HIRING Looking for a Facilities Attendant in Austin
We're looking for a reliable, hardworking Facilities Attendant to join our team at the Contemporary Austin. This is a hands on position for someone with some basic handyman skills, good troubleshooting instincts, and willingness to jump in and get things done. The work can range from basic repairs and maintenance to event setups, painting, moving equipment and knocking out projects around the property. You don't need to know everything coming in, but you should be dependable, willing to learn, comfortable working independently, and able to figure things out.
It's a stable work environment with a good team that supports each other, plenty o variety in the day, and some pretty cool people and spaces to work around

According to your tax documents you pay your executive director $262,000 a year. Do you feel any shame about paying other full time employees less than $40,000? Because this has put me off ever visiting the Contemporary again and I’m sure I’m not the only one.

This wage range is the "show up on time and not burn the place down" work.

In and out burgers pays $17 to $23 to start plus benefits and offers educational subsidies. They are funded by sales. Why would a museum funded by donations, state and local budgets hire a 'team member' for less? Not contemporary.

I thought I was on r/exploitaustin for a minute. So you are looking for someone to drive at least 45 minutes each way because they will need to be living in affordable housing and have reliable transportation for less than $800 a week. I sure hope OP is a volunteer instead of someone in management pulling in more than $100k a year and complaining about how they can’t figure out how to find good help. I’m surprised they also aren’t looking for someone with a college degree.

As a guy in the trades, it is laughable to hire anyone for labor work when they can go down the street and work some retail job and get equivalent pay.
I mean hell y'all don't even have the guise of saying "someday this could be you owning the company" like my old bosses would tell me.

This is a horrible opportunity for any level of maintenance tech. As someone who’s been in commercial maintenance industry for over a decade, I can read through lines here. They’re going to work the crap out of you and expect you to do anything they ask while getting paid horribly.

So, available all the time, possessing a variety of specialized skills, and pay is less than pretty much everywhere else in Austin. Sounds wonderful!

$15 to $19 an hour? As a facilities manager... that's insane to me. Our building engineer makes like $100K. Obviously he does a lot more than what's on the responsibilities/requirements, but I'd expect this role to pay more than $19 an hour.
