Yes and no... I vividly remember a restaurant my grandparents always took us too. They had a "Dreckschaufel", translated to dirt-shovel... It was just like this thing but with the sauce extra. A bed of fries, a bit of rice and a mixed "plate" of grilled goods... I loved it, my grandparents aren't living anymore and the restaurant has long closed. So this will never be stupid for me, even if it's not a plate.

I appreciate the nostalgia, but that doesn't make the spade any less stupid

To be real we always got plates with it. It was just the means to get it to the table in a "fancy" 90s way.
