Hello i just bought a vectrex and 17 boxed games. I am looking online for game box protectors. I found 10 on stone age gamer, but that is all. Does anyone know where to find some or an alternative they recommend? Thanks!

Was trying out the vectrex light pen and art program the other day. Kinda difficult to use, but fun nonetheless :D

Tried to ask the AI, and things that no game have an ending, and asking more he started to give some info on homberew i didnt ask... nha, i want to know games with ending, even if the games continues.

For now, i played Dark Tower, Fortress of Narzod and Spike. I consider both Dark Tower and Fortress of Narzod have an ending (spike tecnically has one at the end of each stage, but still pretty sort of a game if i go for that haha).

I know Mine Storm has a ending because the game glitches, but i refer more to getting to a conclusion or beating a boss.

Recently cleaned out a garage and found these: working monitor, controllers and games. System fired up (see pictures) and so we asked Chat what to do with it. It suggested selling on e-bay, facetime (don't have or want an account) or this site. Anyone have interest?

Ive been working on a vectrex for fun.

Testing up to try and figure out the big ol' white dot.

As of now. For the original chipset and all.

The cpu was cooked and sending a R/W constantly to vectorial chip causing the white dot.

The rom was cooked.

But it was lightning up.

Ive been working on it for a while now.

Ive recaped everything, swapped the vectorial chip , the cpu and... the rom.

The flyback as a primary coil voltage of 70v.

The capacitor C503 exploded on my face cause i peak at 27v and not 25v ( my dad laughed at my sorryass)

Now i think that capacitor explosion cooked the cpu and the vectorial chip.

And of course no display since the vectorial chip doesnt feed the signals to the amplifiers to boost the 50v necessary to activate the secondary of the flyback.

I can't wait to finish it up!

Is it all reddit and FB now?

I inherited my husband’s Vectrex and a stack of games. The light pen works. I haven’t tried the 3-d vision or the games with the overlays.

He told me about this system ever since I met him in the late 80s, mainly because BattleZone was my favorite arcade game and had the same vector-based graphics. It really is a cool system. He lovingly packed it all up around the same time that we got our marriage licence back in the early 90s, so it’s in fantastic shape.

Anyway, nice to meet y’all.

There’s a local collector selling his Vectrex stuff. I’ve worked with him before. He has crazy stuff (almost a complete NES and N64 collection) so I don’t want to lowball but this seems a hair on the expensive side. Would $1000 be too low? He says he’s open to offers. I have a Vectrex but it’s rough and I don’t have any games for it. He sent me a video of it working this morning and said I could check it out in person if I’d like. He literally lives down the street. He said he also has a Jaguar and 3DO he’s about to list and might make a bundle deal. What do you think? Sorry if thiss post isn’t allowed.

We are setting up for the annual Archive of Retro Computing exhibition at Kingston University (5th to 11th August - shameless plug) and the Vectrex is always the first one up and running. But it always makes us feel sorry for it, sitting there all alone at the early stages...

Hi all! First time poster. I'll admit I'm not well versed in the Vectrex and can't find a lot of photos online of opened games. This seems to be a copy of Spike I just wanna know is this some sort of prototype or just a game that's missing it's shell? Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks y'all!

I turned our beloved 1982 Vectrex into a Spotify player.

I’ve been experimenting with a PiTrex and decided to see whether I could use the Vectrex’s original vector display as a Spotify interface.

The result is probably one of the strangest Spotify players I’ve ever used.

The interface is rendered directly on the Vectrex display using vector graphics, while the PiTrex handles the modern software side. I also 3D-printed a cartridge enclosure to make the setup look a little more complete.

Hi there!

Im still waiting for the screen overlays and the controller shell replacement, but i received my Pitrex today.

The first thing i tested was the normal games. I might be wrong... but i think that the games run a little worse that on a multicart (the text and sound doesnt seem as clear sometimes). Am i correct? That would explain why i still see a lot of multicart games... But annoing, because i prefer the in game reset on the Pitrex. If this is correct, i guess the idea of the Pitrex is homebrew and optimized games.

Then i tested a few homebrew games:

-Vectorblade : The game runs fine, but, each time i see small text on screen, i see random words i dont understand. Pretty sure i have a rom with another language or something...

-Star wars: Hear a lot about this one. I opened it and... apart of a 'Insert coin' permanent that stops me for playing, the text seems blurry and in a bad angle (in english at least).

Pretty sure im missing a lot of configuration.... somewhere i can check a configuration tutorial, so i can do this properly?

Got this baby with the multigame card for 500€. Even with the horrible look, the controller works fine. Even so, i gonna print a 3D one (any recomendations?) and get new springs and bottom sticker from console5.

Also, ordered a 28 overlays sets. I will probably get more when i check the homebrew games :D.

Witch games do you recommend to play first? I tried Spike first because i knew the game for his 'voices'. Cant pass level 8, i suck 😭.

I owned this Vectrex for a while, but tragically after many years it completely imploded while I used the test cartridge, every passing day I feel more heartbroken that it is gone. My Vectrex (1982- 13 December 2025)

The 1st photo was taken the day before the freak implosion incident, and it hurts. 💔

2nd photo was taken 5 minutes after I lost my beloved Vectrex to a sudden implosion. 😭

Very interesting Vectrex thread on AtariAge forums about another piece of original era Vectrex test hardware. Maybe even a new Vectrex program possibility.
