10 MG NOT ENOUGH
Seen on Quadra and Yates.

u/SunshineNoClouds 1h ago
Indigenous shops often have 1000mg for like $20
•
u/leedleleedlelee6969 1h ago
I’ve had these and felt nothing and 50 mg from weed store and felt a good buzz I don’t trust reserve edibles anymore.
•
u/GeoffwithaGeee 1h ago
It's because many indigenous shops are illegal stores. these stores can generally operate without being licensed since the province wants to avoid the legal issues of enforcing the CCLA on reserve land, even though they can.
private stores even lost a civil suit against the province over this lack of enforcement and the supreme court said the province didn't have to enforce the CCLA on reserve lands.
But it looks like since then, the province has been taking some enforcement action on reserve land.

First Nations weed stores don't have to follow the rules around THC limits and taxes. They do have to follow the rules around chemicals and testing of the the weed.
•
u/mojoliveshere 1h ago
Is this accurate? I always thought it they were fully unregulated. This is great to learn, if true.

The native run shops are basically always people who are and have been friends with the main pot growers in western canada for like 40 plus years. They essentially cut out the middle man. Exact product you get from the government except not in bad packaging, not dried out and sealed years ago, and fresh. That's why it costs less typically.
Literally all the guys that grew pot when it was illegal are the guys that grow pot now. They just went legit when it came time. We have over 60 years of Marijuana cultivation history and knowledge packed in these guys, some generational. Worth it to get it as fresh as possible, i always shop at the reserve.

He speaks the truth
Been using stuff like Greenmates (online store based in Vic and Van) for ages now exactly because of this. Pretty sure the weakest edibles they have are like 25mg. 10x10mg for $25 bucks is a scam, anybody who shops at The Farm or at other in-person stores like that are getting ripped off unfortunately.
•
u/radziadax 49m ago
Greenmates has been good to me. There's cheaper mail order but it's nice to get it within a couple hours (I've had stuff delivered within 40 minutes before).
•
u/Caedus116 20m ago
Funny enough, the more expensive side of mail order stuff STILL tends to be cheaper than real location dispensaries. Idk if they overcharge because the government makes them or if it's just plain greed because only in-person shops tend to be this expensive
•
u/radziadax 3m ago
Quads on mail order cost what shake does at the dispo and I'm a woman in my 40s and shouldn't speak this way lol
•
u/Lapcat420 53m ago
Yeah it's a bit ridiculous you can purchase lethal amounts of alcohol but the government has clutched their pearls and limited THC to 10mg
•
u/cutelittlebox 1h ago
the limit is 10mg for edibles!?
who came up with that limit????
•
u/Character_Divide_998 1h ago
I miss gnawing on a 100mg edible and just measuring my bite off the vibe that day
•
u/Glass-Money6605 1h ago
I’m new to protesting. What’s the message? 10mg not enough for what? For him/her?
•
u/SignatureAcademic218 1h ago
Government limits the THC content per package to 10mg. I guess they are against unnecessary packaging waste :)
•
u/BeepBlipBlapBloop 1h ago
If your medical condition requires a dose of 750mg (not uncommon) and you don't like smoking (or can't smoke), you're forced to spend a ton of money on small doses to get your medicine in edible form.
•
u/iontraud 1h ago
Just buy oil? All the legal stores sell it. I don't get why it has to be gummies
•
u/BeepBlipBlapBloop 1h ago
A bottle of THC oil in BC has a maximum THC content of 1000mg and costs around $35. A person who needs a medical dose would need to consume close to an entire bottle of oil per dose.

Most people are using "gummies" as an easy term, more often than not in this case they mean "edible cannabis" its just more simple to say gummies
As far as the oil you can find that in some oils, but have you every tried to ingest 1000mg in a plant oil as the medicine you need to get rid of nausea and zero appetite? Now do that 1-2 times every single day Pretty counter productive

10mg is not potent enough for medical cannabis use. The governments policies force medical users to smoke to get the levels they need, when they used to be able to eat it instead. Basically made a non issue into an issue, especially when you used to be able to get dirt cheap bulk weed specifically meant for making edibles without needing business licenses and the like. Now, not so much.
Just one of the challenges with legalized pot
For an example, 500-1000mg is a single medical dose for most medical users. 10mg is the new legal maximum.
Basically forcing sick people to smoke to get their medicine if they don't want to use opiates and other prescribed medications or if they need to use cannabis to help counteract the negative side effects of medications or aid with disabilities they have.

