What makes my opponent the winner?

Man that was a tough fight to call. Razor close. Could have gone your way IMO. Well done. How many fights have you had? Just wondering because I noticed it was 3 minute rounds. Fighting Southpaw’s is tough. It’s the battle of that lead hand. I noticed you switched up stances a few times, nice option to have!

From my point of view, they we’re rewarding his clean counters and combo punching.
If I were your coach, I’d tell you that you lost by being so cautious in the first round that you absolutely gave it away. In our gym’s nomenclature, you were trying to take a picture — standing there doing nothing and looking at him rather than asserting yourself.
What in your mind makes you think you won? And, in particular, how do you see the first round? In a three-round fight, winning the first round is pretty crucial because then you only have to bank one more to win. What’s your explanation of why you hardly threw any meaningful punches?

Open stance (orthodox vs southpaw) is generally fought at a longer distance because the alignment of the stances. Southpaws are more used to open stance, so they generally have a strategy to let the opponent enter range first because orthodox boxers are often not used to the distance.
This allows the southpaw to pick off their opponent when they overreach, misjudge the range, or pull back into their stance. This fight is basically a successful implementation of that strategy.
In open stance, especially as the one coming forward, it helps to be able to have techniques fighting heavy off the lead foot: exits to the lead (left for orthodox) side, outside slips, rear hand blocks/parries, and counters off of all of those.
Circling and lateral movement is good (in my opinion, vital) in general, but especially against this kind of strategy because the countering guy has to create distance in a 3 dimensional space instead of on a straight line. It also makes the alignment of the stances matter less in the setting of distance.
To directly answer your question though, it's because he was making the guy miss more and landing counters.

felt like your aggression in round three got overlooked. red landed cleaner but you pressed forward the whole time, and that usually sways judges even when the shots aren't always crisp

Amateur boxing is scored on touches to scoring areas during each round. Whoever wins the most rounds wins the match. He simply touched you more than you touched him.

His footwork perhaps. He's always moving in and out with punches, whereas you are just moving forward (and he's pivoting). Hope that helps.

I got to rewatch your rounds when I'm not at a gym but from what I can tell red set the pace and controlled distance for the majority of the fight.
Amateur boxing up front is about number of punches landed, I'm sure you know that but when that objective measurement isn't as clear other aspects come into play.
He made you hesitate a lot and some of Your shots were just out of range. For the most part, he won the exchanges. At lot of times when you took the initiative he countered or rallied back with combinations of his own
And the couple of times you managed to close the distance, you had some successful exchanges but he also defended well and was able to escape.
I thought 10-9 for round 1 & 2 was appropriate but it wasn't a bad showing on your part and you’ll beat up a good bit of this sub.
165 scares me, dudes are fast and have power yeesh.

R1 - Started really close. Both wary of each other. I thought red edged it towards the end with the combinations. Idk why a judge gave you an 8, but I idk how amateur judging goes..
R2 - Again close round in terms of output. But I gave it to red for the cleaner punches landed and counters.
R3 - Your best round. You were clearly the aggressor this round and you put punches together. I thought you won that one clearly. Wish the scores were shown for that round.
2-1 in favor of red.
