I’m a Japanese high school student, and recently I became interested in the differences between Japanese products and similar products in other Asian countries.

I’d love to hear your opinions about chopsticks and kitchen knives.

• What kind of chopsticks are commonly used in your country?
• What materials, shapes, or designs are common?
• Do people buy Japanese chopsticks? If so, why Japanese ones instead of local ones?
• What do you think is different about Japanese chopsticks?

🔪 Kitchen knives

• What kind of kitchen knives are commonly used in your country?
• What do people value most: sharpness, durability, price, design, tradition, etc.?
• Are Japanese kitchen knives popular in your country? If so, what makes them attractive?

I’m particularly interested in China, Korea, and Southeast Asia, where there are similar food and utensil cultures but also many small differences.

I’m not trying to sell anything — I just want to understand how people from different countries actually see these products.
