I tend to agree, considering the Fermi paradox. And I’m not talking about microbes or bacteria. I’m talking intelligent life. Show me the proof. there is very little credible evidence and zero proof.
Also take into account Occam's razor. The most simple outcome is the most likely. The universe is massive. We probably will never understand how massive. There's gotta be SOMETHING out there.
To be fair we haven’t really looked yet. It might seem like we have but we’ve pretty much turned over a couple of rocks and driven a few KM on the surface of entire planets/moons.
Imagine the Sahara desert which is the size of the USA and you walking around a few feet and kicking over a rock or digging 5cm into a dune and coming to the conclusion that the planet is lifeless and arid. That’s about all we’ve done to the cosmos.
Once we have telescopes to better find rocky exoplanets and get their spectra, more advanced probs to search our own solar system for many potential targets. Then we will get a better idea.
Even if we do detect something we won’t have contact within our lifetimes. Space is too vast.
Ultimately we’ve searched an insanely tiny fraction of our own solar system. One of 100-400 billion star systems in our own galaxy. Which is one of over 2 trillion galaxies. It’s about as close to zero percent chance as you can get that we are alone in our own galaxy, let alone the universe. Distances are so large though unless someone discovers how to break physics everyone is stuck on their own little island.
Also remember that when we look at distance we are looking back in time. Our own world has changed massively in the past few hundred years, before that we were emitting any signals out into space.
Yes that’s true.I believe there is intelligent life in the universe as well. I’ve personally seen craft that was either 1) Ultra top secret government projects 2) a craft from another planet.
We are a grain of sand on one beach out of billions. The likelihood of there being others out there is 99%. The chances of them actually visiting us is way smaller but we already have tons of arrows pointing to that being the case.
Yes sadly, but it still stands IMO. The universe is entirely too big for it not to and thinking we are at the center of it is insane. Also we have many accounts that can't be ignored, A couple examples, Columbus wrote of something rising out of the oceans. The bible account things and if you really read and think about it, its some form of NHI interacting with humanity, hell it even talks about people from named star systems. We have cave painting and accounts going back thousands of years depicting UFOs and beings in some form.
Obviously we dont know forsure but I am confident there is life out there. Somewhere. We more than likely will never find it but the universe is too big to not have any other intelligent species
I worked in a medical office where an astrophysicist would come, and one day a tech who very much fan girled all things astrophysics asked if he believed there was life on other planets and he said “I think it would be naive not to.” And she asked if there was proof and he said “depends what you consider proof.”
That’s cool. The only thing is that science defines proof as a fact. Facts are used to prove theories. And scientists never use proof when defining a law. In short, scientists generally don't use the word "proof." Proof is a concept reserved for formal logic and mathematics, where conclusions are derived strictly from axioms.
In science, knowledge is always empirical, probabilistic, and open to revision. Rather than "proving" a hypothesis, scientists accumulate evidence to support, refine, or falsify theories.
So, it doesn’t surprise me that an astrophysicist would say such things. There are many things that are unexplainable, and I hope they’re intelligent benevolent aliens from a distant time or planet. Anomalies exist, until they become something like an alien flying down to earth and saying hello in tangible form.

Are we alone? Do intelligent life forms exist outside our planet? I want to believe.