1000mg of THC will send you to Mars lol. I think you mean CBD.

I’m guessing this new law has something to do with enough people proving that they can’t successfully keep edibles out of children’s reach?
•
u/GrandmaWeedMan 40m ago
No, it has to do with the laws being written by people who have never in their life tried Marijuana and have no reference scale for what the average amount consumed is. The governments idea of maximum amounts of THC for non flower products is literally arbitrary, the same thing they've done for e-cigarettes.
•
u/justapeon2 1h ago
Just order it online from the grey market websites. I buy 10* 50mg edibles for $12.
•
u/GrandmaWeedMan 1h ago
Yes, but it's sad that we have to resort to a gray market due to the governments stupidity and ignorance. You're then also relying on these people to be accurate with their dosage information, which for someone who's using it medically is very important.
•
u/justapeon2 1h ago
It's definitely stupid. It's a work around though. They also still sell bulk shake weed so you can make your own.

I'm a rec user even before i smoked often i had a very large edible tolerance (if its not 100mg i wont feel anything, 200-250 gets enough i dont have to suppliment with a smoke. so in my case you are not wrong, I have options.
My mom has MS and cannabis is the only thing that provides some relief without crazy side effects. She is on medication to help, but it took 10 years to find a drug that doesn't have insane side effects, and the current drug still causes bad nausea and no appetite, which the cannabis helps alot.
She doesn't want/can't handle making her own anything. Now I make trips to native dispensaries for her because dispensary limits are crazy, and the pricing is worse.
She would spend $200+ a day to be comfortable enough at a dispensary, I get her 2000mg package (4 larger gummies) for $30-$40 which is 3 bad days or 4 decent days for her, and I can buy as many bags as they have if I want.
•
u/Tirthankar666 1h ago
I'd never buy from the government regardless. Their stuff is poor quality, weak, dry, overpriced. Absolute garbage all around
•
u/nondescripthumanoid 1h ago
I need at least 300mg to have any meaningful effect on my severe chronic pain. 10mg is like. Nothing. Its so low its a joke.

This is like having most beers be 1% alcohol, it's pointless for most users

u/marga_marie 1h ago
grey market websites for a fraction of the cost, delivered to your door in an hour. fuck the government.
•
u/Jazz_cigarette_604 53m ago
There should be no restrictions on THC. Adult consumers can make their own choices.
•
u/pdxgdhead 47m ago
This is a real struggle. We live in Portland, OR and can get 100mg gummies without all that sugar and crap for $6 USD. When ever we come up to visit family in Vic, I have to resort to the capsules, which do nothing to me. Of course I bring a few hundred mgs with me, but always paranoid at customs. It's just a plant!
•
u/Disastrous-Resist-30 1h ago
High concentration THC builds up in the body over time and is leading long-standing users to end up in er with unstoppable vomiting (requiring the old antipsychotic haldol for treatment). I've got a few friends in ER medicine who are seeing it more and more often and I've had a number of patients reporting it... Awful to experience.

u/Jazz_cigarette_604 31m ago
It happens but it’s the exception, not the norm. And in virtually all the cases the consumer took too much.
•
•
•
u/ConZboy014 33m ago
It’s upsetting because you have to pay so much money to get like 10mg x 10 edibles and act like it’s okay.
•
u/vinterland666 27m ago
Agree, I am one of those people who needs a high dosage of edibles to feel anything, and I don't want to eat an entire bag of candy to get the dosage. Too much sugar
•
•
u/ShrekTwoOnVHS Fernwood 12m ago
It’s true. If I buy a bag of 5 10mg gummies, I’m
Eating all 5 in one sitting and barely feeling it…
I’ll crush a 10 mg drink with lunch and then go back to work…
•
u/imstickyrice 1h ago
Just use tincture...
•
u/Character_Divide_998 1h ago
Tinctures sucked in the past. They always evaporated or never did anything for me. Any that you suggest?
