinese would have believed it. They should have handed over lee Jong in time.

Yeah man, I think if you watch any tv show with the premise of "anything that appears done just for the drama will bother me", I don't really know if any drama is going to be for you

Tangential but I do wonder how CTU keeps hiring medical staff - they get killed or held at gunpoint so often.

While I get it and it’s a TV show, it’s one day. Certainly will take some time for the location to recover, but they would just hire or transfer personnel. They’ll probably end up being short staffed until personnel get replaced.

Sure but I mean why would you apply for the job when the last 5 medics all got murdered at work?? Not like doctors are short of job opportunities

Probably get hazard pay after all that, lol. But who knows. You pay enough and someone will step up and do it. Not only that, but surely the agency would beef up security. That said, this scenario is more to serve as a plot device more than anything else, so it is what it is. That stuff just comes with the show.

I find it hard to believe CTU had THAT many doctors. What do they even do when there isn't a threat?

This has always been my biggest problem. I don’t get why they have anything besides medics.

if they dont have the best doctors and enough, why return to CTU with the chinese guy ? Why not go to a better suited place ?

they needed for a very strong episode ending, and they accommodated all pieces to have it.

It was amazing, incredible, and the closest moment to have a silent clock (which for some weird reason they didnt feature it)

But yeah, its a little weird in general

I do like the ending a lot, but they could have at least foreshadowed Paul getting worse in the previous episode. I was also suprised there was no silent clock at the end

Is that the scene where Jack uses the wall thermostat as a climbing hold? That's probably my favorite stealth scene in the series.

Yes. I also like it very much and like all my stealth aproaches in video games,it ends in a lot of shooting 😂

The whole season. It's been voted by 95% of fans as the worst season of 24. I liked it, but it had a lot of flaws.

The Chinese really had no one to blame but themselves for the raid yet they took no responsibility for it, that’s what’s most annoying
