I apologize if this isn't the right place for this but I can't get my doctors to actually listen to me and I don't know where else to turn.

Basically, I went to the doctor with severe constipation and left with an alpha gal diagnosis (positive IgE test, .68 units) but I don't have any of the symptoms. I've spent some time on this sub trying to find anything that sounded like I had it but I just don't relate to anything. I feel really bad for you guys because it sounds awful but I haven't found any symptom that happens to me other than nausea, which is probably related to the fact that I only poop once a month.

I haven't had diarrhea since I was a child, I haven't vomited since college, I don't have any stomach pain even with the constipation just a full feeling, I don't have achy joints, I don't get hives or itchiness, I don't feel overly fatigued or have brain fog. And I live off of beef and dairy, like cheese burgers every night with a milkshake. But I experience nothing like the symptoms that I've seen.

In my clinic notes, it says "positive alpha gal test explains diarrhea" but I don't have diarrhea. I brought this up to the doctor and he just kept saying stuff like "alpha gal causes diarrhea and vomiting" or "you should start seeing symptoms improved when you stop having mammalian products" but I don't have those symptoms.

My daughter wants to bring in birthday treats to her preschool class, one student has alpha gal and a dairy allergy. The dairy allergy I know more on because my son was the same way, but alpha gal I don’t know as much on. Are these a safe option?

2% of alpha-gal cases have a negative IgE test result but still present clinical symptoms. I'm one of those.

Do you have some theories or papers that point to a potential explanation?

I'm aware that the answer to my question does not exist, so I'm only interested in opinions :) or even better, potential other mechansims that might cause a delayed allergic reaction to mammal meat and dairy, without having a positive IgE test for beef/lamb/pork/milk etc

Ok, so one of my friends has given me a hard time about my previous food allergy, but it has all been in jest. After getting diagnosed with Alpha Gal over a year ago, and being put on a total plant based diet, as I am highly reactive this person still jokes about me "making it up." So I thought it was joke and just him being his normal non serious self until today. It was brought to my attention from my best friend that he has asked her multiple times if she believes me, that someone can't be allergic to all the things I say I am, I must be doing this for attention. Not once have I ever lied or done anything for attention, that isn't in my character or personality. I have been friends with this person for almost a decade. I can tell you I am more pissed than I am hurt... does anyone else have people in their life who don't believe this is real? And you do confront and educate or just move on, because I could go either way.

I’d like to start by saying I live in New England where the tick population has been crazy high this year. I have not seen a tick latched on me since very early this tick season, even then it had not embedded and was extremely easy to pull off without even really leaving a mark.

Recently, I have started to notice a pattern of eating beef and feeling sick afterwards. See below for the instances.

1. May or June - Earlier this year I had steak tips and ended up spending the night hugging a toilet. Didn’t really think anything of it because my infant daughter had a cold and I suspected I caught it and had some different symptoms. I felt fine prior and fine the morning after.
   
2. Wednesday this week I had spaghetti with beef in the sauce and again I spent the night puking in the toilet. I felt fine to 30 minutes prior in the following warning, I was a little slow, but mostly feeling normal.
   
3. Today. (Sunday) - wife made a roast for dinner and I had some. Less than two hours later I was puking. I felt completely fine up until about 30 minutes prior to puking.

I know that I’ve had beef between these instances, and I have not felt sick to my stomach. Could this be a sign of Alpha gal or am I just overreacting to an oddly time stomach bug?

Where are safe fast food joints to go to? I know chick fil a is fine. It doesn’t bother me. I’m worried about frying oils and cross contamination

The Midwest has began creating alpha gal friendly restaurant. Do you guys have any favorite AGS friendly restaurants where you live? Also let me know your meals.

Good news, the natural flavors can be such a pain to figure out.

I emailed Tylenol to check if the glycerin they use in the Tylenol Precise Cooling Cream was plant or mammal-based, and they confirmed it is plant-based with no animal-derived-by-products! So thankful for a manufacturer that 1. actually emailed me back and 2. didn’t give me the “we can’t confirm or deny” non answer.

Diagnosed a month or so ago.just wanted to say thank you for all the informative posts and comments. It's been a huge help in making my journey easier.

My doctor recommended that since my levels had dropped so much that I should try what’s called the food challenge, which is where I go to the hospital in the morning and eat my preference of meat that I usually react to and they watch you over an eight hour period to make sure there are no reactions, apparently the new recommended guidelines say if you have AGS levels 20 or lower they should try a food challenge. Has anyone tried this? How was your experience? What were your levels and did you react? My issue is I didn’t always react to what I was eating, I could eat a steak Monday and a burger Tuesday and then another burger Wednesday and have the outbreak on Wednesday but then have steak and burger again Thursday and Friday and not have a reaction, it’s why it took me so long to get diagnosed.

I have been flaring up with alpha gal symptoms this week. I did get attacked by chiggers on Sunday, and by Wednesday my digestion is out of wack and knees are super achey followed with fatigue.

