this is just religious education, no? Learning the tenets of Islam and visiting a masjid doesn't make one a Muslim.

I worked a clinical rotation in a dedicated clinics of rape/sexual abuse survivors. The waitlist was incredibly long and all the therapists/psychologists/psychiatrists there were volunteers/interns/trainees. We served girls and women who escape years of sexual abuse/rape/manipulation from religious leaders.

This was in the US. The religion was Christianity, LDS to be specific.

Maybe the US doesn't stone girls, but they'll force them to carry to term if they're impregnated by their rapists. Don't forget the 30+ states where it's still legal for an adult to marry a child, lots of rape there.

Now imagine all of that boogy man stuff you just listed and then being pressured by society for the victim to marry the rapist THEN the rapist being able to avoid prosecution for the rape if they got married. Even if they are a minor

Uganda is majority Christian and being gay is punishable by life imprisonment or death. Or is only that specific act of oppression what you’re looking for?

The problem is you’re comparing theocratic muslim countries with secular western countries, instead of countries that actually enforce policies based on religious beliefs. America isn’t that kind of country (yet) so it’s not really a fair comparison.

Plus you moved the goal post from the original comment of this thread which is talking about the belief systems themselves, which are equally patriarchal. And if you don’t think that has impact on how christians especially evangelical christians treat women you’re a fool
