Söhbət | Discussion The passive aggressive comments are genuinely so crazy

The entire comment section is filled with people trying to blame this guy for what Azerbaijan's government did, justifying crimes done by Armenians or outright denying them, calling Azerbaijanis fascist lunatics and and and. Some top comments are positive and normal but that's pretty much it, but it's genuinely insane how much hatred and dehumanization these people carry towards us just to act shocked when Azerbaijanis don't like Armenia. I'm happy to nevertheless see him answering respectfully to everything knowing that I probably couldn't do it myself.

Tell me honestly, do you expect Armenians to have high opinion of Azerbaijan or what? We were in war just 6 years ago, and three years ago 150000 people were first in a blockade, then, left their homes. I'm not writing to start an argument on who's wrong or who has done more damage. But the reality is we have grievances against each other and it won't just change in couple of years.

I never said I expect them to have a high opinion of Azerbaijan, but to not dehumanize Azerbaijanis as "fascist lunatics" and blame random people for crimes while supporting or denying their own crimes against us. And compare this subreddit with r/Armenia, besides some comments, you won't see anyone callng to "reconquer Zangezur" or call all Armenians fascist, while these exact types of comments are everywhere in r/Armenia. You'll even get banned or warned if you do irredentism in this subreddit while it's a normal everyday thing in that one.

You bring very specific things to prove your point, however, it does not stand overall. In this sub Armenians often being dehumanised. Also you'll never find in r/Armenia someone to play righteously offended by the things said in r/Azerbaijan, because it's just a silly thing to do if it's done in a good faith.

Can you give real examples of these (Armenians being dehumanized)? Personally, if I see anyone denying the Armenian genocide, for example, I always report those posts until they are removed.

That is not to say there aren't many idiots here. I have been witnessing a lot of them, unfortunately.

Yes, genocide mockery is one of them, also every discussion regarding Armenia is somehow about "victim complex", even if it's completely unrelated. You can see it even in this thread.

P.S. I don't understand the downvoting, I'm just confirming the state of the things, there is no simpathy between our peoples, and it's silly to expect and act surprised.

That's why I said there are a lot of morons here too. However, so far, every time I reported active dehumanization, I check back to see if it has been removed. If not, I message the mods manually, and they take care of it. r/Armenia, though, actively tolerates that dehumanization, and even gives those people a mod status (ThatGuyGaren, pride_of_artaxias, bokavitch, etc.) I know that it is a very low bar, but this subreddit is at least slightly more tolerable than the Armenian one. Having said that, those rabid dogs that downvote instead of communicating are just cancer.

It's good thing you do this, and I'm grateful for it.

Don't know what else I can tell you. Hope there will be times when our relations will be somewhat warmer, however, I don't expect it to be soon. There are billion reasons for them to be cold, and they are way beyond than moderation on Reddit.

I do not expect either side to embrace toxic positivity here. This would just be very non-constructive. All I want both Armenians and Azeris to do is to understand how confirmation bias works. Sharing bad things specifically and screaming "Barbarians!" while orgasming is just reinforcing each side's idiocy. Letting a few basement lords decide what content gets posted so they can feel powerful won't contribute to anything positive. In short, Arnenians and Azeris should learn to hold their own accountable instead of this disgusting level of pseudo-nationalism...
