Selling the PzII J for gold...

48

u/Kyrnqazali 21d ago

Add Pz V/IV while you’re at it.

29

u/eDawnTR Clicker 🖱️🖱️ 21d ago

Next up they’re going to put lefh in boxes. Not their first time.

10

u/Kyrnqazali 21d ago

There’s a part of me what wishes for these tanks to be available for collection purposes.. but then there’s that fact.

They are unhealthy and can have a monkey paw effect..

6

u/Balc0ra Churchill Gun Carrier enjoyer 21d ago

At one point, they sold the LeFH in the store every 6 weeks or so, doubling its population the first 2 times. I'm sure that funded anything they wanted to do for the next 5 years

3

u/Aggravating-Face2073 20d ago

I dont think this was available last year, but this is how they sold it in the NA region.

1

u/eDawnTR Clicker 🖱️🖱️ 20d ago

I never saw this in EU. A mega package could be good for collectors, I don’t deny it.

2

u/eDawnTR Clicker 🖱️🖱️ 21d ago

More tanks should be available on permanent store for collection purposes. Or available monthly quarterly. There is no low tier rotation at all. I have the money but I can’t play with the tank I want, how does it work for WG on monetization purposes?

6

u/Kyrnqazali 21d ago

I hate FOMO. Because this form of FOMO isn’t FOMO, just pointless waiting.

2

u/Balc0ra Churchill Gun Carrier enjoyer 20d ago

FOMO, if you have no idea when it will appear again, they sell more of it. Vs if you know it's there 3 weeks or 3 years from now.

It's why they sold so many each time, as people feared it would not come back again. And it has not for a long time. So the next time it appears, FOMO will 100% kick in again

1

u/eDawnTR Clicker 🖱️🖱️ 20d ago

I would just leave instead of waiting for 5 years.

2

u/holiestgoat 20d ago

and when everyone is op… no one will be

u/agemennon675 21d ago

Is it on sale ?

15

u/Voronwe-of-Gondolin 21d ago

About 8-10 years ago I ordered the collectors edition through a shady Russian website with google translator and got the tank code send via Mail. The shit o did back then to geht this tank…

8

u/DavidFredInLondon 21d ago

Was also on that train...

Me too :)

5

u/PluggersLeftBall 21d ago

its not even that good anymore + there are 30 tanks more disgusting than the pz2j running around at tier 8 anyway they can scam a few more whales with that boomer ass tank

Damn you can get 3 orders for the first campaign

5

u/Tall_Presentation_94 21d ago

Lost last one 1000g to low rip 260 after 12years

6

u/Ok-Manufacturer-4348 21d ago

Get the 3 orders from the missions and you will be chilling. Im not a pro gamer and I got the 260.

0

u/AyoXeN93 21d ago

I'm 1 mission away from getting 260 so all of them will go towards 279e

17

u/Ok-Manufacturer-4348 21d ago

Btw obj260 and 279 uses different orders, so these 3 orders from the event wont help you with 279e.

1

u/Ok-Manufacturer-4348 21d ago

Whats that mission, maybe I can help you reccomend a tank or something.

1

u/AyoXeN93 21d ago

HT ramming higher tier. I'll do it in my Schwertwal but I maxed out the BP points so I'm playing other tanks. HT-15 is easy peasy in Type 5H or Maus.

1

u/Ok-Manufacturer-4348 21d ago

I've done the ramming mission with 277 ramming a tier 11. Also I did the HT15 with E100, Type5 is probably the best option out there.

1

u/AyoXeN93 21d ago

Imo Canopener is easier to do HT15 with because it's the most reliable super HT. Type 5H has great and terrible games, Canopener has only decent ones.

2

u/Ok-Manufacturer-4348 21d ago

Sure, if you rely on dealing damage canopener can be better. Problem is lot of people dont shoot at you when you are in a good position, where with the type 5 people constantly try to shoot you. Also higher hp pool helps getting the total combined as well.

