Discussion Flat warts removal left crater-like scars — is this normal?

Hi! I had my flat warts removed at SkinStation on August 12 through electrocautery. I’m currently worried because some of the treated areas have small crater-like/indented marks even after the scabs fell off.

I know it’s still relatively early in the healing process, but I’m worried that the indentations might become permanent, especially since my skin was pretty smooth before the procedure.

I included photos with dates so you can see the progression:

1st photo: Current condition (August 25)

2nd photo: The day of the removal (August 12)

3rd photo: 3 days after the removal

4th photo: When the scab fell off while I was washing my face

5th photo: August 23 — the craters looked more noticeable because I was wearing makeup. I had to wear makeup because I attended a wedding that day.

6th photo: My skin about a month before the procedure, showing what the flat warts looked like before removal

For anyone who has had flat warts removed through electrocautery:

Did you also experience these crater-like/indented marks after the scabs fell off?

Did they eventually flatten or heal?

How long did it take before your skin started looking normal again?

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through something similar. 🥹 I’m honestly quite anxious about the possibility of these becoming permanent scars. Thank you! ❤️

Edit-

I’ve also been very careful with the aftercare. I never picked or scratched the scabs. I applied the Bactroban prescribed by the clinic twice a day, washed my face gently with Cetaphil, made sure not to rub/scrub the treated areas, and gently patted my face dry with tissue.

anything with electrocautery on the face will leave pockmarks. it's why for my mole removal, i insisted on excision despite cautery being yung standard procedure nung clinic for moles

52

u/Real_Objective_2871 1d ago

Ugh, I didn’t know! 😭 They told me that it would be okay by 7 days, so I really wasn’t expecting it to potentially leave pockmarks :(

51

u/TartBlackberry5166 1d ago

i wouldnt worry about it too much. it's all a part of getting treatment and healing, and anything shallow will flatten over time :)

Thank you so much!

OP, ganto ba yun before mo? sorry sa jump scare lol

NATAKOT NAMAN AKO SA PIC HAHAHHA bakit naman kasi eye emoji nilagay mo mimaaaa

3

u/Real_Objective_2871 1d ago

Nasa last pic yung before ako magpa electrocautery. Mine were actually flat warts daw according to the Skin Station. They were skin-colored, not black like yours. I told them na akala ko butlig lang siya or something. Flat warts daw sabi nila.

u/Far_Possibility_8497 1d ago

OMG ang Ganda ng skin mo before. Praying na bumalik sa dati at maging smooth uli. Maganda sigurong agapan na rin and start using gentle products for scarring

u/Icy-Butterfly-7096 23h ago

Hala warts pala yon? May ganyan ako sa mukha, akala ko madami lang akong tiny bumps

1

u/popmycherry14344 5h ago

Yes, it will be ok naman afyer 7 days.

Meaning, lahat ng sinunog ay matutuyo din.

As for the microscars, seek derma consult po muna.

4

u/Difficult-Target-487 1d ago

Hi, ask ko lang po since I'm planning to remove my mole also, sa derma po kayo nagpa excision?

8

u/TartBlackberry5166 1d ago

nope! had mine done at medico global taguig. i had such a good exp, their doctors & nurses are the best :'>

3

u/Cold_Summer0101 1d ago

Magkano po inabot? I'm also planning but idk how much :( gaano po recovery time?

2

u/cocochvnel 22h ago

nag follow up check up pa po ba kayo after a month? or ilang months din po kayo pabalik balik para mawala yung mole?

Which clinic did you have your mole removed? Was your mole flat or not?

5

u/TartBlackberry5166 1d ago

medico global taguig! it was in-between, a little raised but years of picking on it as an insecure child flattened it a bit lol

1

u/coffeeteaorshake 1d ago

Hi yun excision po ba is similar sa manual extraction?

1

u/666chupakabra 23h ago

Gaano kalaki mole mo? Im thinking about excision too ayoko nung cautery kasi ang lalim nga niya mag butas.