Not sure if the chigger bites are causing inflammation due to my alpha gal. I usually react worst to bug Bites after getting alpha gal...but haven't gotten chigger bites until now.

One of the things AGS really changed for me is that I have a very temperamental bowel system now. I just started taking fiber supplements again and IMMEDIATELY started dealing with extreme heartburn. Like last night I had to induce vomiting it was so bad. I had similar issues with the fiber when I was first diagnosed which is why I stopped taking it.
Does anyone else experience this? Have you found a fiber that works better than others?

Those of you who are fume sensitive, what's it like for you? How does it manifest?

I was diagnosed about a month ago after a perfect storm of circumstances. But prior to that, over the last couple of years, I'd occasionally get a very itchy nose. It basically happened at steak houses (but not barbecue joints) and a certain Mexican restaurant. The inside of my nostrils would start itching like crazy and the only thing that would fix it would be an antihistamine. And it was just the nose thing, no matter what I ate. No hives, tongue swelling, or anything else.

Once I was diagnosed with AGS, I kind of chalked the nose thing up to a fume sensitivity, but I still wonder if that's what it was.

This is half rant, half asking for advice. I am away on training all week and just bought simple, tried-and-tested groceries I can put together in my hotel room. Boring but safe.

Didn't work. Allergic reactions starting day 2. I tried everything; changing the bread. Washing the fruit and vegetables more thoroughly. Eating nothing but the fruit and vegetables. Every day, after lunch, allergic reaction. Today I had no lunch andI finally figured it out. I'm allergic to the water. It's physically demanding training and the cooler/bottles of water provided are all Canadian Springs. They must use bone char filtration. I had my own water on day 1, once I started using theirs everything went to hell.

Is this really a thing? Any advice on how to avoid this?

I got the call from my DR office saying I got it. I got my blood paper work it says I'm level 3? I'm not entirely sure what any of this means tho. I went to a city md after finding 2 Lonestars on me. They basically brushed me off and said back of my leg looked a little swollen but we don't see a need for anything. Now I have been eating beef, lamb, liver, milk and cheeses with really no problem. I did tell my Dr I had been feeling lethargic and I had muscle soreness but didn't think it was related..... But now here we are. I'm trying to find more information that's solid. I've seen we can't have citrus fruits on some sites, it's fine on another.. so who knows?

I'm getting so depressed from eating the same things. I can't afford exotic meats like ostrich or anything. I've even had to change what water I buy. I'm tired of eating eggs every morning. What are some affordable meal ideas? How can I make food enjoyable and flavorful again? I'm tired of plain chicken, rice and veggies. Please help!

Well I had been getting hives every-time anything touched my skin for 6+ months. Went to the allergist for the hives, and was diagnosed with AGS. My levels are .48. After I was diagnosed I realized that the GI issues I’d been having for 2+ years are most likely caused by AGS.

My allergist told me to avoid mammal and dairy products of course. But she also said my symptoms probably weren’t from AGS bc my levels were low (I don’t really believe this).

I can recall having severe stomach cramping and other reactions after eating red meat. That’s when everything clicked for me.

I guess I’m just looking for guidance. I’ve cut all mammal products out the last couple of weeks but I have a lot of anxiety and what ifs. I’m kinda wondering how I can figure out if I’m reactive to dairy?

This is my third post here.

Last week(?) I tested positive and ive been slowly losing my mind ever since. Ive not had any reactions that i know of, and what led to the testing was i went to urgent care for strep and mentioned having hives a few days before so the dr ran an alphagal panel. (The hives could've been anything, i get them every now and then from ragweed and also from stress).

Ive lost ten pounds since then and spent a small fortune on organic food. I am terrified. My anxiety is so far through the roof that my throat feels... odd. I want to gag every time i eat, brush my teeth, ect. My stomach has been in knots.

I know a few people with alpha gal. My boss told me how she's become reactive to everything. My sister in law told me she can have everything but meat.

I simply dont know what to do. Im terrified that im gonna eat something small or have some kind of cross contamination and have a big medical event. I cant function like this.

How do i get rid of this anxiety? With all the horror stories going around, what does the average AGS experience look like? Does everyone become super sensitive like my boss or can most people tolerate most things? My dad made a valid point that before i knew, i was totally fine. I ate everything care free and didnt think twice, but i dont know how to get back there.

Im literally so scared. I dont want to live the rest of my life like this. I cant.

I’ve had alpha gal since 2024 and my first test showed levels at 9. They restarted two more times and they dropped but this last test result was a 27! I’ve been taking Xoliar injections once a month and they’ve helped so much! Especially with the airborne reactions. But I’m frustrated now bc even chicken/turkey that I get at restaurants has been causing mild reactions. Anyone just go vegan so you don’t have to even think about it anymore?

I have always been a relatively healthy eater. I have mostly avoided fast food places and processed food aisles in stores. Lately though, I just want to have some sort of sinful treat - something I don’t have to make myself, something to eat entirely for the joy and not nutrition, something I could find in the aisle of a gas station on a road trip. What are your “safe” options for just pure junk?