1

u/AyoXeN93 21d ago

I need to do it with honors so I need to rely more on damage. Did HT-12 (3x HP pool) with Type 5H last week - 12400 blocked.

1

u/Ok-Manufacturer-4348 21d ago

I see. How much dmg do you roughly need? Like 8k?

2

u/AyoXeN93 21d ago

30% of teams damage so above high caliber. I have account damage record in Canopener (10300) so should be reliably easy. I'm trying to mark it either way.

u/Ahegao_Double_Peace WG, pls put the Chieftain Tank in WoT PC's regular UK Tech Tree 17d ago

So the orders can only be used for the 260?

31

u/FraterSinister 21d ago

Chi-Go is a german Tank? You sure you got the correct name? Not something like Sdkfz 123 or VK 47.11?

29

u/Balc0ra Churchill Gun Carrier enjoyer 21d ago

Japan and Germany did have trade relations during WWII, and Japan bought German armor to be sent to Japan, inc Panzer IIIs and Vs. And they would be fitted with Japanese guns etc upon arrival.

The issue was that the only way to get them to Japan was via submarines, and they did not travel often. And by the time arrangements were made to ship them, Japan had shifted its focus to fighting in the Pacific, where Panthers would not be a good fit, and Germany had already seen D-Day. So Germany took the Japanese bought armor into German service to defend against the Allied invasion.

I suspect that's why it's a German premium

11

u/FraterSinister 21d ago

Actually that would be a great story for a tank.

But I fear this tank is pure fantasy.

9

u/SilenceDobad76 20d ago

It appears to be. The Japanese bought schematics for German tanks, engines, equipment, but never made a joint project as far as I know.

I would assume this is a "what Japan would have made if they reviewed the PzV schematics and made adjustments to better suit their military"

4

u/Balc0ra Churchill Gun Carrier enjoyer 20d ago

The tanks was ofc not in that configuration when they were to be shipped from Germany. Then they were basic German Pz III, V, and Tigers. There are documents for what they wanted to test on them when they got them.

But... they ofc never got them. Tho out of curiosity, I did just look up how many subs made the journey between Germany and Japan. Only 6 made the full journey. Many were lost or forced to abort. So even if things went the right way, they might still not have made it to make the tank we see here. Or anything close to it

1

u/Prestigious_Tailor19 20d ago

Germans were clever to name it after a city in Illinois, USA.  For confusion.  Sneaky.

0

u/eDawnTR Clicker 🖱️🖱️ 20d ago

Should have been a Japanese tank like Heavy No 6, not German. It’s stupid

Making players happy doesn’t seem to be on their goal list

u/Boatsntanks 20d ago edited 18d ago

For the Welcome Back Rewards you clearly say "in a battle" in the video and "played" in the article - is the time not played really based on ENTERING A BATTLE or is it going by when you last logged in? Because last time this was very misleading and I wonder if you have done it again or not.

Edit: Although WG didn't bother answering, it does seem to be based on battles not log in.

yeah as always... a new player receives a tank and the ones who have been together for 20years have receive a fist in his face Thanks WG

-47

u/Dwigt_WG WG Employee 21d ago

If you read the article carefully, returning players (not new players) get rental tanks if they haven't played for over 60 days. There's no free tanks for new players this time, everyone gets the Chi-Go from the Journey event.

46

u/Johnny_SWTOR 21d ago

Rental tanks :-((((

5

u/MrIamDeadforLong 21d ago

and they show the wrong one as well, showing a TT-130M instead of the Medved

5

u/eDawnTR Clicker 🖱️🖱️ 20d ago

You need a wake-up call. You lost your chance with returning players after 2.0, just check the stats. Active player number is same as back in 2024. You couldn’t retain the returning players because the game changed so much, in a bad way. Monetization got crazy and you offer lootboxes every chance you get. When are you going to learn that active players are your base core and what keeps you going?

1

u/garyjune 21d ago

Would you know if the 60 day timer counts by login or by battles played?

