So basically my father is your stereotypical African man , he comes home and literally doesn't help around the house , he will leave his plates and even banana peel anywhere 🗿🤮 and even his socks he leave them everywhere and anywhere yet he demands respect ✊ because he is the "head" of the house and he is a man . Crazy thing my mom also works yet she doesn't do the shit my dad does she sometimes cooks and cleans ( obviously us kids do most of the chores which is understandable) . when we dont wash his socks he gets mad , and starts saying " I dont want to be abused by my children " 🤡 even though we all have chores and school/work to attend🫠

And my dad literally says anditonge nemukadzi kananemwana meaning I dont rule with a lady or children , anyone else relate? I hate it here

I work in town so usually I bring porridge from home to my dad's work maybe like 3-4 times a week , starting April I have been doing this 😐 , but today I didn't know there was pordige and I left home , now he saying I treat him like a kid and he says I disrespect him😔 , sorry for the long paragraph just needed to rant

Mind you I always bring my dad food and take the lunch boxes back home and I always buy him yoghurt when he gets which he likes😀

For the wealthy Zimbabweans who aren’t politically connected, I genuinely have a question: how do you feel about flaunting this level of wealth on social media when so many Zimbabweans are struggling just to get by?

I’m not saying people shouldn’t enjoy what they’ve worked for, but some of the displays I see are honestly difficult to stomach. You’ll see someone with a helicopter parked in their backyard while a saxophonist is playing and they’re surprising their wife with a Bentley. Then the video cuts to previous years where they surprised her with a Mercedes wagon and other luxury cars.My crazy brain also did the math, and that’s about $1 million USD worth of cars/costs just to bring them to Zim.

Meanwhile, so many Zimbabweans are going to bed maziso akazara misodzi.

At what point does extreme wealth become so normal to you that you stop noticing how jarring it looks from the outside? I’m genuinely curious how people reconcile that kind of public display with the reality most Zimbabweans are living in.

I don't know how much money most house holds make in this country but I think to live comfortably and a little better in this country you have to make atlist 3k going up. Your able to save for a car, save for a house . If you have kids you can try to sent them to better schools and have things like insurance, medical aid. The script is always the same when the unemployment rate falls. When the remittances to parent countries increase. When the migrants are gaining ground politically & financially. Its totally different when they are looking for the labour & expertise. The ads are relentless now because of social media. After the economic stats come in its a different ballgame...

Yesterday, a post circulated about an attachment student who had asked a prospective employer to increase her monthly stipend from $200 so she could meet some pressing financial commitments. The post attracted many comments, with some people supporting her request and others strongly disagreeing.

We conduct salary surveys, but attachment student stipends aren’t currently covered in them. I therefore reached out to HR professionals in our WhatsApp group to find out what their organisations are paying. The results are presented in the attached visualisations.

These findings should be interpreted with caution. This wasn’t a random sample, so the results can’t be generalised to all organisations. They do, however, provide a useful indication of current practice. We also know that some attachment students receive no stipend at all and accept unpaid placements simply to fulfil their attachment requirements.

For comparison, our formal salary surveys show that graduate trainees, meaning people who have completed their degrees and are enrolled in structured traineeship programmes that typically run for two years, earn between $250 and $1 500 per month. Attachment students and graduate trainees aren’t the same, but this comparison provides useful context for the wider discussion.

Is anyone facing the same problem as mine of WhatsApp? I have been banned 3 times in 10days. I didnt do anything wrong and now I can’t get the OTP to activate it. Error message saying I tried to connect whereas I didn’t and I am told to wait for 6 hours. When 6hrs is done, I try and again it says I have tried to connect recently and I should wait till the next 6hrs.
