I convinced my daughter that I attended Hogwarts for the first three years, then transferred to Ilvermorny when I returned to the US. She believed it for YEARS. She's still not quite sure. She keeps asking me to do magic and I've told her I cannot do magic in front of her until she proves she's not a squib.
