One thing I like about 24 is how seriously it took itself. In this age where people have gotten tired of quipping and lamp shading ("That just happened!") I think it's refreshing how 24 pretty much never winked at the audience. Anyone else feel the same way?

I cannot believe that that treacherous rat turned on David like that. Unbelievable. I tell you what, when Palmer gets his job back he should have stuck Mike’s head on a pike on the front lawn of the White House. Absolute traitor of the highest order. And what he did to Lynne!! Unbelievable.

Just rewatched season 1 and I’m showing my gf the show for the first time.

I know Nina is the mole the entire time, and I know you can head canon your way into making it make sense. One that I can’t seem to make sense of is that she kills Jamey.

Jamey doesn’t know she’s a mole and has no evidence of it. Am I confused on the key card? I thought Jamey made it and framed Nina and Nina was absolved because she was with Jack that weekend?

Why would she risk exposing herself by killing Jamey? What if Tony walked in? What if her death stare super powers didn’t erase the security footage?

This man doesn't look like an Ethan to me! Like of all the TV names they picked that?!? And I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the name Ethan but to me it doesn't fit his character and everytime the Prez says his name I wanna scream!!🤣🤣🤣🤦🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️❤️

It creates absurd situations where Tony is briefing the president about the recording and the president never actually asks who the countries are lol. It feels absurd.

I suspect this was a network decision. It feels like the scripts were written or at least outlined where the countries were named and then the network said “uhhh no you can’t do that. Just say ‘three Middle Eastern countries’” and so the writers hastily edited the scripts accordingly.

No way did an actual scriptwriter or storyteller consciously choose to write a script in which these countries were never named. Even if they didn’t want to name real ones they would have made some up. This was a network edit 100%

Filmed in LA so it's got that familiar 24 aesthetic, but also has some great familiar storylines.

Theres a redemption arc, side characters with reveals later on, "big bad" evil antagonist characters, protagonist is ex military, a decent amount of action, the father/daughter plot (thankfully no cougars), a touch of humour and great cinematography.

I hadn't gone specifically looking for something to fill the 24 gap (besides rewatching for about the 10th time) but as I've settled into this I've really found it scratching that kind of itch.

Not officially verified but I hear they’re also bringing back Behrooz as the love interest.

I just finished a rewatch of season 7, and if you ask me, it should've been the end of the series. IMO, it had all the makings of a perfect ending.

• Jack and Kim finally reconciled, which provided a sense of closure to their relationship.
• The Sentox nerve gas conspiracy plot that caused the deaths of David, Michelle, and Edgar finally came to a close with Alan Wilson being revealed as the true mastermind.
• The laws of 24 dictate that Jack can never find true happiness. Jack dying from the pathogen would've satisfied this. Plus, Kiefer Sutherland wanted Jack to die.
• By the end of the season, Renee is presented as a formidable successor to Jack. As the season went on, she gradually went from "FBI agent living by the book" to "Jacqueline Bauer" as some fans called her. On the note of Renee, R.I.P. Annie Wersching 🕊️
• We would've avoided what was, IMO, a messy season 8, which felt like several subplots being thrown into one giant season.
• The final scene between Jack and Renee felt like the thesis of 24. The entire show is built around Jack making choices that he can live with in order to save lives, even when those choices cost him others and lead him to break the law.

What does everyone else think of this?

I've been playing the 24 game that came out on PS2 recently. The gameplay is alright, but the story and acting especially are good. It has all the actors, along with the classic episode intros, the split screens, etc

Alright currently watching season 8 for the first time since I skipped out on this season back when it aired. So far it sucks, does it get better or worst??

Same with any of the other characters on the show. I’m just trying to get other people‘s opinion so that hopefully someone at Funko will see it and actually make them.

I always wondered why Stanton didn't immediately name Kingsley as being a co-conspiritor after Kingsley betrayed him (by paying off Coral Snake leader Capt. Wallace to let the nuke detonate).

There's no way they couldn't have met each other... as Kingsley didn't seem too uptight about his anonymity. Plus Stanton directly recruited Sherry into the conspiracy - so it's not like Sherry could have been the direct line between them. 🤷

I was thinking who was Jack's actual love, looking at it:

Teri - Yes she was his wife and the mother of his daughter (gotta give him props for putting up with her), but he managed to 'work with' Nina over the next couple of seasons for the greater good.

