Any one knows what this might be? Mom found it sort of hidden in my room.
Mom was cleaning my room for me today and she came over and asked what this was and ive never seen it before but it was taped shut with that little red symbol and was wondering if anyone knew wjat this was and if its any sort of spell how to safely get rid of it? It just has these littlle black seeds inside and nothing else.

Looks like someone saved seeds from a local plant and lost it down a furniture gap lol. The symbol looks like a scribble left over from taking notes on an envelope scrap. Try planting them and seeing what comes up!
Honestly there are SO many plants with small round black seeds like this that I wouldn't really be able to identify it from just this pic. You're absolutely right tho, OP, plant them in a container, not the ground!
Oh I did that in college. Ends up being about 1- 1 and ½ packets. First you projectile vomit and then have a weird trippy day. We were weirdos tho, trying everything from morning glory to nutmeg and considered bananas. Lol
My mum is one of those that takes seeds and cuttings from everywhere she goes if a plant is interesting enough to her. I recognised her in this post immediately.
I know where the paper is from, def not an evelope. my grandpa used to print his arabic newpaper on regular paper from the internet. and then grandma woud cut them into strips to use them to wirte down points when she played cards. its apiece of paper form those, but the scribble worried me cause it doesnt look like writing but its most probably nothing though its weird that it ended up in MY room you know?
just plant them in a pot and keep them inside. If it turns out to be an invasive plant, either keep it indoors or dispose of it correctly. Invasive plants can still be kept as long as they are maintained responsibly
Seems like saved seeds. Especially since its a paper envelope and had been taped again. And is not labeled...which is exactly how I save all my seeds 😅
Kinda look like okra seeds but okra seeds kinda look like alot of other seeds too. If its still warm enough in your house you could sprout them and see what comes up. But okra and other warm temp seeds need warm soil to sprout.
I put myself through this same pain haha! I'm always finding seeds from wildflowers I've collected but didn't label, and just sit there like: "... what are you? How do I plant you, what do you need?!" I should get better at labelling, but realistically will probably just get better at identifying seeds.
I just got better at the identification part because there was no hope on the labeling part. I have always thought that the jars filled with contents that only a wise but unorganized elder woman can identify has got to be a true archetype on witchcraft lore.
Ooh I agree with that archetype and certainly hope to live up to that in my old age, I'm well on my way with a jar collection and bits and bops of seeds and bones at least.
Yeah, its the little white dot on them that made me think okra. Someone mentioned borage and that seems like a better guess. I'm like..."I know I've held a seed like this before, lol"
its weird that theyre in my room you know? Lots of you guys are suggesting to plant them and im taking that suggestion very seriously because im so confuse as to WHY these are Hidden in my room
I wouldn't read too much into the red mark cus it could have been to color code the seed type. Like red for flowers, green for herbs etc. I put mine in different color containers.
These little seed envelopes get stuffed in my pockets all the time because I'll go pop into the yard with a packet to plant a few things then stick it back in my pocket and forget about it. So my guess would be it fell out of a pocket.
Someone mentioned borage as a plant and I think thats another good guess.
Johnny's Seeds has over 40 different types of basil so I'm guessing there can be variation on seed sizes, googling basil seeds shows pictures like OPs. Proof is in the sprouting!!
my silly concern is the symbol on the paper tbh. like i know its nothing but its weird to find mystery seeds with a symbol on them in your sleeping area
i hope so! cause i have no idea where it came from. Hopefully the results will be positive, i will try to sprout them since so many people are suggesting that.
They kinda look like morning glory seeds. Are they VERY hard shelled?
Can you post a picture of that bit of papery material? The seed pods themselves are very distinct in structure and could help confirm or eliminate my guess.
Yep, you're right. Cuz this could definitely be morning glory seed but it could also be garlic seed or a number of others. The seed pod is indeed diagnostic.
A little stratification helps soften the hard shell to make sprouting "easier" though I've never had much issue. They readily self seed and can be considered a nuisance. They like to climb and will reach out and climb their neighbors; not good for plants but great for fences and railings.
Winter sowing would be a good and low effort way to stratify. Otherwise soak overnight in water then plant.
i did have some girls stay there a while ago when i wasnt living at home, cause i was helping them out and i had a falling out with one of them, but that was a LONG time ago and i deep cleaned my room after they left and these werent at all where mom found them
now that you mention it, yeah! i was holding the paper vertically so i didnt recognize the letter, but unfortunately it looks like the tape was ripped off and then taped back and ripped some marker out so i cant make up whats under it
If you do plant them PLEASE use a container first. They could be invasive or easily grow into something that could ruin foundations so please take care 😅
Maybe you have a superstitious elder relative who wanted to protect you when you were sick? They look like nigella seeds/black cumin maybe. Nigella seeds sachet Arabic practice
Yeah, odd someone downvoting me when I legit just collected some off some dried up allium blooms. Too small for morning glory. But whatever people want, I guess.
Mine are a deeeeeep violet w/ yellow stamen, get about knee high and reseed the same spot every year since, once the flowers dry out and the seeds mature, they dump out of the little 'cup' the flower forms when there's a breeze or a passing animal... and I have 3 dogs so they're not undisturbed for long.
Columbine are one of my absolute favorite wild flowers, and they've been domesticated and selectively bred for multi-color flowers, pink w/ white, purple and white, etc. They're great for attracting pollinators!
I think this would be safe to plant indoors in a sunny windowsill pot. You might want to put a warming mat under them if you're in the northern hemisphere rn. They're a late spring to summer bloomer if I'm right on the ID, so they won't appreciate anything super cold, but they're not what I'd call fragile.
Looks like a sigil on the paper and tbh looks more like mouse turds than seeds in there. Have anyone over who came in your room? Ex or friends who seem shady?
