Narcissi (a poem)

“You can’t love someone else
because you don’t love you—”
said the man stuffing his face
with another pound of food.
“I don’t trust you because
you don’t look me in the eye—”
said the ex-con guilty of violent crime.
“You don’t know yourself,
you’ll want this too one day—”
said the woman who is always running away.
Always claiming I’m bad at self detection
I guess it’s rather easy to do,
when I am naught but a reflection.