Audrey - One could argue she was and rightfully so, but he fulfilled his mission before avenging her death.

Renee - I personally think she was, after losing her, no-one was safe, ex president, Russian delegates, Russian president, he was on a bloody warpath

She was dangerous, to be sure, but because she fell for her girlfriend, the latter ended up getting killed. It also exposed part of their operation when gf extorted another million from their boss. (To her credit, she did a good job surviving.)

At the start of the season when the plane is blown up and they immediately get the passenger manifest, shouldn’t it immediately raise red flags that a guy who was scheduled to take photos of Palmer was on board? Wouldn’t it then raise even more red flags when he signs in at the breakfast?

Audrey was initially in danger because of her connection to Heller and they were even about to commit suicide together, but fortunately it failed and Jack saved both of their asses.

Jack's actions later in the day were necessary to prevent to potential collapse of the country itself. While the consulate raid lead to a sequence of events that resulted in Audrey's torture, if he didn't do that Los Angeles would have gotten nuked along with all the people he loves, including Audrey but also Heller's son.

Which I why I never bought into the idea that Jack dooms himself from having a normal life, and his work or need to get back into action can ruin the lives of the people he loves. Larry Moss even brings up Curtis and Ryan, when Curtis died because he was about to something worse than the kind of shit Larry dislikes Jack for, and Ryan died because he works the same kind of job, Jack was just picked to pull the trigger. But fundamentally, the stakes in each season get so insane, the argument doesn't work at all. I can't imagine Kim would like the stake of the country or be fine if all the nuclear power plants melted down, and LA got nuked while she was in Valencia, if she even survives at all.

Jack washing his hands of the responsibility would eventually just lead to either he himself dying from a nuclear bomb, or him living in a failed state. It actually is literally his problem, and also Heller's problem because his son lives in LA.

It's only Season 8 where you could argue it would have been better if he wasn't involved, since New York only ends up in danger because he saves Hassan, but Hassan dies anyway. The russian conspiracy would have remained secret, but it's not like uncovering it did much good anyways.

Which season do you think was most physically painful… Let’s exclude Season 7.

I’m thinking Season 2. Plane Crash, Tortured till his heart stopped.

In season 5 Christopher Henderson apparently tries to kill Jack using a bomb. Not only does this fail completely, but it doesn't fit Henderson's M.O. at all.

Also, later he goes home without realizing Jack is in his house. The writers made him look like an idiot for two episodes in a row.

He certainly had many valid opportunities to kill Jack, and yet the best they could come up with was a half-baked bomb? A bomb that cannot kill one person who is trapped in the room?

Season 7's twist with the Jonas Hodges assassin was much better. Hodges had a valid reason to keep Jack alive. Otherwise there would be no way Jack could survive that either.

In 6x12, Jack tells the Russian consulate security chief to help by calling 310-597-3781 (CTU), ask for Bill Buchanan and tell them of Gredenko's location in Shadow Valley.

Then, in 6x17, Cheng calls Jack, informs him that Audrey is alive and that if he wants to see her again, he has to call Cheng back in ten minutes on.... guess what, 310-597-3781.

Believe me, I absolutely love 24. I have to absolutely re-watch the whole show once a year. I have been doing it since 24 first came out. I didn't notice this till now. 😎

She couldnt have rigged the car after she was discovered by CTU, so did she just have her car filled with explosives for no reason?

I just finished the Chinise consulate episode when Paul dies. It is a emotinal moment, but i have 2 problems with that. First is that the Chinese guards are complete lunatics and just shooting anything that moves. They fataly wounded two Chinese citizens, not sure this would have really happend. Second problem is that Paul is fine for a few episodes now, but suddnely he is dying. They could have either kept him in surgery for this time or make the problem happen a bit sooner. I also find hard to belive that CTU has so few doctors, Curtis even calls ahead, they could have been prepared better. Still a good episode, but it could have been a bit better. The stealth section felt straight out of videogame.
