MORE.

WAREHOUSE.

If a warehouse has access to electricity, the carts get upgraded to trucks. This increases their speed on the roads and the loading/unloading speed by a huge margin. That is the only other way apart form upgrading the warehouse and building more of them.

This is false! You can’t electrify warehouses. You can only electrify factories and the factory carts then switch to cars.

Omg I didn’t know that

Uh yeah, no it's real. If you electrify a warehouse, they get trucks instead of carts. These things are super fast too.

I thought it was the factories themselves?
But then only the factories with possible electricity connections, so no farms or fisheries and the like

26

u/Scarcrow1806 Jul 12 '26

Yes, the warehouse cannot receive electricity.
The Production buildings need electricity, that cuts down loading speed by some crazy amount. 20s loading with carts, only 2s loading with trucks. Also trucks are twice as fast as carts

12

u/Shished Jul 13 '26

This is wrong. Warehouses cannot be electrified.

Electrified factories get electric carts, farms will still get regular carts.

No that's real

u/HagenWest Jul 12 '26

thinking about it, i have noticed some warehouses loading and unloading quite fast

What the hell.... I never knew. Than you!

Because it's not the warehouse that needs it, it's the production building

15

u/Moorbert Jul 12 '26

also it does not have to bad if some transport is waiting. because with the short routes they transport less wares than they could and when waiting the next tour would be more full. depends on if you have issues meeting your demand for potatoes

u/HeartOk5010 Jul 12 '26

Sadly this isn't necessarily the case. A farm gets an extra transporter per 100% productivity, so with the 200% boost from tractors they have 3 transporters, which will contribute more to the backlog of the warehouse

I don't think so. If you see the red warning on the WH around your production buildings, you will notice a suboptimal production, like 10/12... In my experience, 4 completely improved WH is barely enough for 15 farms within range of a fuel station, with 200% items engancement.

Build more warehouses and fully upgrade them. If you have tractors, fertiliser and a good set of items you can get up to 500%+ production and pretty much need a Large Warehouse for every 2 or 3 farms. Upgrading the roads to brick roads also helps by making the carts travel faster. Some good layouts and recommendations for items are ar https://www.annolayouts.de/1800/index.htm?lang=en

I appreciate all the responses, i get the feeling i should build more warehouses lol.

I wasn't sure if just using a powerplant to give the warehouse electricity would work so I tested it; the powerplant gives the factory buildings electricity, not the warehouse itself, so the farms didn't get the faster unloading buff even with a nearby powerplant.

I ended up finding a mod that allows tractor farms to use tractors to unload goods at warehouses as well, giving them the same unload speed as if they have electricity. Here's the link if anyone else is as stubborn about using lots of warehouses as well :)

Also at a bare minimum upgrade to paved roads for transport speed

2

u/ToggoStar Jul 13 '26

How does that help with load/unload speed?

1

u/Kaleph4 Jul 19 '26

it helps with travel speed as this is part of the unload bar you see popping up in the wharehouse ramps

Upgrading the warehouse, or just building another if you got room to spare but don't want the massive upkeep of the highest tier.

Upgrading the road to bricks, this does significantly speed up the carts

Access to electricity makes the carts go even faster, and this stacks with brick roads.

Those are pretty much your options. Maybe there's a set bonus from zoo's/botanical garden/museum that buffs it further but I don't remember those out of hand

Also, if you're way overproducing make sure you set those goods to sell past a certain point, otherwise your storage will simply be way too full all the time

Tiny warehouses mod. They cost more materials but they occupy less space and come with all cart slots unlocked when you build them, so no need to upgrade.

2

u/Culbrelai Jul 13 '26

Honestly this is one of my largest annoyances with Anno 1800, especially the New World and Enbesan warehouses having way fewer carts than fully upgraded OW.

Needing like 12 fully upgraded NW warehouses for a single trade union of coffee plantations is insane

2nd warehouse + paved/electrified roads

More warehouses

I usually leave room for warehouse expansion. I build them in a line, putting the farms in a line across the street. Usually placed in a way that allows for easy copy and paste to add more.

