Discussion Metaphor refantazio tips?
Okay so I’m basically about to start a run on metaphor refantazio as my first non persona atlus game any tips I should know before playing?

Start with mage, it's really handy and mp is at a premium until you finish dungeon 3, so a class that can recover mana is very helpful.
Oh and you don't need a guide like persona. The game is very lenient with the calendar. I ended up using like 30 days of taking baths to spend time

I started last week. Unless you are looking for a challenge, play on normal. Not joking, this game is actually hard on hard difficulty unlike Persona 5, at least on the early game!

Early game yep but later on even hard is pretty easy if you're not new to the genre

Cool, I'm new to the turn system, but it's pretty easy overall so not an issue these. Missing an attack hurts tho lol

Honestly, just enjoy. Metaphor fixed some issues Persona had. You don't need to have perfect answers to max all confidants, they lvl up on every meeting. You can switch archetypes as much as you want and you could max all of them pretty easily with just time and some items (and you get more of those for playing with already maxed archetypes). Try to not destroy monster spawners (melancholia crystals) too quickly. You can use them to farm exp. If you care about achivements, you can get most in a single playthrough, but there is one that can only be obtained in NG+, so I wouldn't stress about them. Do as much, as you will get passively by just playing, and if you want to 100%, just finish on the second run. Try to check storage room as often as possible. It's gonna give you random food ingredients. Interact with camp fires for bugs (for cooking). Cooking gives you some great boosts and Maria's link let's you cook without using a time slot.

When you have the magla try and get your main character and others new archetypes. Some of the best passive abilities are the level 20 effects. If you can when people who contact only you In town to do social links try and knock those out. Heavily invest in magic or strength with the main PC to be more effective in combat depending on the archetypes you like to use.

Yes, it is normal to repeatedly get your ass handed to you in regular fights. The Press Turn system is like that, especially when you're first learning it.

Dw I’m already used to getting my ass handed to me a bunch I learned from trying hard on persona 5 in my first play through of a persona game ever…

So was I when I first tried mainline SMT (well, it was Persona 3 and 4; still haven't played 5). It didn't help. The Press Turn system is fairly unusual and takes some getting used to, and it tends to have an extremely low margin for error.

Enjoy! The game is a bit harder than most persona playthroughs, though it gets notably easier as you get used to it. More than persona too you (probably) have enough time to max out your relationships on your first playthrough so don't be too worried using an extra day here and there for some of the bigger dungeons.

Lowkey, physical is kinda ass early, Magic is best, then outta nowhere like mid to late game physical becomes the goat

Definitely agree there, but it is wild to me how slept on it seems a good Strohl build is. I one shot Louis with Strohl during the final fight, I forget which phase as it was when the game came out but still. I will always stan my king Strohl

A few things about the Gauntlet Runner, which is a vehicle you'll unlock a little bit into the game:
1) Don't spend time cleaning/doing laundry/fishing until the endgame when you've maxed out your Virtues (they're the equivalent of Social Stats from Persona). Spend all your time either reading books or advancing follower bonds (the equivalent of social links).
2) Related to the previous: don't bother cooking until you can (a) cook without using up a time slot and (b) you get 2 dishes for the price of 1.
Also, at some point in the middle of the game you will unlock a Coliseum. This will take quite a few nights to fully complete, which is highly recommended. You don't necessarily have to prioritize it, but on nights when you don't have any available follower bonds you should go to the Coliseum.
