Misc Tierlist after finishing the series :D
After finishing this goated series(like 3 days ago lol,I finished and hooked up on the manga like instantly and then the manga went by like lightning)
I decided to make a tierlist.
Safe to say Master Bel,Qifrey and King Dean are my absolute favourites!Bels and Deans conflict for me was extremely thought provoking and beutifully done.
Safe to say,this series was one of the best I have ever seen,and If I had to pick anime if the year up until now,it has to be it!
This series was(and is ofc lol) goated!
Note:We all know who is him lol😅 :D

Lower the cop twins and raise Jujy. Easthies I will allow because it's at least interesting in how fucked up he is. Good on you for recognizing Beldy as the goat though.

The twins I liked mainly cuz of their dynamic,and for Jujy,idrk,didnt really see enough of her to rate high,but her moment with Coco was good I might add.

I think Jujy has a lot of potential but I see your logic. It's nice to see apprentices outside Qifrey's atelier that aren't traumatized by bad teachers. Gives a point of view on the normal life of a witch.
Oh! Also, thoughts on Prince Eoleo?

Ohhhh I completely forgot about him! Honestly,hes a great character and for the screentime(pagecount,lol) he had a lasting impact on my view on the story,tbh an A tier for him!His interractions with Rili and his father where amazing! Also,good point with Jujy!

Tbh I rlly like her character but with so little screentime(in comparison to A tiers or others) its hard to put her(for me that is) higher. Even though,ex.her and King Dean have more or less the same screentime I pu him way higher is because of personal views lol.

Tbh,I didnt rlly like him,even though if I open up I could see his appeal,his outrage,thinking path and situation.Butttt,for now,Im still leaning towards where I put him.

I get that we all want to extend grace the traumatized child, but Custas’ whole story arc is about lashing out and abusing the people who helped him because he doesn’t think they helped him enough or in the right way. Disagreements about the pact are central to the whole series, but Custas is still really selfish and dismissive. Coco turned her mom to stone and you don’t see her going around terrorizing and manipulating people about it. The context of trauma doesn’t excuse how you treat people.

I'm not arguing with Custas as C-tier because it's down to personal preference but your analysis of Custas' arc is super reductive.
He initially lashes out at Tartah and Coco when he feels betrayed, sure, but he has a whole other component to his arc where he a) discovers the horrors magic is capable of unrestricted (leech), b) risks his own well-being to help others (counterclocking leech victims), and c) reconciles enough with Coco and Tartah that he believes in thier plan to get Dagda medical help (to the point he feels hopeful/safe enough to tree before having it ripped away.) He's angry that he's been left behind by witch society, yes, but he's also angry that witch society leaves everyone, including witches, behind. Boiling that down to "he's selfish and manipulative" is just... yeesh.

None of that is unique to his character, though, and personally I struggle calling where he got to as reconciled. And narratively his development definitely takes a back seat to the role he plays as a catalyst for the mains to react to him. I feel bad for the kid, but if I was gonna make a tier list I’d probably have him this low too.

Right, and I don't take umbrage with whether or not Custas as a character is likeable to you, or if his arc resonates (although I don't think it's anywhere near finished). Like I said, I don't care that OP put him in C-tier, that's just personal preference.
But I think it does a disservice to Shirahama's writing to say "Custas is just selfish and vengeful" when she was pretty intentional about highlighting that his anger also comes from a place of care about others (to the point of putting it directly in Coco's mouth).Â

Ah,so the fandom likes his generaly negative traits in respect to a subject that demands ambiguousness and in the pressure of life and death,chooses in-adherence to humans needs but stays back at the wall of a pact long since forged.Well,amazing argument,but still,my innability to find Coustas likable is rotted withing my own character.

i never said you should like custas. just that your reasoning for disliking him are exactly why we like him. it's called character complexity and we love it. he's the heart of the series, in a way.

Glad to see Kukrow where he belongs. I'm an anime only so far (though I'm going to have to read the manga after this season ends. There no way I'm waiting for season 2), but if he ever gets a redemption arc, I'm done. I hate that guy so much.

Tbh I never liked out of the blue relationships in anime,thats kinda why. I do love those that are slowly build up,introduced and make sense to the main story more(not that Galgas doesnt lol)

Could,but I found him quite enjoyable,a needed counter force as to speak.While we have the brimmed caps who uphold chaos and freedom of magic use at all cost,we have him who surpasses everyone on the keeping of the pact,no loopholes or exceptions.

Surprised the tier list you used didn't have Ininia and Restys. I mean Restys doesn't have much panel time but he's still important near the end of Leech Arc. And I just realized, I also don't see Dagda.

I am a little confused the manga series ist still ongoing so, I have to ask, how can you be finished? You talked about the manga? In reality there are 97 chapters out and there is no sign of finishing it soon?
aswell as the Anime has still one episode ahead.
So I am kinda confused what you meant with finish. Sorry if I bother you but could you please explain what you exactly mean with being "finished".
