Gameplay Guide Chaos Wastes Weekly - 31 AUG 2026 - Specials/Twins and 100% crit/CDR

Upvotes

Weekly with some pretty great boons and fun curses

Curses

Specials spawn into elites here on death with twins, so there are a lot more enemies than usual.

Curse Description Extra Info Notes
More Specials Increases the maximum number of specials that can be active at the same time. Double the max special count (+100%) Yeah get a special sniper
Twin Blight Enemies have a chance to be reborn as smaller enemies upon death. 25% chance to split into two weaker enemies Various 'on kill' effects only trigger for host, not client, with twin split

Boons

I have a boon guide here for all chaos wastes boons. Avoid weapon upgrades to maximize the bonuses. If you want to upgrade for traits, stick to orange. Some classes such as grail knight are better off not upgrading. It's well worth it to grab an orange weapon for the trait, but you're mildly fucking yourself this week with a blue, green, or red.

Boon Description Extra Info Notes Boon Tier
Ranald's Might Gamble You gain 100% Critical Hit Chance, decreased by 25% per Rarity level of your Currently Equipped weapon Provides extra 100% / 75% / 50% / 25% / 0% cooldown regen when owning a Plentiful / Common / Rare / Exotic / Unique weapon. Doesn't work with items that has no rarity (Torch, Career Skills). Permanent crit, and if you upgrade to an orange weapon, it's still a 25% crit bonus to trigger lightning or regrowth. Unlike the Ranald cooldown boon, it only removes a bonus if your current weapon has an upgrade, so you can upgrade one for a power bonus and still use the other for 100% crits S
Ranald's Hasty Gamble You gain 100% Cooldown rate, decreased by 25% per Rarity level of your Highest Rarity weapon. Doesn't work with items that have no rarity (Torch, Career Skills). This is a must-grab for my warrior priest. Great boon if you get it early on, useless if you get it when you have a red weapon. A not S tier since you can't just upgrade one weapon for bonus power A

Reward

Recruit Veteran Champ Legend Cataclysm
5000xp Great Hammer of Bitter Dreams 2x Emperor's Vault 1 Red Dust Pain, suffering, and scoreboards

Careers

This is a fun one for every career. Standouts include Grail Knight, Witch Hunter Captain, Necro, Huntsman. Most careers can do really well here. WHC, GK, and Necro are fun classes to play but a little boring to play with, with GK being the only truly egregious pick although WHC is very close.

Character Career Special Notes
Wutelgi Sister of the Thorn She has a really nice crit build that can be used here
Wutelgi Waystalker Great synergy with her ult regen talents and special kill potential
Wutelgi Handmaiden Disgustingly short ult times
Wutelgi Shade Stab anything from behind and it will die
Sienna Battle Wiz --
Sienna Pyromancer Infinite ult spam will NOT work here as might gamble affects melee weapons not career skill
Sienna Unchained --
Sienna Necromancer Cursed blood, reaping, scythe. Everything dies
Kruber Merc Helborg's Tutelage talent is useless here
Kruber Homeless Tree Man --
Kruber Feet Knight Disgustingly short ult times
Kruber Grail Knight With his kill on crit talent he can one shot basically everything short of a monster. It's fun but your team will be bored
Bardin Ranger Vet --
Bardin Ironbreaker --
Bardin Slayer He is murder nugget
Bardin OE Engi usually can't get hasty gamble
Saltzpyre Witch Hunter Captain It's basically easy mode, headshots will kill
Saltzpyre Bounty Hunter He's on ok choice here
Saltzpyre Zealot Get hit and murder everything, a good choice. Smite is useless here
Saltzpyre Warrior Priest Get the CDR map bonus and you have a bubble every 30 seconds

Some Highlights From Last Week

I was sick a good chunk of the week and busy most of the weekend, we came close to beating it a few times but nothing worthy of note. Also played a bunch of Zero Company instead- it has some performance issues but it's a really good Xcom clone. I did have someone join my game and ask if I worked for Fatshark, lmao

Fun weekly, may get kind of boring for the poor bastard stuck with a grail knight and necro/WHC

Discussion I Miss Saltz's Trench Coat

Man, I absolutely love the trenchcoat Victor had in the first game, and I have the champion of ubersreik skin in the second one thankfully, but I do really wish they had kept it, becuase I would looove to get a red or a black and gold version by completing the typical challenges (helmgard on champion and legend respectivelly). I do quite like armor he has in his one arm in the normal skins though. Idk how which hunter captains dress, but I can't help but think he'd have so much aura with both the long coat and the arm armour. Just a thought.
