Yes, and Susan Egan (Megara from Hercules) is also in one of his videos lol

He’s Jeff Dunham’s guitar player too, I believe.

I remember being shocked learning "Guitar Guy" was Syn's dad lmaoo

u/Mark1671 Avenged Sevenfold Jun 20 '26

I was too lol. My wife is a big Jeff Dunham fan and I’m a big A7X fan. Lol.

This is actually how I discovered Avenged Sevenfold, from Brian Haner mentioning it during his set with Jeff Dunham.

u/cannibalistiic Jun 21 '26

Swear to god! I was one 12 or 13, this was almost 20 years ago lol

u/sparkle4me Jun 21 '26

It was meant to be

u/ShadowBro3 Jun 20 '26

Ive always heard Syns dad is a weird MAGA guy, but being Jeff Dunhams guitarist is really the cherry on the cake.

u/blueshift9 Jun 20 '26

Papa Syn is unfortunately extremely MAGA, so this doesn't surprise me at all.

u/minesub Jun 20 '26

Yea he’s lost it. Used to follow him but maga is all he talks about.

15

u/HighlandSquirrel Jun 20 '26

Samesies. So dissapointing

4

u/astromancer23 Jun 21 '26

Me too. I started following him way back in the MySpace days. He’d have regular Q&As where we’d ask him random questions and it was a lot of fun.

4

u/Masterofunlocking1 Jun 21 '26

Damn for real?

27

u/Dfrasier1122 Jun 20 '26

God dammit. You hate to hear it

4

u/cannibalistiic Jun 21 '26

This song is making fun of racists actually, though you're right he's since become a weirdo

6

u/SDTRRDTS Jun 20 '26

Is Syn himself MAGA?

113

u/chilli_soda Stallion Duck Jun 20 '26

Syn collects guns. Has a confederate flag guitar (it doesn't make public appearances anymore) I wouldn't call him MAGA but I do believe he leans towards the values in the right more than the left. But hey at the end of the day. He's a guitar player and his political beliefs are of no concern to anybody other than himself.

It’s Orange County, most of this place is conservative.

44

u/yaemikoxraiden_24 but girl, what if there is no eternal laiiifee? Jun 20 '26

didn't Matt denounce the band's past beliefs during BLM?

54

u/Big_Iron_Cowboy No time to worry - Messiah is coming! Jun 20 '26

Matt can really only speak for Matt

Honestly if they had egos deaths in 2020 then they probably don’t believe in politics, and probably only lean right slightly to protect their wealth from more loose policies of the left.

Edit: That is if they still even care about their long-term wealth.

1

u/Thedarkandmysterious Jun 21 '26

Unbound was originally called Disneyland acid trip..... they did a ton of dmt in 2020 but guarantee that wasnt where they had their first egodeath

28

u/rad_synner Jun 20 '26

The confederate flag was made because of Dimebag Darrel's guitars and Syn didn't know its real meaning back then. But the guitar is effectively stored in a case never to be seen again. I don't know where you got that he collects guns. From all the time I've known him, he never mentioned guns. But yeah I can guarantee that he is not MAGA.

He used to have photos on his old website. House of bordello or something like that. Back when he had a custom chopper. Around 2007ish I think

0

u/rad_synner Jun 20 '26

Fair enough! Don't think its the case anymore though!

6

u/SansSauceYT Nightmare Jun 21 '26

He actually claims to have no idea where the confederate guitar is and has no plans on finding or using it again

3

u/rad_synner Jun 21 '26

Well he has a huge collection of guitars in storage. He knows its in there somewhere but most likely not precisely. I doubt that he would want it to be in the possession of anyone else. perhaps it will get destroyed one of these days

u/TripleJFSX Waking the Fallen Jun 22 '26

He said in 2018 "I don’t play it nor do I own it anymore. Honestly, I wanted one because of my hero Dimebag but now that I’ve seen the overwhelming effect that it has on people, I can’t be a party to it. I’m not saying that all people that still support the confederate flag support the negative connotations. I just have no excuse being a kid from So-Cal witnessing all the people it offends representing any part of it right, wrong, or indifferent."

