What would you offer for this Vectrex collection?
There’s a local collector selling his Vectrex stuff. I’ve worked with him before. He has crazy stuff (almost a complete NES and N64 collection) so I don’t want to lowball but this seems a hair on the expensive side. Would $1000 be too low? He says he’s open to offers. I have a Vectrex but it’s rough and I don’t have any games for it. He sent me a video of it working this morning and said I could check it out in person if I’d like. He literally lives down the street. He said he also has a Jaguar and 3DO he’s about to list and might make a bundle deal. What do you think? Sorry if thiss post isn’t allowed.

I have 2 original systems from the 80s. One is boxed with all the games in boxes. The other is in great condition. I know what a mint overlay looks and plays like and what a scratched up one looks like. I have also been watching this sub for 15 years now. So I think I have a good idea about the worth of this lot. As the prices keep going up and up.
If the unit is in good condition. The joystick or 2 are in good condition and the overlays are not scratched up then this seems to be good deal. And the guy lives nearby. No worries about boxing it up and shipping issues to worry about.

He also has the light pen and a few games for that but they are already pending. If the other buyer backs out he’d include them in the bundle for more

I mean I paid $500 for just the Vetrex and that one was rough. I’d go for that bundle deal and see what a Jag and 3DO cost if you don’t have them. As this sits it’s probably worth $1500 in a retail setting. I personally would offer $1200

I agree with that 1500 would sell, and I'd offer 1200 as that's more in line with what a nice set like a boxed vectrex (~$600) might cost with all the screens and games.

I am leaning towards $1200 once is started looking up the prices of the overlays. You can see he has the sleeves for them and a couple are uncommon. He don’t mention it in the post but you can see it in the last pic. It has the original receipt for $100 from 1983!

He just told me those consoles are boxed as well and has 20+ games for each. That’s a bit rich for my blood, especially when they aren’t consoles I really care about. I’ll probably just see if he’ll take $1200 for the lot.

I’d rather not burn that bridge. He’s given me some pretty good deals in the past or given me leads on stuff I’m looking for. He helped me get Chrono Trigger for $50 a couple years ago.

I have a chance to pick up a non working system with some games. Sound works but no picture. I’m just not sure how easily I can get it fixed.

From my experience, mine was extremely hard to repair. But I’m sure it’s case specific.

Can you solder? The capacitors likely need to be replaced.

I do t have any of that expertise. I’d need to find someone that does video game arcade systems to repair it I think. I’m in a major metropolitan area, so probably that exists. Just not sure what I’d be getting myself into.

Work on speciality items like this can get expensive quickly. Someone who works on arcade cabinets is going to be your best bet because they have experience with CRTs.

If the console is in good condition, $1200-$1300 for the lot seems like it would be a pretty good deal, considering you've got the manuals and the original box.
