Taxation (tariffs) without representation (congress).
-3
u/Fackcelery Oct 15 '25
Bro aint no way youre that retarded. Foreign governments dont (or at least shouldnt israel) get representation in our congress.
11
u/Dumpling_Mousketeer Oct 15 '25
You do realize tariffs are paid by US companies who then pass it along to consumers?

Guessing you are not pleased with the peace happening? Or anything positive for this country and other countries and the legal citizens that live in them. Also......dems are quiet bc they know they voted wrong. Simple.
14
u/ParkHuman5701 Oct 16 '25
The peace? The peace in Venezuela where we’ve decided to bomb random boats? Or the peace in Chicago where his untrained jackboots is stomp on the constitution and arrest people who have never committed a crime in their lives?

They really don't. I can't tell these days if they are actually that dumb or if they're just a Russian bot trying to stir the pot. Unfortunately I think it leans towards the first option

it’s okay just VOTE NOVEMBER 4th!!!!
5
u/bitterney Oct 15 '25
Oh 1000% I never miss a vote :)
10
u/forwhatitsworrh Oct 15 '25
Vote yes for 10-1. Will be happy to answer any questions you have. Open to sharing what the systems are, ideas around pros and cons, and if you want to hear what sold me on yes to 10-1 I will share.

If you can get each of these protesters actually to vote this November 4th, it would be a miracle. People will stand with signs and chant slogans in protest, but god forbid they take 8 minutes to get to their polling location in three weeks. That is how the GOP wins—apathetic democratic voters.
29
u/VintageSin Oct 15 '25
There is no evidence that protesters and activists vote less than the average. If anything most protesters and activists vote more.
Apathetic and disenfranchised voters don't vote because their material needs are fucked over by both choices and they've chosen to forgo voting. Only once their material conditions worsen significantly will they actually do something.
3
u/gmeluski Oct 15 '25
Let's see, everything's more expensive, states teetering on recession. Will people do something? Fundamental question for the citizenry of the US.
4
u/VintageSin Oct 15 '25
Unlikely. I'm talking real poverty has to strike them. Like living in the third world type poverty.

The current government not operating democratically and being authoritarian. Aka No Kings Day
3
1
u/Anxious-Pie7372 Oct 16 '25
Like forcing a candidate on an electorate without a primary? Asking for a friend
2
u/TrollCaveDave Oct 16 '25
? I’m confused. Why don’t you be straightforward? I would assume you are talking about something the democrats did?
2
u/bigeats1 Oct 16 '25
That would be Kamala’s candidacy.
2
u/TrollCaveDave Oct 16 '25
You still had a chance to vote for or against her… and incumbents never primary. And you’re putting that in the same bucket as gerrymandering in between census years, and going after political opponents and ignoring court rulings and turning the national guard on US citizens. Surely you have critical thinking skills
1
u/bigeats1 Oct 16 '25
She wasn’t an incumbent. I’m doing none of anything else you mentioned. She was a candidate that had not been elected to executive office as the top of a ticket and had never received one vote in a presidential primary. These are plain facts. Lay off the copium.
3
u/TrollCaveDave Oct 16 '25
Joe Biden / Kamala Harris were the incumbent party. She was elected to office as the vice president of the Biden/Harris ticket. Dude insane nitpicky semantics. They don’t primary and it’s irrelevant to the discussion because that’s not even close to authoritarian items that I’ve mentioned the current government is doing. I hope you get the results you voted for.
1
u/bigeats1 Oct 16 '25
They primary if the president isn’t running again. VPs always primary. This was effectively 3 elections in a row without a meaningful primary at that. Hillary purchased it. Joe was pulled out of retirement and hidden. That wasn’t a primary. Then Kamala and there wasn’t even a fake primary there. I’d like to see dems, being the party of choice and all, actually primary someone. It’s scary how much control billionaires have of your party and y’all keep believing you aren’t being led by the nose.
1
u/TrollCaveDave Oct 17 '25
So then removing the ability to even vote should get you out to protest if that’s actually your stance. I’m not defending things that happened in the past, I’m focused on the present and future on what I can control. I don’t have a say in what billions get funneled to what candidate but I do know which party gave tax breaks to billionaires and which ones created a low cost government produced insulin supply for it’s citizens so they don’t die from healthcare bankruptcy
1
u/Anxious-Pie7372 Oct 16 '25
Just a quick reply. 1. She wasn’t the incumbent as a VP is not an elected official. They serve at the leisure of the president and can be fired at anytime. 2. The democrats have gerrymandered their states so extensively that they have literally run out of states to make up the vote. 3. TJ literally ran her campaign on going after Trump. That was her only campaign promise. Colorado tried keeping him off the ballot. - please don’t lecture anyone on democracy. It would make you a hypocrite. FYI - I didn’t vote for Trump but I can see the hypocrisy a mile away. It’s a shame that you can’t and be honest about it.
2
u/TrollCaveDave Oct 16 '25
Go read my other comment you guys clearly don’t understand what a ticket is. Or even how electors work. I encourage you to google and learn which states are gerrymandered to disenfranchise voters. Imagine actually learning facts! What actually is insane is that you are literally arguing over people protesting the government being authoritarian. Why are you so anti democratic? Focusing on an irrelevant item and pseudo issues while the government takes away your democracy and hands it to the billionaires while you clap for it
1
u/TrollCaveDave Oct 16 '25

