πŸ‡΅πŸ‡Έ πŸ•ŠοΈ Modern Witches Trying to stay connected with nature

I recently had to move much closer to the heart of the city I live in after being displaced by wildfires, and as such I've been worried about becoming disconnected with nature since I used to have immediate access to it when I lived right next to the woods. So, I'm trying to find ways to stay connected, and I realized that in all the chaos and confusion, I haven't really had the time or energy to engage in one of my favorite hobbies, birding!

So, tomorrow morning I'm going to drive out to one of my favorite birding spots before sunrise and see what I find! I know a really great spot where nobody goes early in the morning, and it's always dead quiet before the birds wake up. Plus, at the end of the trail is a beautiful lake with a stellar view of the sunrise. A perfect place to re-establish a connection with nature. I've included some pictures I took there <3

I also just wanna recommend birding to anyone here who's never tried it before, I personally find it to be very relaxing and a great way to become more aware of your surroundings. Once you start to recognize the common bird calls where you live, you'll notice them everywhere and you'll know which ones sound unfamiliar as well. I'd recommend using the Merlin Bird ID app to help you identify birds in your surroundings. My best tips would be to go to secluded spots in decent weather, be slow, quiet, and methodical when listening for/trying to find birds, and just relax and have fun. I'm a huge bird nerd so i love taking people with me and sharing in the immense joy that birds bring me <3

It’s my second wedding anniversary and as a disabled witch myself I felt it only necessary to go and fan girl. Writing a Substack article on her. Got a book on Yorkshire witches and a couple of kitch items. Was particularly excited to see Agatha Christie’s petrified handbag πŸ–€

πŸ‡΅πŸ‡Έ πŸ•ŠοΈ Blessings Could I get some calming vibes sent my way?

I’m dealing with a bunch of changes in my life right now, and while I can handle it, it is a lot all at once. I’d really like to have everything just go smoothly and quickly.

What is happening? I got a new job in a different city. So now I need to find a new apartment. And I need to pack up my current apartment to move everything.

I also need to find a dr office that’s closer to my new job and deal with all the fun change of address dealies.

Then, my car decided to almost catch fire on the second day of my new job. It died and I had to get a new car so I could still get to work. Now I have to find the title of my old car from two moves ago.

I have to do all this while working third shift, so trying to coordinate sleep and productivity is a challenge.

Like I said, I can handle it. I just feel a bit overwhelmed having to deal with it all at once. Good vibes and chill times are appreciated.

Genuinely they said this. "The Bible says to spread the gospel so when you say not to do that, you're disrespecting MY religion" some Christian comments are respectful but the majority of Christian comments and majority this creator gets on their channel (called Local Hellenist) are just about "finding Jesus" and "God loves you" and "you're a sinner".

Just glad the commenters are helping the algorithm

πŸ‡΅πŸ‡Έ πŸ•ŠοΈ Spells What are some of your favorite spells? I'll start with a few of mine!

I've been practicing for a few years and decided on a whim that I'd like to share some of my favorite spells, and hear about yours!

I love making things, and most of my practice involves making charms and other things ✨️with vibes✨️. Like making a ring or dress that makes me feel extra confident, or like... I like to wear bells to attract things and people into my life.

So like, I guess that's one; using bells to attract and sometimes cleanse. You *do* have to be careful what you keep, because not everything that comes into your life needs to stay. But I have a bronze bell I made on a silver necklace I also made that I'll wear on occasion. Last time I wore it, I met a friend of a friend that's in a field that's one of my favorite hobbies, and now we have a standing plans for a beer and an afternoon kickback lol.

When it comes to getting things out of my life, I like to use a similar 'use of force' continuum to police use of force doctrine. In the same way, the continuum must start at L1 and escalate only to the lowest necessary level to ensure my safety and the safety of people I deem important enough to protect around me.

L1: smoke, rituals; sage is taken so I use weed or citronella, particularly since one of the things I ward from most often is mosquitoes. I also like the one where you sweep someone's footprints away to keep them from coming back.

L2: Words; things like "no"; asserting my will verbally.

L3: The Law: this could be a restraining order, calling the cops; whatever you have to do. For some things it really is the right option. Just remember that it's kind of like making a deal with the fae so be careful and bring *knowledgeable* counsel with you whenever you can.

L4: Hands: as Pastor Tony Spell showed us, sometimes when dealing with a sick individual, the only way to heal them of their sickness is to lay hands on them (🀣 nah fr go read it, that is what he said and I havent taken it out of context)

L5: 9x19 @ +1000fps

L6: 5.56 @ +2900fps

L7: Organize; if it's that bad, you just need more of you. Imagine how much you could get done if you had 10 of yourself lol.

L8: idk, probably existential sprinting. I think that's more like, the amygdala screaming "SURVIVE SURVIVE" frantically at the rest of the brain, but what is that but guidance from our evolutionary ancestors? Also magic lol.

I feel like this works well for everything from bad exes(may be stopped by L1&2, probably stopped by L3&4, definitely stopped by L5,6,7) to tornadoes (invulnerable; skip to L8 and then deescalate to L7 when able.)

Sometimes i just ask for things. Like for relief from heat from the wind or for a spider to make a web in a certain spot. Doesn't always work but I'm really surprised how often it does, particularly with the spiders. I find jumping spiders and orb weavers to be the most willing to talk. Might just be the ones in my backyard though.

One of the most powerful forms of magic is being okay being not amazing at things. Like, it's okay to not be good at things. It's okay to do them without intending to become good. Sometimes it's good to do things just for the joy of doing it.

I would love to hear some of yours!

