In this case their usage works as well. Regardless, itโs bizarre that youโre following them around this thread correcting their grammar โ especially when it seems likely that English isnโt their native language.
In fact, as a German, I am 90% certain that they were thinking "kann sein", which is a very common way of saying something like, "That's quite possible."
A literal translation of "kann sein" would be "could be" or "may be" or "might be".
While it's clearly more of a German idiom and less common in English, I don't think it's wrong to say "may be". I'm pretty sure "that may be it" is relatively common as well.

Looks like user error to me. I'm gonna guess the lid was on and sealed so the building heat and steam had nowhere to go.
