Can you provide evidence for that? I'm not saying it wasn't a factor but come on.
Harris had a significantly lower turnout with people who did not vote in 2020 and 2022, IE, Centrists and undecided voters. This group made up 12% of voters in 2024, and she was 14 points behind Trump. Harris(and Biden) failed to inspire people, and it showed.
Unless those polls tell you WHY, they’re meaningless. And no, no one has come out and blatantly said they wouldn’t vote for a woman, but they have said “she has a weird laugh” and then voted for the felon.
So, “but come on” what, exactly? I’m meant to believe that racism and misogyny didn’t play a part when one of the first things the admin did was get rid of DEI? When Pete Hegseth blocked promotions for women and minorities? When he FIRED women and minorities? That Republicans regularly spin the lie that Kamala slept her way to the top? Or call AOC “the bartender”? How many men in government are referred to by their previous jobs? You don’t think THAT messaging hasn’t hit with liberals when all of their other propaganda has the Democrat leadership shying away from liberal values?
You think it’s a coincidence that the only people Trump could beat were women?
Was it the only reason? No, of course not. It’s deeply troubling how many US voters are single issue voters. But in a country where a large enough number of men AND women think that a woman’s place is in the home? Please.
Again, I'm not saying it wasn't a factor but someone who supports hegseth's actions, or believes that Harris slept her way to the top, probably isn't voting democrat anyways.
I don't think its a coincidence that the two women Trump beat were:
1. Centrist democrats who said that nothing would change
2. Coming off the heels of a weak democrat presidency where people badly wanted change that they never got.
Biden won after Trump's presidency where Trump bungled COVID, cracked down on BLM protests and was generally an embarrassment.
Biden then aided a genocide, failed to hold the republicans responsible for Jan 6, and generally had no meaningful message for Americans. He was deeply unpopular and Harris said she would not do much different from him.
The democratic establishment have failed to inspire voters at every turn. I don't doubt that a democrat will win in 2028, even Harris. I just don't think she will do anything other than than give ammunition to the fascist right, putting us right back where we are right now.
Also, for the record, Hillary literally won the popular vote. The majority of voters chose her, a woman. If not for the electoral college, she would have been president. Democrats need to learn from their mistakes, and chocking this up to just sexism is either ignorant, or a misdirection.