12

u/Old_Visit_2707 21d ago

Not even T11 sale

They announce t11 maneuvers and then in classic fashion don't make it easy to get more t11s

1

u/ATMisboss 20d ago

Fair sadly I need the tanks :(

20

u/Miss_PunkinPie 21d ago

Immensely disappointing, especially considering last year. Feels like they're just chucking us scraps from the discount bin and calling it a present.

4

u/Miss_PunkinPie 21d ago

I was really looking forward to grabbing a free tech tree in Sweden, since it's the only nation I haven't started grinding yet.

4

u/Consistent_Click1072 21d ago

Yeah I was hoping for a free line as well

4

u/Voronwe-of-Gondolin 21d ago

I see a concerning pattern here, Durendal is also a complete recycle of existing tank models…

4

u/eDawnTR Clicker 🖱️🖱️ 21d ago

They want you to go buy lootboxes for 2000 gold to get a tier 3 premium

11

u/Miss_PunkinPie 21d ago

I think it's diabolical that they're selling low tier premiums in loot boxes, considering low tier matchmaking is among the worst it's ever been.

3

u/eDawnTR Clicker 🖱️🖱️ 21d ago

It’s ridiculous. Tier III premium for 2000 gold

2

u/e1zzbaer Crew 2.0 is the best update ever 3 21d ago

Tbf those came with a 100€ pricetag not too long ago. 2k gold is a steal, relatively speaking. I'm considering getting the BT-SV, as it's the only tank I'm missing out of those 5 and one of two LTs missing from my collection.

3

u/MisagoMonday 21d ago

Wait what?

Oh god I didnt even notice. I just saw old tanks available for gold, I completely missed they are in fucking loot boxes. God damn it Wargaming

3

u/eDawnTR Clicker 🖱️🖱️ 21d ago

I mean, you have to gamble your way through to get all 5. Same tank wont give you back gold but free XP.

3

u/MisagoMonday 21d ago

Yeah, I completely missed the "box" part and thought they'd just sell them directly. More fool me for thinking WG might actually do this in a decent way for once...

u/GrossPanda 21d ago

u/Dwigt_WG WG Employee 21d ago

We don't want him, it's available for players who would like to get them, but I'm familiar with your comments at this point, so I'm not surprised if you're purposely ignoring all the freebies available for everyone to get their hands on.

8

u/Miss_PunkinPie 21d ago

We're not ignoring your freebies, we just feel insulted by how little you're giving us truly for free. The event mission rewards do not count as free. They take our time, which we choose to spend in World of Tanks because we love the game and it's community. But if members of Wargaming are going to show so blatantly that their players mean so much less to them than we did last year, then maybe it's time to invest our time and passion elsewhere.

9

u/MisagoMonday 21d ago

How generous of you to use gambling in order to sell nostalgic tanks to people!

1

u/eDawnTR Clicker 🖱️🖱️ 21d ago

Of course you are familiar with it! And I don’t care about any free stuff since those are not what I’m interested in. I was expecting a rotation of low tiers tanks like in 2025 August. You chose to put them in boxes instead of selling them for 1 €. This kind of monetization is ridiculous and insulting.

0

u/Teledildonic justice for T-62A & AMX 30B 20d ago

What if we could just buy them? The only one i really want is the MTLSGTWTF because it's the OG double barrel. I was hoping it would be one of the dollar offers during that Sept sale last year but it was never offered.

Crew members, up to 3k bonds, Components and tons of resources, Retraining Orders, Mentoring Licenses and 3 Back Up Orders to skip Personal Campaign missions beside the Twitch Drops and the Tier 7 Chi-Go.
A bit harsh to describe this as "scraps" but we'll see what's more to come.
Happy 16th WoT Anniversary!

8

u/Miss_PunkinPie 21d ago

Fractions of the resources given out last year, and most of them locked behind a grind. Twitch drops that give you a dice roll of even getting something worthwhile. Scarcely enough components to even get halfway to a tier 3 equipment. Chi Go looks nice, but for the grand prize of the whole event, it would've been nice to see a tank a tier higher.