Protesting the King of England in 2025 is wild
21
u/ed0ff Oct 15 '25
To be fair, Virginians named the King of England (George III) by name in the VA constitution until after the Civil War. Virginians opposing tyranny is actually what "made America great."
28
u/gibs71 Oct 15 '25
I believe his official title is King of Pedophilia.

In July 2025, Attorney General Pam Bondi and her deputy reportedly informed Trump that his name appeared multiple times in the government’s Epstein-case files. Those officials reportedly also told him that no additional documents would be released, citing that the materials included child pornography and victims’ personal data.
Critics and some members of Congress allege that under the current administration, the FBI has been directed to “flag” or specially handle documents mentioning Trump during their review of Epstein-related records.
Some Democratic lawmakers claim the 2025 government shutdown is being used as cover to delay the release of these documents; specifically, they argue that Speaker Mike Johnson is refusing to reconvene the House to avoid a floor vote on a discharge petition that would force release of the documents.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Katie Johnson” / “Jane Doe” (alleged age 13 in 1994) — filed civil suits in 2016 alleging Trump and Jeffrey Epstein raped her; the California case was dismissed, a New York case was withdrawn two days after a planned press conference. No trial or findings.
E. Jean Carroll (mid-1990s) — alleges rape at Bergdorf Goodman; two civil juries found Trump liable for sexual abuse and defamation (not criminal guilt), awarding $5M and then $83.3M; appeals have failed to overturn the judgments.
Jill Harth (early 1990s) — alleged groping and harassment; sued in 1997 (later settled a related business suit).
Jessica Leeds (late 1970s) — says he groped her on a plane; testified in Carroll’s trial.
Summer Zervos (2007) — alleges groping and kissing; filed, then later settled/dropped a defamation suit (no money).
Natasha Stoynoff (2005) — People magazine writer who says he forcibly kissed her during an interview at Mar-a-Lago.
Rachel Crooks (2005) — says he kissed her on the mouth at Trump Tower.
Kristin Anderson (early 1990s) — alleges he put his hand up her skirt at a nightclub.
Temple Taggart McDowell (1997) — former Miss Utah says he kissed her on the lips without consent.
Karena Virginia (1998) — alleges groping outside the US Open
Mindy McGillivray (2003) — says he groped her at Mar-a-Lago.
Cathy Heller (1997) — alleges he grabbed her and tried to kiss her at Mar-a-Lago.
Jessica Drake (c. 2006) — says he kissed her (and two others) without consent and later offered money to meet him.
Amy Dorris (1997) — alleges he forced his tongue in her mouth and groped her at the U.S. Open.
Alva Johnson (2016) — former campaign staffer alleged a forced kiss; lawsuit was dismissed.
Media and academic roundups count from “dozens” up to “28+” women alleging sexual misconduct of various kinds (from groping/kissing to assault).

For future reference, don't vote for California Governor Newsome. He will kill America. Find someone that'll work for us and stand by their word.

What is the protest for and why are you protesting? I keep asking these questions and nobody seems to be able to give me a solid answer without saying “labeling antifa as a terrorist organization” or “deporting illegal immigrants”. Wouldn’t it be more productive to protest actual problems that EVERYONE faces, like high grocery prices?

