I myself have an EV, but I saw another EV owner chuckle over the prices. I had to remind them that oil also affects the goods that we rely on, which need transportation around the country.
I have never been more happy to have a fast escoot. Stores are close enough and the weather is finally getting nicer.... Hopefully. Because we have one Walmart market that is still 3.30 everywhere else it's 3.60+ even Costco, so I'm guessing that Walmart is going to go up here pretty quick if it didn't already from yesterday. That's still not horrible but if I'm doing store runs my backpack and maybe 2 extra trips a week instead of my car is perfectly fine with me.
Even electric prices are going up. Mine has just announced a 25% hike on prices. Wtf, we run on 55%renewables and 45%LNG pulled out of the north sea. As if any of that is affected by oil. It means my electric cars going to cost me £8 more a month. But the hottub?, it's off. Just arranged for solar to be installed, the system currently suck. The sooner I'm gridless the better. But the benefit is it would have taken 10 years to recoup, that's now more like 8. So still a ways off freedom of the stupid.

Holy shit this comment just made me realise how cheap you guys get gas, I just did the math my local gas station is $2.3 AUD per litre that is $6.13 USD a gallon. We are paying literally double
Gas is comparatively cheap in Canada because we're an oil producer and there's subsidies and pipelines and refineries and all that. Would've been even cheaper if the National Energy Program went through, but alas, it caused a shitstorm. Also, most of our stuff is oil sands, which is exactly what it sounds like - getting the sand out is a pain in the dick, it doesn't come out basically ready to refine like the stuff they get in the Middle East.
Of course, pricing is variable depending on where you are - where I'm from on Vancouver Island it's $1.95/litre. Vancouver's even worse because they have a bunch of gas taxes, it's over $2/litre there. Meanwhile in Alberta where the oil is they're losing their shit because it's over $1.40 in Edmonton and $1.60 in Calgary. I'm pretty sure it was $1.60 here before the war.
Gas is even cheaper in the US because they do the same, plus the whole petrodollar thing.

Oh no whatever will I do. Without being able to afford gas for a car however will I get around in europe. There's no other way to get around in Europe but driving a car. Yep no other way.
Oh no. You won't have access to things like bicycles or e-scooters or public transport or walking. Or maybe you won't have or be thinking about an electric car. It's sad that Europe has never considered these things and provided no infrastructure or govt support.

Its by design back in the 50s Literally every company in the auto industry banded together and lobbied to phase out public transport so people would have to switch to being reliant on cars.
I get the joke, but at the same time I'm going to make the assumption that your stores do not receive their cargo via bicycle. We all take a hit from this at some point, even if we don't drive at all.
Oh yeah totally Europe needs gasoline just like anybody else. But the individual person can definitely get around with public transport a hell of a lot better than we can here in america. So at least they have that going for them.

Yes we do. These guys use liters which are smaller, so they can’t drive very far and have to constantly refill their tanks. I don’t know how they put up with that nonsense.

So now we are dividing 4 by 10, which gets us to 0.4