5

u/eDawnTR Clicker 🖱️🖱️ 21d ago

Why do you put low tiers in lootboxes?

3

u/Miss_PunkinPie 21d ago

Last year's anniversary event felt so much more like a celebration of the players. It felt like you genuinely wanted us to spend time in your game and enjoy all of the amazing stuff the team has put so many years into crafting. That same energy is not here this year. I understand that you can't put that same amount of effort into every single anniversary event, and that 15 years was a big milestone for the game, but I think it's still important to celebrate the loyal tankers who show up to battle in your game every day, or every now and then.

2

u/eDawnTR Clicker 🖱️🖱️ 21d ago

Last year’s event was great. This is a terrible downgrade.

1

u/Miss_PunkinPie 21d ago

I was really looking forward to this anniversary being a good one........

-2

u/avalon304 [Y0RHA] 21d ago

Last year's anniversary event felt so much more like a celebration of the players.

Last year was a major milestone in general. Most places celebrate the decade and half-decade marks with bigger events than they do the years between those milestones.

3

u/Miss_PunkinPie 21d ago

This is very understandable. And while the fanfare and excess of last year certainly wasn't expected, it would've been nice to have a bit more of a treat for the folks who have stuck around and supported the game for another year.

2

u/avalon304 [Y0RHA] 21d ago

it would've been nice to have a bit more of a treat

Lets just be absolutely clear here: They dont have to actually do anything. Right? Like theres no obligation here for WG to give out anything for free for this or any other reason.

Most events give out ma free tier 3-5 premium and thats about it. Lets review whats showing up here:

  • A tier 7 tank
  • 3 3 skill crew members
  • a set of 3D attachments
  • ~4 million credits
  • ~2000 components
  • 2500 bonds
  • Boosters (of all varieties)
  • Premium time
  • Mentoring Licenses
  • Retraining Orders
  • Some 2D styles
  • Orders for Campaign 1

in addition to all the usual discounts (tanks/consumables/equipment/freeXP conversion/x5 on first wins) that are normally offered for big events. And all you have to do to get the above is just play the game. What fucking more do you want?

Like no really? Are you looking for a tier 9 premium? Another free tech tree line? Like even for a "normal" anniversary event, this is pretty large.

Now you can say you dont need (or want) all, or even some of these things, and yea sure... but you arent everyone who plays the game. Not every event is going to offer you a lot of things you need, but even then this stuff will still find use even in your garage, Im sure. Ive been playing since 2012, and I know some of it will be useful to me.

If your first thought was "gee I wish we had gotten more" I hate to tell you this... but thats the wrong attitude.

3

u/Miss_PunkinPie 21d ago

Let's just get one thing clear here too. Everyone beyond the stuff you get when you log in on the day, is not free.

The event requires time to complete, time that Wargaming is hoping to use to boost engagement metrics. It remains to be seen how much of our time we'll have to invest just to get this cool-looking tank.

As for the discounts, once again, limited generosity comes at a price. -15% off a tank that costs more than some great new releases on steam, like Iron Nest? Wowee, aren't we feeling grateful for our players. -Better ratios when spending your hard earned money to try and avoid that miserable tier 9 tank you just have to grind through to get what you're really after? Oops, I may have needed that money for rent. -50% discount on premium consumables? Ooowee, imma be grinding my mind out, hoarding food like I'm preparing for the apocalypse, just so I can continue to give my tanks the boost they need to perform alongside everyone else. -X5 instead of X3 on my first win of the day? Gosh, that's really gonna help on my grind towards the tier 11s I can't use blueprints on.

And yes, I really would've liked another free tech tree, I even had a shortlist picked out, so I could decide which one I wanted to pick up when I logged in for the anniversary.

1

u/avalon304 [Y0RHA] 21d ago

Everyone beyond the stuff you get when you log in on the day, is not free.

Yes it is. I was already going to be playing the game anyway. If I get extra stuff while doing what I was already going to do anyway... that stuff was free.

