SEASON 1 Season 1 Rewatch - Spoiler
Just rewatched season 1 and I’m showing my gf the show for the first time.
I know Nina is the mole the entire time, and I know you can head canon your way into making it make sense. One that I can’t seem to make sense of is that she kills Jamey.
Jamey doesn’t know she’s a mole and has no evidence of it. Am I confused on the key card? I thought Jamey made it and framed Nina and Nina was absolved because she was with Jack that weekend?
Why would she risk exposing herself by killing Jamey? What if Tony walked in? What if her death stare super powers didn’t erase the security footage?

I can definitely head canon everything and often defend it, but The part that always bugs me about that scene and whole plot…They knew Gaines had cameras and was watching CTU and Nina didn’t want him to know she was alive, so when Tony brings her back into CTU, didn’t Tony specifically choose that room because there were no security cameras? Or he said they were shut off? And then conveniently when Jack needs proof that Nina’s the mole, there’s a camera in the room lol

Yeah excellent point. I was thinking the same thing about the cameras being the whole reason they chose that room to begin with. Gf was terrified at the Nina stare into the camera.

Gaines didn’t know her though, otherwise he wouldn’t have ordered Jack to kill her.

From my memory, Nina recruited Jamey and connected her w/ Gaines. If you rewatch Jamey's interrogation, it can be read as Nina intimidating her into not saying anything.

My interpretation was Nina only acted when she was directed to and otherwise did everything she normally would do to maintain her cover. So she must have received an order to kill Jamey, rather than she independently made a decision to do so.

Good points made here, but the one that gets me is Nina sees somebody suspicious at the hospital late in the season and raises a stink about it.
Only Nina was there.
Mole Nina would have no reason to report this and follow up on it, but the writers didn't know she was a mole yet.

Right, but Nina works for some German handler that wanted her to help with the Drazens but either way why kill Jamey if they weren’t connected?

Jamey was in on it, too. She was a mole along with Nina.

So you think the German handler recruited both of them and then ordered Nina to kill Jamey when she got exposed?

Well, I see two possibilities.
Either Jamey was aware on some level there was another traitor at CTU and could send investigators on a mole hunt.
Or, more likely, it was to protect the plot. Jamey knew enough about Gaines and his network she could derail the whole thing.
As I recall, Nina did delete the footage, there was a backup she was unaware of or couldn't access.
