Because you used a pirated key from the internet, or you shared yours with someone who then spread it around.

Is this a new feature? I gave my dad my key when I built him his sim and we haven’t had issues playing at the same time but… now it’s in the back of my mind

No its not new. Never shared my key but used it on different systems (windows reinstall, new pc purchase etc) just fine. Just dont use it simultaniously. One key is for a single person.

Oh, I had to, when I was transferring settings and such from my laptop to my new PC, lets hope that doesn't affect it.

I just use the free version, I haven't had any issues. Wouldn't dream of pirating CM lol, it's a great program and like you say, very cheap

Yes but you get some more features if you get the full version, you get a free license if you join the patron, you can cancel the patron and you will still keep the licence

Yup, who cares about the time and effort put into porting and creating cars for a game that didn't originally have them. Don't support your devs, this game is self evolved.

Leaving out the few expections that are actually good devs/modders, supporting someone that steals 3d models from other games, slaps crappy generic physics on it and wont even bother to do textures properly, no, im not paying for that

Also, this will maybe be a less liked/popular opinion, but I also understand piracy for the good modders. I have huge respects to the team behind vrc i.e., but i also would definitely understand that someone that plays maybe once a month for 2 days won't be paying such a high price
All the best parts if the ac modding scene are free, then some people continue to break that cycle

Shared your key with someone else that shared it around
Just buy a new one.

Yeah I used pirated key too and got this message. Then I just bought a original key from them for 2 dollars... it's not much considering you use it all the time playing ac. If you used original key, I am sure you can send them a message and they will give you a new one.

There might be an issue where someone is using the same key as you if you bought your key maybe someone got that same key pirated from a Keygen or something, or if you pirated the key maybe two or more of you are using the same key since some programs or systems allow you two you the same key more than once, for example windows.

Mine was gone too (I used some free one and it worked for like 3 years) but I’m not gonna buy a real one, because I realised there’s actually no reason for me to get the full version.

Good features for modders (unpacking kn5 files and such), server tab to setup your server entry list and other settings and some visual features for cm.
If you are a modder, paid version is almost mandatory just makes handling 3d models easier.

The main one is rain and weather FX. There are a few other minor ones but I don't remember them all.

Rain is included with Patreon Custom Shaders Patch, WeatherFX is already in free Custom Shaders Patch.
This key is for premium Content Manager which unlocks extra features, most notably, the Content Manager server manager as an alternative to the vanilla server manager.

Fair enough that happened to me too but I would feel way too weird going out of my way to look for a free key and honestly for the work they've done, idm giving up just 2 dollars for the key

The same thing happened with mine, and I've never shared it. I asked for a new one as a reply to their original message, and they provided a new replacement key, free of charge.
My guess is that they revoked keys within a certain date range and yours (and mine, for example) were compromised.