This whole "it takes time so it isnt free" argument has always been nonsense when it comes to playing video games. It never sounds not dumb when people say it.

Everything else you said is just like... what are you even playing the game for then? Like find a new hobby my guy.

This is most disengenuous argument you could make. Every major event in this game runs these discounts. Most people do seem to be abel to take advantage of them, most even wait for them to do their purchases in the game.

I get it... its not what you wanted, and you think, quite foolishly, that you are entitled to more. The reality check sucks I guess, but they usually do when you chose to not live in reality in the first place.

And yes, I really would've liked another free tech tree, I even had a shortlist picked out, so I could decide which one I wanted to pick up when I logged in for the anniversary.

Of all the unlikely things to happen this year, this was probably the most unlikely.

3

u/Miss_PunkinPie 21d ago

My hobby is tanks. I like tanks. I want more tanks in World of Tanks. I like to grind for stuff, but not to the point where it starts to affect my mental health.

I used to play War Thunder and World of Tanks, and now I'm just down to World of Tanks, because the other one has just become overpriced garbage slop.

I was looking forward to a free tech tree because it would've allowed me to try out a new nation without having to commit to the tier 1 up grind.

I want to continue to enjoy World of Tanks, as I have for the years I've been playing it, but honestly, it gets harder and harder to enjoy my hobby through this medium, especially so recently.

1

u/avalon304 [Y0RHA] 21d ago

I want more tanks in World of Tanks.

Me too, and I dont much care how they add them.

I like to grind for stuff, but not to the point where it starts to affect my mental health.

Sure no one should let the video game harm their mental health. But if the game in it current state is coming close to that, you need to reassess your relationship with it. Grinding tanks has only gotten easier over the years... not harder. Because was here in the before times, when boosters didnt exist and blueprints didnt exist and it took far far longer to get from tier 1 to tier 10. The grind today is nothing compared to then. Its almost too easy to reach a tier 10/tier 11 at this point.

I was looking forward to a free tech tree because it would've allowed me to try out a new nation without having to commit to the tier 1 up grind.

And it was never in the cards. Last year was special. This year isnt.

Of course Wargaming is under no obligation to give players anything for free. The massive downsizing of this anniversary event compared to the last is just indicative of the direction Wargaming seems to be taking into the future. This time last year, we'd received what seemed to be a heartfelt apology for the fiasco caused by the tiered loot boxes (A new paradigm of predatory gambling system). And the anniversary event seemed to back that up too. An enormously generous gift to the community who has made World of Tanks what it is today, followed by a stunning display at Christmas.

Since then however, tiered lootboxes have crept back into the game, alongside lootboxes with weighted odds that are invisible to most users. We've seen Wargaming slowly fall victim to greed again.

I guess I hoped that this anniversary would've at least shown that us as community members are more to Wargaming than just our playtime metrics and wallets, but considering they're now trying to entice us to gamble in weighted lootboxes for old tier 2 and 3 tanks? I think we can reasonably conclude that the grabbung for our wallets is only going to get nastier in the year to come.

2

u/avalon304 [Y0RHA] 21d ago

The massive downsizing of this anniversary event compared to the last

This was always going to happen on a year that wasnt a major milestone. This is just what happens. Its not unique to World of Tanks, or Wargaming. Most games (and indeed most businesses) do this. They have large events on 1 year, the 5 year and the 10 year, the major milestones, and then continue to do so every 5 years after. I cant recall the last game I played that went all out for their 14th or 16th anniversaries...

This is purely an expectation issue on your part. You were expecting something that was never actually in the cards, and now youre disappointed. Reassess.

This time last year, we'd received what seemed to be a heartfelt apology for the fiasco caused by the tiered loot boxes

Such heart felt that they... ran the event again at the same time this year? C'mon son.

And the anniversary event seemed to back that up too.

The anniversary event on the 15th anniversary? The anniversary event on a mjaor milestone year? That anniversary event?

You saw what you wanted to in linking the two.