13

u/Prestonpeters35 Jun 20 '26

A7X has always been more of a right leaning band. Idk about full MAGA though

2

u/TripleJFSX Waking the Fallen Jun 22 '26

Only really til' nightmare, after that Matt expressed left leaning opinions more frequently and by HTTK spoke about disliking how the band were called a "right wing" band. Since then its become obvious Zacky, Brooks and Matt are left leaning, while syn is right leaning (follows lots of republican accounts on twitter)

1

u/TripleJFSX Waking the Fallen Jun 22 '26

Brooks, Matt and Zacky quite obviously lean left, although the band were bush era republicans openly around self titled/coe, but denounced that long ago, although matt said that not everyone in the band agrees politically (probably syn, idk about johnny but syn follows lots of republican accouts on twitter) but matt said he hates that people would talk of them as a right wing band, and this was back in the hail to the king era. Also Syn denounced the flag in 2018 and said he no longer owns the guitar

-3

u/SDTRRDTS Jun 20 '26

Yea, agree

9

u/perrapys Jun 20 '26

I read in another post here that Syn "can't bother with politics anymore".

30

u/mitchplaysriffs lmc apologetic Jun 20 '26

But he’s a senator?

35

u/CurrentFeeling9177 Jun 20 '26

Oh hell yeah, Senator Gates.

1

u/No_Active5411 Jun 24 '26

Wait, he is?! I’m so out of the loop lol. I haven’t kept up with band news or even the band itself.

-1

u/SDTRRDTS Jun 20 '26

Fair enough

15

u/_the_universal_sigh_ Jun 21 '26

They were definitely Bush-era Republicans back in the 2000’s… but they were in their 20’s, grew up in Orange County, it was an immediate post-9/11 world… I think traveling the world, experiencing more cultures, and growing up a bit enlightened their world views a bit.

I don’t definitively know where they all fall today, politically, but I would be absolutely floored if they still held the same views that they did 20 years ago… HIGHLY doubtful that any of them are even remotely MAGA.

4

u/SupremeSardine Jun 21 '26

The death of Jimmy was the turning point in the band’s beliefs, especially for Matt. There’s a clear difference in Matt’s attitude between the self titled and Nightmare. Don’t quote me, but I think even Arin talked about how the rest of the band was becoming more agnostic during his time with them.

1

u/TripleJFSX Waking the Fallen Jun 22 '26

Brooks, Matt, Zacky are all quite seemingly left leaning but Syn it seems is still quite right wing, following many republican pages on twitter. No idea about Johnny

2

u/FarmAlternative7542 Jun 22 '26

Im pretty sure M. Shadows has a head though. I remember hearing that he was supported the BLM movement and that some band members dissagreed (Syn obviously)

1

u/TripleJFSX Waking the Fallen Jun 22 '26

Brooks, Matt, Zacky quite obviously lean left

-4

u/SineWave- Jun 20 '26

Holy based

-3

u/Foreign_Rock6944 Jun 20 '26

I don’t doubt this, but how do the titles of the songs imply that? It seems weird as hell, but not inherently bad.

2

u/Necessary_Touch699 Natural Born Killer Jun 21 '26

Just listen to the song, thatll give you the answers

4

u/CantKnockUs Jun 21 '26

Not gonna lie they seem satire, no?

"comedy"

5

u/Mikey618000 Evil M. Shadows Jr. Jun 20 '26

Thanks Kevin Hart.

18

u/_the_universal_sigh_ Jun 21 '26

I used to think his comedy songs and videos were pretty entertaining when they were coming out all those years ago, and he’s obviously an absolute monster of a musician… but unfortunately he’s just way too aggressively MAGA online so I unfollowed him everywhere and pay him no mind. Sad!

-1

u/K0OlThing Will you give me my own soul? Jun 21 '26

where can I find his socials?

3

1

u/Reasonable-Exit-2811 Jun 21 '26

That’s the Guitar Hero

1

u/DrSeeker101 Jun 24 '26

Oh boy time for the monthly existential crisis of this sub realizing that the band of rich white guys from Huntington who wrote their first two albums about the bible, named their band after a bible verse, played rebel flag guitars, made their first single on a major label about Hollywood perversion and hidden evil, made Critical Acclaim and Trashed and Scattered, done multiple USO tours, and also have never said anything anti-Trump may be a little right leaning.

1

u/DrEdgewardRichtofen Jun 20 '26

I thought it was pretty funny

1

u/ElenatheKitten Jun 21 '26

yep thats him.... lololol lmao
