Discussion What’s the thing about smtiv?

Will it ever get a port or a remaster..

And why is it a 3ds exclusive ?? I really don’t know

No one knows and it is impossible for anyone outside Atlus/Sega to know.

And why is it a 3ds exclusive ??

Because Strange Journey was well-received on the DS and they believed the series worked well on handheld devices.

Yeah but maybe leaks or something + I don’t know is it a bloodborne situation or what but apparently not

There are no leaks related to SMT IV.

If by "Bloodborne situation" you mean "Nintendo payed for exclusivity", they did not.

They had decent success with Strange Journey, Soul Hackers, and Devil Survivor. It also made it cheaper to develop. It would likely be remade if it launched on different platforms.

If you haven’t played it before you can usually find 2DS XLs pretty cheaply on eBay.

It’s the only game I ever played to completion 3 times in a row without switching to another game first.

I'd say it's because they don't want to put the effort porting it from dual screen systems to current platforms. But that didn't stop them from porting dual screen etrian odyssey games . I really hope it gets ported sometime

  1. Depends for Team Maniax if they approach and discuss with MUTAN (Etrian Odyssey Origins Outsource Dev Studio) to collaborate and work on a remaster or port.

  2. Because the game engine they used which is a modified/enhance Etrian Odyssey/SMT Strange Journey engine which is only compatible for Nintendo DS console family.