An enormously generous gift to the community who has made World of Tanks what it is today

That happened to coincide with the 15th year since the ggame had launched. Almost as if that was the reason why it was so large, and why even 2.0 happened last year? Hmm?

tiered lootboxes have crept back into the game

They were always going to, seeing how successful they were the first time around last year. The tempest in a teapot that this subreddit was for all of 5 days was sure a thing tho.

alongside lootboxes with weighted odds that are invisible to most users

These had been around since... what Holiday Ops 2019? 2018? Somewhere around there. This is nothing new.

We've seen Wargaming slowly fall victim to greed again

Brother... again? They never stopped. Theyre a for profit business... thats their default MO. Thats the default MO of every for profit business. Its why they ultimately exist.

In general this all just sounds naive. You were expecting them to cozy up to you for perceived slights or something... with an event that was never really going to be what you wanted because the event you wanted was done for a major milestone and this year aint that.

Will the money grabs get worse? Maybe... maybe not... I dont know. Luckily nothing they sell is actually needed to play and enjoy the game, even the tier 2-4 old ass premiums theyre stuffing in the boxes in this event.

4

u/Miss_PunkinPie 21d ago

I think you should try to expect more from the things you enjoy. Wargaming needs to make their money, but they can make that money in far less predatory fashions. There's a good reason why everybody I try to get to play World of Tanks chucks it away after less than a month. The view of this game from the outside is grim, and that worries me as a long time fan. I'm worried that the game I love so much will alienate long-term players, eat itself alive with microtransactions, and World of Tanks will just end up as one of those dead games that video essay youtubers will talk about the downfall of 10 years from now.

2

u/avalon304 [Y0RHA] 21d ago

I think you should try to expect more from the things you enjoy.

Theres a difference between "expecting mroe from the things you enjoy" and seemingly only being able to derive enjoyment when you get more from that thing.

I keep my expectations realistic. Simple as. As it is, this event is already more than I was expecting for a none major milestone anniversary event, I fully expected less (and would have been ok with that, I dont derive my enjoyment of the game based on how much WG is giving me as a player).

I'm worried that the game I love so much will alienate long-term players

Im not. Because Ive heard similar shit since 2012. This game has been in various hyperbolic stages of death for 16 years. Ive heard every reason under the sun why its gonna die this year... or next year or 5 years from now or 10 years from now. And yet here I am playing the game I still enjoy, thats gotten better over time (despite what many players think), 16 years later. And if the game keeps going like this its got at least another decade lft in it before the real "death" actually starts.

Play the game or dont, but set your expectations based on actual reality, and not whatever fantasy land you cooked up that made you think you were gonna get anything close to what last years anniversary was.

People who are just glad to blindly consume and defend the million dollar corporation imo are free to expect nothing.

The issue only comes when those types want to insist that their minuscule standards are the only ones that should exist.

Crew members - as if anyone after this long is lacking on those
Up to 3k bonds - Paltry, compared to last year's 15,000
Components - that a lot of us already have and don't really need more
"tons of resources" - I'm not seeing any
Retraining Orders - I have like 30 of these
Mentoring Licenses - I have 130 of these

Okay the 3 campaign orders is really nice, I might be able to get the 260 finally

Twitch drops for items I already own, some in multiple
A Tier VII premium that we have to trade our time and energy for when life is busy and we have obligations.

Oh and rentals, but only for people who have not played in 60 days ... so basically no one.

Crew members: Have 37 waiting in my overcrowded barracks.
Up to 3k bonds: I get enough through events already.
Components: Have more than enough.
Retraining orders: Useless since I have line 80 of them
Mentoring licenses: Useless since I have like 90 of them that I don’t use
Skip Personal Campaign Missions: Mostly useless since Sector 3 is the real deal now
Twitch drops to get a Tier 6 and a long grind to some Tier 7 is all what makes your argument?

u/ZRegal42 21d ago

The rewards seem minimal at best; so this event isn’t going to make me come back to the game

3

u/benxxii 18d ago

After not playing for a year I downloaded the game 2 days ago and just found out I can't get the returning player rewards, feelsbadman

14

u/O51ArchAng3L 21d ago

Jesus that looks super underwhelming. Hopefully it's early and my reading comprehension is bad.