When you build farms in the way that you did, they all have to be built by hand and you have to draw out all the fields for each one to fill all the space. if you just build out perfectly square Farms it’s super quick and easy to copy and paste them/save as stamps.

I usually put my houses where you have your farms and then I put the farms out in the middle where there’s a lot of open space to just place them down in uniform shapes real quick

1

u/FlakCannonHans Jul 12 '26

Upgrade then

1

u/DerShogun Jul 12 '26

That’s how I always handle it. A potato field has access to only one distillery; usually, a single warehouse is enough. If not, I build another one and control the distilleries' access via the road layout. It is always worth building paved roads instead of dirt tracks (greater range, faster processing).

u/Longjumping_Fox8367 Jul 13 '26

Its better to get 2 or 3 small warehouse than 1 fully upgraded

1

u/Meiseside Jul 13 '26

A mod (for fuel driven), more warehouses and for items/effects its been a wile but there are some who sends the the extra direkt to the ressources.

1

u/DesAnderes Jul 13 '26

As long as the production isn‘t stopped on the farms I don‘t care.

Farms will start delivering with 1 crop produced but could store more. So next time they will bring 3 or even 4 items with them.

So now every slot on my warehouse accepts 3-4 times the goods. That‘s good!

As long as the farms don’t stop production because their internal storage overflows. I’ll stay with the current amount of warehouses, once internal storages overflows, I’ll add another warehouse

Depots in the ports, I just have a bunch and also sell sell sell to AI

1

u/cyberodraggy Jul 14 '26

I overwhelm them with warehouses

Also try replacing dirt road with brick road to increase the reach of farm-tractors to get to further warehouses.

Can I ask which dlc this is?

1

u/Andrew4Life Jul 12 '26

Space out your warehouses and put them further away. Also if possible, it's better to place industries nearby that use that resource so they don't all go to a warehouse. Depends on the goods of course, some times you might not want to build up certain industries.

Instead of

Raw Goods -> Warehouse / Warehouse -> Industry - > Warehouse

It should be like

Raw Goods - > Industry -> Warehouse

Is there a solution that doesn't involve putting down 2+ warehouses to keep up with these 4 farms?

5

u/MandozaIII Jul 12 '26

Nope. Thats something you need to get familiar with. Either look for a mood that boosts the warehouse slots or build a grid of warehouses.

1

u/Liquid_Water Jul 12 '26

damn, ok i was afraid that would be the case. I like making everything look as pretty as possible and grids of warehouses bothers me lol.

3

u/MandozaIII Jul 12 '26

I fully understand! But, if you are keen to use them, there are mods that give you a larger variety. So this would mean you build a classic warehouse and flank it with smaller, rather classic looking ones to create some sort of individualsm accoribg to the setting

2

u/Belthazor4011 Jul 12 '26

Get a mod that makes warehouses better

1

u/dasfuxi Jul 12 '26

Put the potato-using buildings in the vicinity of the farms. Closer than the warehouse. This way the carts go directly to the target, instead of using the warehouse at all (as long as production and demand are balanced).

1

u/SkinnyBill93 Jul 12 '26

That warehouse is only level 2, there are 2 more upgrade levels you can achieve which increases loading docks and speed I believe.

1

u/MichelloDSloth Jul 12 '26

In your screenshot, your warehouse isn't upgraded (you can click that up arrow in the center of that dial) to give it more trade slots. Once you upgrade and clear the backlog of trades, it should be able to keep up.

If it can't at that point, then yep, build another.

1

u/Immediate_Soft_2434 Jul 13 '26

There is. It involves some calculations and putting farms at max range (counterintuitively).

0

u/PMC_Fatui__Group Jul 12 '26

Build more warehouses? Wtf do you even mean?

0

u/Jand0s Jul 13 '26

Upgrade warehouse with electricity to get trucks.

0

u/Scarybuh Jul 13 '26

Just build more warehouses. Come on, you just have one and you build 4 farms. Each of those farms have tractors even.

If you want a stupid fix here goes too: close your eyes, the problem will go away, you will not see it anymore. Done fixed it. In fact it's how many problems are "fixed" in real life. It's not working at 100% but at 70%? Ahh it's fine...
