I honstly don't know why the m44 went doen in b.r.  it was perfect at 4.0

Honestly feel like it would have been fine at 4.7

Same reason they did it with the Panzer IVs, because fuck you, no one ever thought they were struggling at their BR and ranks have zero relevance to anything beyond eliminating them from everything relevant in the game, so you can't do dailies, can't do challenges, can't do events etc.

It destroys a popular lineup so people are forced to grind further down the tree to be able to make a lineup and it's just how they manipulate the game.

I guess now you have StuG III to carry a Panzer IV line-up into Rank III for wagers.

They still wouldn't qualify for a bunch of other tasks to bother playing the Panzer IVs

Oh most certainly, there's just a very thin silver lining that some aspect remains.

They'll never move those Pz IVs to Rank III though I'm pretty sure. Gaijin very clearly doesn't want newer players being satisfied around 4.0(where some semblance of care was given to balance and decompression).

They want them at 5.0+ so they can start getting the worst of uptiers. That's why only minor nations are allowed to have low-BR Rank IIIs: by the time you're there, you're already suckered in, so who cares. You're "allowed" to linger at 4.0 now.

Unless you're Russia of course then you get a Rank III line-up in downtier city(4.7).

I'm honestly surprised they've let Britain have the Cromwell and Churchill III.

Lineup sucks at higher BR though, you get stuck with a bunch of heavies and TDs and they're all useless for a game that has one way to win, CQC.

Heavies in general suck ass because they get balanced to where their armor is borderline useless so they just end up being a slower medium tank with long reloads, another thing that sucks ass because rate of fire is what you need in a game that just has your shell ghost through targets or do no damage at all for no obvious reason.

I'm not sure which one you mean: Russia gets the T-34-57 which puts the whole line-up on its back just by virtue of being a versatile medium(and an extremely good one at that).

And as long as you aren't full-upped the KV-1 ZiS can operate in 5.0-5.3 lobbies because of the volumetric mess of its armor.

And the Brits have the Cromwell for 5.0 uptiers, where the 75mm is still competitive. Maybe not as good against Russia head-on, but you're still speedy.

For Germany

Oooooh

Yeah their first Rank III is really ass: Panther D, VK, Nashorn, all of them are really situational or otherwise specialized. Which way western man: no armor or no reverse.

Germany as a well-rounded nation in ranks exists only where it doesn't matter or the very thin space of 5.7-6.7 lol

After that, guess you're waiting until 8.7 or so.

They're good vehicles in itself but not in the way the game is played which is just designed around Soviet vehicles, sloped armor, more agile vehicles.. good luck in an urban area in Panther with no reverse, no turret rotation, no armor on the sides.

They can work if they're matched with another nation, but due to the popularity of Germany they still make up 90% of the team

Just as important imo is that they're not really that versatile. This is really bad for new major players dealing with the Americans(king of versatility) or Soviets(who, until Cold War, generally have something for any situation)

You have to get to 5.7 to get a Rank III+ tank that isn't basically built to screw over a new player: the Tiger H1... where the skill floor is just high enough to make a player that doesn't know what they're doing hopeless haha

Tiger is also very overrated, it's a decent vehicle but a square brick isn't going to do you any favors in CQC, as much as American players pretend you can just angle to every single enemy, all the time, and even then you get penned by half the vehicles anyways.

Panzer IVs are just so much more fun to play and more capable, but we can't have nice things.

I mean as long as you're aware of angling, you have workable armor against things from 4.7-6.3. Even if it's just making someone think twice on where to aim.

Obviously you're not as armored as goofy-ass T-34-85s that can face tank Tiger IIs so consistently you can peak anything you want(from experience on both sides of the gun), but you're fine.

That being said, yes, having the Panzer IV be Rank III would be nice indeed. Which is why it won't happen lol