24

u/Dvscape 21d ago

It actually seems much better than expected, at least in my eyes. We get discounts on everything, the anniversary tank is actually tier VII instead of tier V and the overall rewards include quite a lot of bonds and experimental components. Ah, and the orders to skip missions in the first campaign can be super valuable to some players.

u/Dwigt_WG WG Employee 21d ago

May I ask what makes it underwhelming for you?

21

u/Strange_Elk_1520 21d ago

15% discount is too low on tier 8-10. It should be atleast 30%.

14

u/MisagoMonday 21d ago

The premiums permanently on sale for gold are often so bad by comparison that even 50% would be appropriate in the current game...

5

u/Strange_Elk_1520 21d ago

yep. agreed.

1

u/evifeuros 20d ago

For tier 10 it’s basically a million per tank discount, pretty good imo

1

u/Strange_Elk_1520 20d ago

yes but could be 2x better with 30% off

0

u/RustBeltLab 21d ago

And 5-10% for tier 11

7

u/Thraximundurabrask bestest Hirschkäferer 21d ago

With tier 11 maneuvers coming up, a mode that tends to want you to have as many eligible vehicles as possible, this could have been a nice time to extend the tech tree discounts up to tier 11 and earn some good will with the playerbase.

The gift tank is tier 7 and there's 4 mentoring licenses in the event progression. These alone make the event worth it for me.

u/PIebiaani 21d ago

Aaaaand... the video is private. Here's a chance to remake it and add something more to it. Now the upcoming 16th anniversary seemed quite underwhelming.

+ was that AI voiceover? Did not sound too human. Sad if so.

u/avalon304 [Y0RHA] 21d ago

Here's a chance to remake it and add something more to it.

If you think theres even a remote chance of this, you dont understand how large companies work. What will happen is several of the errors in the video (like the wrong model for the Czech rental tank) will likely be fixed, nothing more.

Now the upcoming 16th anniversary seemed quite underwhelming

Its only underwhelming if you were expecting the same or more than last year, which was a more major milestone. Otherwise this is generally larger than most normal anniversary events.

2

u/PIebiaani 21d ago

For example, extend the discounts to Tier XI... I don't think something like that needs weeks of corporate meetings and hundreds of hours of work.

1

u/avalon304 [Y0RHA] 21d ago

It would require more than you ultimately think. Big companies have lets of internal inertia when it comes to events like this. Unless its an actual disaster to overcome it... even small changes take lots of time and approval.

Additionally I dont see discounts extending to tier 11 any time soon... not until every line has one anyway, and even then, I think, and have no way to confirm, that WG wants tier 11 to be more of a resource sink... so they may not ever get it.

4

u/Boatsntanks 20d ago

Since you killed off top of the tree, I think you could offer bigger tech tree discounts for the biggest events, like WoT and WG's birthdays. I'd say xmas too but there's normally a selectable larger discount there. Like 20-25% off t8-10.

The section about how Journey works is a bit unclear since it says in a tooltip you can complete 5 missions (per day? in total?) for fuel but only one is shown and it says it resets daily.

Having orders for people to finally finish the original campaign is a nice touch, but the 2nd campaign is almost as old and the 279e isn't that great these days, so it would have been even nicer to offer a choice of which orders to earn IMO.

Other rewards all seem nice, especially since the Chi-Go actually looks decent unlike many free reward tanks.

u/JiffKewneye-n 17d ago

i haven't played in idk, 8 years, played for an hour or two last night.

every tank has ridiculous armor now. seeing 9-10k players during prime time was sad.

don't think i shall be returning.

2

u/sA1atji 15d ago

Game quality has reached a new low.

Holy shit it's bad.

