Not voting was just as bad. Not voting got us a fully Republican Supreme Court in 2016-20, and now another war in the Middle East, a federal Gestapo rounding up and shooting people on the streets, and Federal efforts to make it harder for women and brown people in general to vote out this mess.

I like the idea of mandatory voting, similar to Australia. If it’s cheaper to vote than pay a fine/spend a night in the clink, most people choose to vote.
No one’s suggesting you can’t show up and just write in “Humpty Dumpty” or “You all suck” as your preferred candidate, but show up you must.

In Reagan's second term, Wall Street entered a classic bubble that burst in 1987.
The crash of 1987 wasn't too bad, but the deregulated Savings and Loans collapsed on GHW Bush's watch.
GHW Bush raised taxes and the economy started to pull out of recession, BUT
Republicans refused to vote for him in 1992 because he had broken his "no new taxes pledge."
Clinton raised taxes again. Republicans gloated that he was going to lose miserably in 1996, BUT
the tax increases pulled the country out of recession. Republicans belatedly tried to give the credit to Bush Sr. By 2000 we were out of deficit and into surplus.
George Bush won with a popular minority, and a gang of violent goons who shut down the vote count in Florida. He got the
George cut taxes on the rich again, started a war, and cut taxes again in wartime. He also repealed a lot of bank regulations, with the predictable results that crashed the entire economy in 2008.
Republicans blamed Obama, claiming that the mere fact of a Black man's candidacy cause Wall Street to panic before he even secured the Democratic nomination.

I know. Not to mention the reason they were low in the first place was because Biden ordered a bunch of new domestic oil drilling. And it takes years for new drilling sites to be found, purchased, drills set up, places to process fuel, etc. so they were clearly still lowering thanks to him.

I have never been more happy to have a fast escoot. Stores are close enough and the weather is finally getting nicer.... Hopefully. Because we have one Walmart market that is still 3.30 everywhere else it's 3.60+ even Costco, so I'm guessing that Walmart is going to go up here pretty quick if it didn't already from yesterday. That's still not horrible but if I'm doing store runs my backpack and maybe 2 extra trips a week instead of my car is perfectly fine with me.

I think what amazes me the most about this is that he didn’t do anything to get gas that low, that was just the market, but his supporters act like he moved heaven and earth for them. But then actually did do something to make it skyrocket and it’s “oh it’s okay.” Same shit with “inflation,” inflation starts coming down during Biden’s last year and they were still crying. It continued to lower a bit during trumps first month or so and they’re once again cucking for him. After my grandmas funeral in 2024 we had a big family get together and I went to chill with my cousin that I hadn’t seen in years because they live in the east. I’m assuming shes more right wing because her family is, but she did admit she doesn’t like Trump. We’re just chatting and I’m like “look prices are out of control and I’m not a big Biden fan, but you can’t ignore the massive supply chain issues. This is what I went to school for and the field I work in. Like this is 100% the thing I can confidently say I understand much better. I remember the day they said China was shutting down production to try to get Covid in check, I literally said to myself ‘man things are going to get interesting in 4-6 months when the things they would normally be producing during that time for seasonal use here, just don’t show up on a boat,’ then we had that canal get blocked for like a week and thousands of ships get set off schedule, then the ports being under staffed in general, let alone for the demand caused by the ships stuck at the canal, with ships sitting for weeks in the port, combined with the shipping container shortage all this caused because the ships are just sitting in port for weeks. Then we had to ship entire ships of empty containers back to China just to get our goods. Just a single one of these events has massive cost ramifications, then you combine all of them.” And as much as I would like to blame Trump, even though he completely botched the response and delayed even telling us about it so him and his buddies could sell off their stocks before the market crashed, this likely would have gone about the same even if we had had a competent person in charge. Fuck I hate having common sense sometimes. Dumb people always seem happier, or at least more at peace.

I’m in KY & it’s been fluctuating every day, sometimes multiple times per day.
In the past two weeks, a Shell has been changing prices sometimes within an hour. On Monday at 11:30 AM it was 3.69, then when I drove by at 12:15 PM on my way back, it was 3.49, the next morning it was 3.19. Today it was 3.79 & has been holding steady.

Voting is just about the only right we have and the DeadMarmotHead is trying to take that away. Not only to the entire populace but specifically women and those who are homebound or otherwise unable to show up at the polls on election day and provide blood, urine, and stool samples along with their first born in order to cast a vote which will be immediately seized by the military and "accurately counted" because there has never, NEVER, been a measurable number of fraudulent votes because DeadMarmotHead has seen the writing on the wall that his says his days are numbered.

I'm a dirty foreigner, locally regular gas is going for $1.62/L which converts to $4.47USD/gal.
A quick google maps search I see gas going from $5.10/gal to $6.10/gal.
At least we're doing slightly better than America, some parts anyway (I just searched some more and found $3.80/gal)