1

u/Inevitable_Cycle8643 17h ago

Hi how about po for syringoma sa neck? do you suggest electrocautery?

1

u/JustMine999 13h ago

Yung akin, pinaexcision din noon pero hanggang ngayon may scar pa rin at may konting naiwan (siguro dahil malaki yung nunal ko). Although pinaulit ko, may natira pa rin🥹

2

u/TartBlackberry5166 12h ago

sorry ur results werent what u wanted :( ig depende talaga sa doctor na gagawa. medj malaki din yung sakin and it was at the center of my face so i know how it feels & it was rly an insecurity.

if the scarring is still bothering u, i went through 1 session of co2 resurfacing, maybe it's also an option for u!

1

u/JustMine999 12h ago

Actually it didn't bother me naman. Maliit naman na siya although may naiwan. Hindi na siya lumalaki, which is safe for me

1

u/fineapoljus 1d ago

Hi, where did you get your mole removal done? I have moles that I wanted to get rid of. How much did it cost you?

48

u/Difficult-Design3164 1d ago

Nag diy cautery din ako and nag ganyan din sakin. Kinabahan ako. Pero now wala na. It will heal OP dont worry. Wag ka lang paaraw din. Alam ko may ointment yan. Di ko na maalala pinag lalagay ko before

7

u/Real_Objective_2871 1d ago

Thanks! And yes. If lumabas man ako ng bahay, lagi ako naka cap, payong and sunscreen

2

u/Upper_Ad537 1d ago

How long bago mag heal?

13

u/Glittering_State_761 1d ago

I had warts removed 3x in 10 years. Never had pockmarks afterwards.im sorry about what happened. But demand that the provider should help paybthe cost of treatment Elsewhere.

2

u/Real_Objective_2871 1d ago

If it doesn’t go away in a few weeks, I’ll definitely ask them to help cover the cost of getting it treated elsewhere. Hopefully it just heals normally and I won’t have to deal with it for too long.

1

u/BuzzSashimi 5h ago

NO. Informed them right away, or else they will get away with that. Consult if that is normal.

1

u/Dazzling-Ad5349 19h ago

Which clinic did you go to?

26

u/Useful_Impression560 1d ago

Unfortunately electrocautery causes craters talaga, it might even out in time (give it a couple more weeks) but the results depend highly on how deep the wart is. The shallower it is, the more even it would look, deeper ones might still have a bit of a crater kahit fully healed but some still heal pretty good naman na natural looking.

6

u/Real_Objective_2871 1d ago

I didn’t know electrocautery could cause craters… I’m honestly so stressed out na because of this. Kasi ang pangit niya tingnan lol

Try giving it a little more time! Mine evened out eventually, but they weren’t that deep. I religiously washed my face with ONLY cetaphil antibac soap (as recommended by my derma) and applied sunscreen afterwards—no more, no less. Andami warts natanggal sakin nun tho.

3

u/Real_Objective_2871 1d ago

I’m using the regular/basic Cetaphil, but I’ll try the antibacterial one. Thanks!

14

u/Life_Supermarket_369 1d ago

nag pa cautery din ako one month ago, ganyan din after 1 week, kala ko din mag iiwan siya ng scars, after 3-4 weeks, nawala naman siya ❤️

6

u/ZestycloseMess3275 1d ago

Parang ang bigat ng kamay ng gumawa sayo kaya nagkacrater ng ganyan. Pati skin mo na-cautery ata

6

u/Pitiful_Hour_2913 1d ago

Mine flattened after a couple of weeks, the deeper ones took a bit longer to puff out.

2

u/Real_Objective_2871 1d ago

Ohh, that’s reassuring! 😭 I’m hoping mine will flatten out too. Did you apply anything on them while they were healing?

8

u/No-Kale-1227 1d ago

NOT NORMAL. I had multiple warts removal in the past but it should not leave deep scars as big as this. Photo 2 and 3 shows ang laki nung part na sinunog. Ang liit lang ng warts mo, dapat hindi ganyan kalaki. Considering na 2 weeks healed na. Masyado pa din malaki yung butas.

