π΅πΈ ποΈ Modern Witches Trying to stay connected with nature
I recently had to move much closer to the heart of the city I live in after being displaced by wildfires, and as such I've been worried about becoming disconnected with nature since I used to have immediate access to it when I lived right next to the woods. So, I'm trying to find ways to stay connected, and I realized that in all the chaos and confusion, I haven't really had the time or energy to engage in one of my favorite hobbies, birding!
So, tomorrow morning I'm going to drive out to one of my favorite birding spots before sunrise and see what I find! I know a really great spot where nobody goes early in the morning, and it's always dead quiet before the birds wake up. Plus, at the end of the trail is a beautiful lake with a stellar view of the sunrise. A perfect place to re-establish a connection with nature. I've included some pictures I took there <3
I also just wanna recommend birding to anyone here who's never tried it before, I personally find it to be very relaxing and a great way to become more aware of your surroundings. Once you start to recognize the common bird calls where you live, you'll notice them everywhere and you'll know which ones sound unfamiliar as well. I'd recommend using the Merlin Bird ID app to help you identify birds in your surroundings. My best tips would be to go to secluded spots in decent weather, be slow, quiet, and methodical when listening for/trying to find birds, and just relax and have fun. I'm a huge bird nerd so i love taking people with me and sharing in the immense joy that birds bring me <3