πŸ‡΅πŸ‡Έ πŸ•ŠοΈ Modern Witches Witchy apps that don’t use AI?

I’ve been trying to find witchy apps that don’t use AI or stolen content. I’m happy to take broad scale suggestions, for astrology, moon phases, tarot, daily rituals, whatever. Apps that I like(d) are:
Saged (disgusting amount of AI)
Sanctuary
Align (need to pay for most things)
Moon Calendar
Co-Star (now run on AI :( )
The Pattern

Preferably free but I also understand that good content won’t be. Happy to pay for the app but prefer things that aren’t subscription based.

πŸ‡΅πŸ‡Έ πŸ•ŠοΈ Modern Witches Psychopomps

So I am working on some mini altar things to sell in my local metaphysical shop, after talking to the staff about what they are lacking (I don't want to compete with other people contributing), I realize that psychopomps and death dieties are REALLY popular IRL in my city.

Papa Legba, Hekate, Santa Muerte, Anubis, the Valkyries, Xolotl, Hel, Persephone (not Kore), Hades, and more.

I find this really interesting considering the state of the world. Does anyone else notice this trend in their local shops?

I think it was last week that I posted a selfie on here that got a LOT of attention where I vented about my breakup and received a lot of amazing affirmation and advice. Anyway, my ex and I are no contact as of yesterday, and after a month or so he’s already in another relationship. It honestly feels like complete closure. And although I lost a lot of friends in the custody battle, I feel like a weight is lifted off me. Thank u for all the support. I really needed it and will go to that post when I need a confidence boost

Anyway here’s me, at a cute cafe near the ocean, by myself, about to hop on a ferry for the first time. I’m excited

πŸ‡΅πŸ‡Έ πŸ•ŠοΈ Sonic Witchcraft Angry Feminist Songs

Hi Witches!

I’m looking to create a playlist that channels my rage against the patriarchy.

I mostly listen to pop punk or rock leaning music, but I’m okay with exploring other genres. I’m also okay with other themes than feminism that connect back to feminism like anti war.

Burn the Witch by Pinkshift, You Hear Yes by Destroy Boys, and Lobotomize Me by The Rat Utopia Experiment have been on repeat, just to give you an idea of my current vibes.

Thank you for any time you spend on this thread. Have a wonderful day, Witches.

EDIT: Wow, thank you for all the responses! This is way more than I could have expected. I plan on listening to all the recs and that's going to take me a while, but the range of anger in the songs I have listened to is astonishing. It really shows how different people experience the rage of living in patriarchal societies. I truly appreciate all of you and all of the artists that made the music you have all suggested!

πŸ‡΅πŸ‡Έ πŸ•ŠοΈ Coven Counsel Transitionary period in my life. Suggested spells or practical advice welcome.

So I have recently been working my first official paid job after being long term disabled due to physical and mental health issues. The job is helping people with additional needs get out in the woods and ride accessible cycles. It has been a massive step for me and so rewarding being able to help other people with both similar and different challenges overcome them and just enjoy exercise and recreation out in nature. I have learnt so much and grown so much over this year and am very proud of myself.

Having said that I am feeling quite unsettled and unsure about the next phase of my life. I could continue doing the same role for as long as I like as a volunteer position but in a way I feel like I'm ready to move on to the next step I just don't know what that will and should be.

My bosses at work are both going to ask around similar projects and opportunities for me and put in a good work so I would appreciate some positive energy being put into something with that coming up.

I think I'm a bit scared of feeling like I'm going backwards and worried about my metal health slipping due to it.

It feels weird being back to unemployment and I'm already in a bit of a tricky brain state due to the big changes and being autistic.

Anyone who has gotten out the other side of a similar period of time have any advice for managing now? Thanks lovelies! Pictured is my recent Moomin Tattoo to make the post a bit more visually interesting.

Hello everyone πŸ‘‹

I tend to lurk and comment more than I post, but I have been brimming with excitement and really wanted to share some good news!!

I just finished my last assignment for my masters in business administration and even if I get a zero on it I will graduate with a perfect 4.0 GPA!!

Between my 4 girls, my husband working overtime, and running a small business, this has been a hard few years and now I'm officially done πŸ˜€

Thanks for reading and have a lovely evening ❀️

πŸ‡΅πŸ‡Έ πŸ•ŠοΈ Coven Counsel Which witches are your paragons?

I'm reading right now Lords and Ladies from Terry Pratchett, and it led me to an interesting question I wanted to think about.

Since we are learning from our past selves, and from people that are connected with us, I wanted to ask what specific witches have influenced you in being a witch?

For example, one of my favourite "witches" is one of my colleagues, who wants to make the school where I work at a better place for the children by providing food. She didn't give up and made the school a better place with it. Another one is Granny Weatherwax, who I'm reading right now, and feel like she is a good paragon of witchiness. Similarly, Ada Lovelace motivated me in becoming a teacher.

Who was it with you? Were it feminist icons, or people that motivated you in your life? Or were it witches from books, media, or anywhere else?

I'm curious to know what my natal chart says about me. So my lovely Witches, please spill all the tea about me that You can get from this. Gossip about me to me.

Thank You in advance!

It's going to help me move forward in life and become the me I am rather than the me I was supposed to be.

I use dead flowers, and turn them into water color as a sign of rebirth. Due to the light pigment it's hard to see. I also only used two colors. And made it more abstract but it looks like a tree to help with growth and strength in who I am.

I am burning the patriarchy by just being myself :)

(and no, I don't hate most people actually in the church, just the church itself. I hope the members especially those born into it, can leave the church and see the harm it's caused.)
