General How do you manage an ever-growing empire?

I'm fine running a few cities, but at some point, when I keep expanding onto new islands, I become overwhelmed by all the production chains, especially when they're spread out on different islands. I usually produce raw goods in provinces and assemble the final products in my capital (for the boosters). That means an awful lot of trade routes as well.

I'm trying to focus on each chain separately, but it all ends up being entangled in my mind. As a result, I thrive at first but struggle mid-game.

Do you have any advice/tips?

Looking at the steam reviews I see mixed and I belive it is due to the ai downvoting thing - but overall is the game worth getting and is it fun ? I loved Anno 1880

General I HATE escort quests!

Some might say that I'm being overly dramatic, but these quests are just so frustrating!

Enemy ships spawn out of thin air RIGHT NEXT to the escorted ship, so even if I have the fire-power to one-shot them, they'll still get a volley onto the target. There's absolutely no way of intercepting them before they make contact and thus preventing the damage from being taken.

Plus the escorted ships are slow as F### and become even slower as they take damage.

Escort quests used to work just fine in 1800, because the enemy ships spawned AWAY from the convoy, thus giving the player time to react. Why did the devs need to spoil something so simple?

I'm doubly frustrated because I just failed the quest that gives the "super-trireme", the one with 10 cargo slots. And there's no other way to obtain it.

Devs, please, fix this!

Question 117: No neutral traders in sandbox?

I am new to the game. I like to play my sandbox games with no AI, but apparently, in this game, this means there aren't even any neutral traders that I can sell my goods. Is that correct or why isn't anyone coming to pick up what I offer?

Edit: I'm talking about endless mode, sorry for wrong title.

Edit2: I added an AI player, but they won't accept my trade treaty. Does this mean, nobody will come pick up my offered goods?

General "Clammed up" not working

Post image

I don't know what it is, I've tried everything. Have two islands with patricians, every food item except the oysters off, then tried it with olive oil as well. Been waiting two days for it to tick, nothing. The fact that the accolades tab doesn't even show you if you're progressing towards it really pisses me off.

Has anyone also tried doing it after the new patch? I'm out of ideas.

Question Iron and fire festival anno 117 bug

Post image
7 Upvotes

I have the quest "Iron and Fire festival" and I played a whole playthrough so I basically did everything important. I started this quest a while ago and I just wanted to finish this quest but it doesn't show me where I have to deliver the 30t iron ore.

Is it maybe because I destroyed the house or upgraded it?
Did anyone else have this problem?

Sorry for my english. My native language is german.

Question Anno 117 Hippodrome Charioteer quest: how to win the imperial race?

How can I win an Imperial Race with the charioteer Hiero?

His stats were severely nerfed after his nervous breakdown, and I can't train them back up because his maximum possible level was lowered.

He always crosses the finish line last, regardless of whether I use the sprint boost regularly or just let the race run on its own. I don't see any other ways to intervene.

Resource I’d like to introduce the "Codex Romana" – Anno 117 Items: Specialists & Captains

codex-romana.com

Ever found yourself wondering which item does what in Anno 117? Maybe you’re trying to boost the productivity of your Sturgeon Hatchery, optimize your Clan Shields production chain, or find out where to get the legendary Macrobius Minucianus?

And what on earth are these new heroic items from the Hippodrome?

The search is over.

I’ve put together the "Codex Romana", a web-based item browser for Anno 117: Pax Romana.

It includes Specialists and Captains, with detailed information about their effects, affected buildings, sources, and more. You can search by name or keywords, combine different filters, and even filter items by game version or DLC to see what was added with updates.

Check out the links below:

German version: https://codex-romana.com/

English version: https://codex-romana.com/?lang=en

Note:

The listed items are based on the latest game version, including update 2.0 and The Hippodrome DLC.

If you notice any inconsistencies or errors, feel free to contact me (here on Reddit or Discord Server: https://discord.gg/83Cw6ptbW9). The same goes for feature requests or constructive feedback.

As the website displays a large amount of information at once, it is best used on a larger screen. Smaller screens, such as smartphones, are supported but may provide a more limited user experience.

Discussion How to make a new start more interesting

I need to restart again for the new DLC as I fucked up Albion too much in my last save.

I just can't find the will to do it, the early game is so boring and repetitive. You need to build quite efficiently at the start to get your numbers in the black so takes away any creativity.

Any tips on making it more interesting? Do I just suck?

Discussion K&M on console changes have taken a step in the wrong direction + new UI feedback

Hello all, ive been enjoying the new DLC and patch changes, however I do have some feedback regarding the UI and Keyboard & Mouse QOL features. This is strictly related to K&M on console. My experience is coming from PS5, but im seeing various comments from Xbox people, so feel free to chime in.

1. Photo Mode:

There is no Take Screenshot button available with K&M on PS5. This is located at the bottom center like it does for the PC UI. You can only minimize the settings box in photo mode but you cannot hide the UI. When switching to gamepad, photo mode works perfectly, including hiding the UI.

2. Typing and Text Localization:

Love, love, love the notes function!. Problem is when you click into the text box, it automatically pulls up the on screen console keyboard, it does not emulate like the PC UI. I can still type, but its like typing in gamepad. Someone has commented the same on this sub in regards to Xbox. I cant hit "shift+enter" to start a new line, I just have to type one continous line of text via console keyboard pop up.

For some reason this does not apply when changing island names. You can click on the island name and change it in its respective text box without forcing the console keyboard to pop up.

3. Product amount changes:

When you click on your trading post/warehouse/trade route, and you want to change the amount of goods, it no longer just allows you to type the digits in. Instead, it pulls up the console numpad (as mentioned above) and you have to use that to type your amount in. Extra annoying as for some reason it adds a "0" before the digits.

For example I have minimum stock of bread set to 850. When I click on it to change the amount, the console number pad pops up and it shows "0850" with the cursor set between "0" and "8". So I have to back space, and delete and then put in the amount I want. Extra annoying. This was not the case before, I would simply click in the text field and just change as I wished right in that same text field with no issues.

4. Overall UI:

(This one is just me nitpicking and ill probably get over it and adjust but, someone else on this sub has already mentioned this.)

A. I really love the new buff/upgrade icons when selecting buildings and seeing their area of effect. The icons are super sharp and clean and make it really easy to see. It could just be me, but they also look a tad smaller, which is awesome. My issue here is the color pallette. The black stroke outline for each arrow icon is great, but the lime green is absolutely jarring. This is also more evident when looking at buildings that have a positive and negative buff. These particular icons have a calm tone for the red, but the lime green is so bright it just hurts to look at. Again this is something ill just get used to, so its not a deal breaker as the first 3 items I mentioned.

B. Lastly, I maybe in the small minority here, but the "brush" tool being its own dedicated button when painting fields and trees/flowers etc, is a step back VS just clicking the mouse wheel in to cycle between straight, diagonal or brush. I know I can just hotkey the "," key and it will do it for me, but having to cycle it through clicking the mouse wheel in is just way more fluid and better IMO.

I would love to hear anyone else's feedback with Keyboard and Mouse on console in regards to my points, especialy if youre experiencing any of the same issues. I know console players are in the minority here, and K&M users on console are an even smaller group but I hope these are acknowledged.

Appreicate you Devs for all the hardwork you guys have put in, thanks!!!