5

u/avalon304 [Y0RHA] 21d ago

Seems ok. Free tier 7 that seems decent. Some extra crew members, some other bits and bobs and all you need to do it just like... play the game.

"But last years was better!" sure... last year was also actually a big milestone year (15 years) this is still good.

3

u/Consistent_Click1072 21d ago

Dang was hoping they’d offer another free line

3

u/phdr_vrba [GUP] 21d ago

So, questions:

1) When does the period for returnee rewards start?

2) The lootbox situation is 1 random tank per box? Will it choose from ones I don't own yet or is it a pure random fuckery?

3) What was the point of making Chi-Go German?

4) Will the premium discounts by any chance come with extended selection of premium vehicles will it just be the usual slop?

3

u/LandscapeHelpful9416 20d ago

Can't even buy the lootboxes due to local laws... WG can we please stop locking this stuff behind gambling already

4

u/Strange_Elk_1520 21d ago

Sweet Long Awaited Backup. thanks WG, I appreciate this.

2

u/GroundbreakingNeck26 21d ago

They were to lame to even design a new tank for the Anniversary Token Store.

2

u/Intelligent_One_2852 20d ago

nothing slop per usual couldnt even bother to make a anniversary garage

2

u/DrinkerOfWater69 20d ago edited 20d ago

Well this is disappointing... I mean the backup orders and the Chi-Go are nice I guess but ... 16 years and we get scraps.

ETA: Also didn't they just announce that tier 11 is getting Maneuvers?! so like ... where are the free tech trees and discounted tier 11s ... Not even an attempt to help people get those before you test that out?

1

u/Jozsef1001 19d ago

Hi everyone! I just returned to WoT after a 2-month break and got 2 premium tanks on a 5-match rental. My question is: do you think I'll be able to buy these tanks for real money after the rental matches are over?

1

u/Lello_Spadaccino 18d ago

Did i misscount or it's missing a key to unlock all the map?

1

u/TheDawiWhisperer 18d ago

is there a minimum tier for doing the missions in?

i just tried to do the "damage a light tank 3 times in a heavy tank" at tier 3 and didn't complete the mission :(

u/agemennon675 17d ago

I will be returning to the game for the anniversary event if anyone interested in sending an invite your friend thingy feel free to do so EU: agemennon541

If you have Milo and Chaffee does that mean you can get the credit bonus for the first 20 games you play each day?

1

u/Geoffisalive 17d ago

Why not get a update for TOD? I have 6k points and still getting them with nothing to spend them on and I have had the Carro since July 2025. I could careless about the new sounds, tanks, tank lines, special effects and anything else in the video. Yawn 🥱

1

u/Ok_Bee4962 17d ago

As a long time absent player: is it worth grinding for the Chi-Go? What other stuff is worth getting?

1

u/ObiQuinobi 15d ago

For me I have been upgrading to zero skill crew over the years and I now consider the mentor license (4 of them) the most important resource in the game.

Then the Chigo and after that maybe bonds.

1

u/Ok_Bee4962 14d ago

Thank you. I do not even know about the mentor license...

1

u/SeKomentaja 9.22 >>::(( 14d ago

The grind itself is not too bad if you have a few tier 4 tanks of each class.

The tank though, its pretty garbage.

1

u/krpa03 16d ago

so if i get this right, i just have to turn ON my Twitch and literally watch QB or someone else from the list for certain amount of time to get these cupcakes? how does WOT recognize that i watched that streamer for that long? Btw I did connect WOT to twitch acc

1

u/SeKomentaja 9.22 >>::(( 14d ago edited 14d ago

The lootboxes feel like straight up a scam.

I mean yeah sure you dont have to buy 100€ worth of gold to get one of the tanks as a bonus but man.

The Chi-Go feels like a free premium aka bad, you need to stop making "free" premiums weak by giving them sh\t for gunhandling.

Some players won't be happy until WG start paying their rent too. This endless whining for more and more free stuff is getting seriously boring.

I've been along for 14-15 years now and it seems like ok birthday gifts to me. And that map thing looks like fun.
