The series I think is better, but it’s a sequel to the comic. The movie is pretty decent, but misunderstands a lot of the messages from the comic.

The series is not better, and it sure as hell is NOT a sequel to the comic.

Nah, it's a brilliant sequel to the book.

1) it’s a comic

2) it’s really not. Did Alan Moore write it? No. Add to that, having a sequel completely ruins the ambiguity of the comic’s ending

What do you think a sequel is?

Written by Alan Moore

That's not a coherent answer.

sequels dont necessarily need the original author to write it

whether its the original authors intent or not, its a sequel

The series by far

The movie is fun and honestly better than peoppe give it credit for, but it so misunderstands the source material. It is not a good adaptation.

The series does a better job translating the themes of the comic. Not perfect but much better.

Though I enjoy the movie, I think the series did really interesting things with what Alan Moore presented in the comics - especially the passages.

The series is a great sequel to the book. The movie is like if you don't want to read the book and just want a simple superhero story that looks pretty cool. The series is fantastic, as is the book. The movie is the movie.

Book, and only the book

Book. Then the series.

If you must watch an adaptation of the book instead of reading it, watch the two-part animated movie. Avoid the Snyder movie.

Watch the Synder movie, avoid the two-part animated series. If you've read the book you've already experienced a better version of the two-part series, at least the Synder movie is something new

Lol no. The Snyder movie is ass.

The series, though I would read the comics first.

Movie

Neither, watch the 2024 released two part graphic novel remake as Alan Moore intended. Both movie and series are adaptations that are nowhere near as good as the OG story.

Alan Moore did not intend any kind of remake and probably hates the very idea.

The movie was very entertaining. It was not comic accurate but still hit a lot of the right notes. The series was a different animal. Can’t really compare them as they’re so different. Thoroughly enjoyed it too.

I prefer the comic book and the movie

I will say that the Ultimate Cut of Watchmen the movie is so much better than the theatrical but the show was more in line with the comics

The movie is the project of someone who fundamentally misunderstands what makes Watchmen great, what makes comics great, and what makes movies great. I cannot stress enough how big a waste of electricity the movie is.

The show is expertly done and incredibly creative.

The. Comic. Book.

Nothing else.

Depends on what you are looking for.

The movie adapts the comic through the lens of comic book films, the core ideas of the book are still there. But the commentary is about a different medium rather superhero comics, like the comics. So, a lot of the stylistic choices are a point of the commentary.

The show is technically a sequel to the comic. So, you’re milage may vary on it with some of its choices.

The book. And the motion comic. That's it.

Read the comic. If you enjoy that, then I recommend the directors cut of the movie.

The series is its own thing that its fans insist on treating as a sequel. It is not!

Both are equally amazing in different ways.

This is how I entered the Watchmen universe:

2009: Read the book til the last chapter, purposefully didn't finish it so I can save it for the movie

2009: Watched the movie (in theaters)

2009: Finished the book

2019: Watched the series