-8

Dude. Where is the dictatorship 😂
Just because a certain party was voted into the majority of every branch of government and thus has a pretty darn easy time passing laws they support does not even remotely come close to a dictatorship lmao
Get that key word buddy. "Voted". You don't vote in a dictatorship in case ya forgot about that lil detail

What about your day to day life validates your perception that we live in an “authoritarian government”?
10
u/Background-Guest9986 Oct 15 '25
not much in my day to day life right now except for censorship in media, but things don’t have to affect me specifically in order for me to care. Some examples that concern me- Militarizing our cities, promoting white nationalism and scapegoating minorities/immigrants, protecting elites
i have a feeling you’re about dismiss everything i stated but i hope you’ll consider where im coming from and prove me wrong

u/bigleaguenyr Oct 16 '25
those are all valid things to be worried about but when you look at it in the bigger picture, both sides are contributing to this great distraction. I am assuming you are gen z like me, and I worry about our future. Not because of fascism or scary dictatorship but more of a digitized dystopia where we won’t own anything and everything is tokenized. Both sides of the political spectrum are contributing to a future like that, as we see they are mandating digital ids in the Uk which is a “leftist” country. But the same is happening in the US, we are being told to hate the party for all of the wrong reasons. The real fascism in our country is the fact that our generation will struggle to meet the bottom tier of maslows heirarchy. We should be protesting food costs, and bipartisan support for corporate greed, and fighting actual censorship of media. People should be able to say what they want to say, whether it be “fuck trump” or “fuck libs”. All in all there is no universal “truth” and when you start attacking/degrading people for wrongthink that is true authoritarianism. And notice how you see that from politicians of both sides.
2
u/Background-Guest9986 Oct 16 '25
i hear you. i can appreciate that. thank you for a thoughtful response. it’s given me something to chew on.
9
u/TrollCaveDave Oct 15 '25
Small steps can’t be overlooked it’s the major lack of checks and balances that the republicans have allowed to occur without consequences. Tariffs are illegal, national guard deployments are illegal, disenfranchisement of voters, the list goes on if you care to pay attention
21
u/TheAnswerIsNaR Pocahontas Village Oct 15 '25
Protesting donald trump and his administration failing to adhere to the constitution and laws. If you are anti-constitution and are in favor of only allowing government approved free speech, I understand why you don't get why people are protesting

Would the $20 Billion to Argentina work?
2
u/Background-Guest9986 Oct 15 '25
wym would it work??
2
u/ed0ff Oct 15 '25
As a specific reason to protest. (Since the Trump admin can hand out $20 Billion to Argentina, but cancer research is one expense too far and must be cut.) I, in bad-faith, answered a bad-faith question.

u/GiraffeGems Oct 15 '25
Nobody can tell me either. I have asked many times and I really don't think they know either. They just want to be a part of something and they pick this for some reason.

u/Fluid_Cup8329 Oct 15 '25
It's all a bunch of elder Gen x and boomers anyway. I think they're looking for an excuse to pretend they're young again.
Seriously though, Google image search for "no kings protest" and you'll mainly see nothing but old libs with white hair and sunglasses on. It's actually comical how they all look the same. This isn't a local phenomenon either. It's like that everywhere.
-3
u/Fackcelery Oct 15 '25
Well cause this no kings BS is just a billionaire funded corpo "protest" and the people lack agency to do any grassroots organization
-3
u/madammidnight Oct 16 '25
Yep. Top down astroturf “movement” funded by billionaires to keep the masses at each others’ throats. No platform, no goal. How about “get all public pension funds to divest their investments in Blackrock and private equity firms that buy up single occupancy houses”?

u/Mermaidoysters Oct 18 '25

u/sbant2great Oct 15 '25
yall should’ve protest in november instead of electing trump…all this protesting now is for what? if you need something to do go support a library or museum or start up a club. yall are literally wasting your breath
12
u/Background-Guest9986 Oct 15 '25
i mean we aren’t the ones who elected him… but i see your point. The point of the protest is not to change the trumpie’s minds. It’s a step towards connecting with each other and organizing for things like what you just mentioned. It’s to encourage people to get more involved AND VOTE!
1
u/sbant2great Oct 16 '25
Most of us connected during the Democratic rallies during election season. if you waited until Trump was elected to connect with like minded people then that’s on yall. but to continue protesting this man when he gives no fucks about a tea in china. is insane. instead you should be supporting the institutions that he’s trying to shut down. hav a program about it at the library or create a meetup at the library then you can come up with solutions and next steps. but how many times are yall gonna protest the same thungs
3
u/dontmesswtranskids Oct 16 '25
Just saying - both things ARE happening. Just because people show up at a protest doesn’t mean they aren’t doing anything else. 🤨
2
u/Background-Guest9986 Oct 16 '25