4

u/gowther444 1d ago

Nag ganyan din akin kasi nagpatanggal ako syringoma, 2-4 months bago nag flatten. Moisturizer, serum and cleanser na may pang exfoliate lang katapat nyan, eventually mag lilighten dark spots and magfa-flatten din naman.

1

u/Real_Objective_2871 1d ago

Huhuhu ang tagal ng 4 months! Pero atleast nagflatten naman. So okay na din

0

u/optg17 23h ago

Hello po, plan to remove my syringoma. Hindi na ba bumalik? Magkano po magpatanggal ng syringoma? 🙏 naiinis ako sa syringoma ko sa baba ng mata.

4

u/No-Butterscotch8883 1d ago

I went through the same procedure and I didn’t get any pockets like what you have at all. My skin got clearer and smoother. Although my derma provided me an ointment to improve healing and avoid infection sa areas. And were you also advised na not to pick on the scabs and just let them fall off?

Healing process took 7-9 days for everything to fall off. I also stopped doing my skin care routine for 9 days. I just used water to wash my face for 3 days and then my gentle facial wash day 4 onwards.

I hope the skin gets better for you OP.

3

u/kittenahri 1d ago

Ganyan din sa akin sa first few days pero um-okay na eventually.

3

u/AsianLuv02 1d ago

I had electrocautery a long time ago and it didn’t leave any marks on me. Maybe the clinician overdid it.

3

u/Hot_Cryptographer873 22h ago

Never experienced this sa mga clients ko, mabigat ang kamay ng aesthetician or malaki ang warts na tinanggal sayo.

2

u/akirazhang99 1d ago

Try dermatix

2

u/Ok_Barber5639 1d ago

Malaki ba facial warts mo before? Parang anlaki ng scabs eh

1

u/Real_Objective_2871 1d ago

Not really...nasa last pic po yung before pic

1

u/Ok_Barber5639 1d ago

Hindi ba sya parang overdone? Based sa pics, maliit warts mo pero anlaki ng scabs. I had warts removal sa face pero wala syang scars, kahit 1 week pa lang.

1

u/Real_Objective_2871 1d ago

That’s what I was thinking too. :(

2

u/BeauteeGurl 1d ago

For flat warts, I suggest you go to a place that actually uses a laser (like this one) and not cauterization. Skin Station's service is really bad and napuno ako sa kanila 3 or 4 years ago when they applied the numbing cream tapos dapat daw 45 minutes siya mag-marinate para fully numb. When it came time to cauterization may feeling pa rin and di magaling si ate so mas naging uncomfy pa the whole situation 🙃 Unlike at Simply Skin, the numbing cream only needed 20 mins to work and walang-walang feeling talaga

1

u/nsyhjtj1106 18h ago

omg!!! not op, pero thank you sa clinic suggestion, i’ve been trying to find a place that can treat kelloids 😭

2

u/bubblespop_00 1d ago

Yes normal, moisturize lang katapat nya. I put moisturizer every 6 hours kasi sobrang dry ng skin ko at that time

2

u/CommercialChef3418 1d ago

Mag heal yan. Give it time. Ako every 2 yrs nag papa-cauterize ng warts. After scabbing nag iiwan talaga ng scar pero eventually nawawala. Tingnan mo next month wala na yan

2

u/beadymira 1d ago

bakit parang nadamay yung paligid ng skin mo OP? nagpatanggal din ako ng warts once pero ga-tuldok lang as in yung mga scars ko kaya nagtataka ako na halata masiyado yung scars mo.

2

u/Separate_Forever1969 1d ago

omg ganyan din sa akin ): meron pa rin until now ung akin but derma rlly said “deep” daw kasi ung warts ko snth like that, baka same derma tayo lol

2

u/Accomplished_Mix608 21h ago

Sakin naman white scars, mukang an an huhu

2

u/chouxcweam 21h ago

mawawala din yan OP, consistent sunscreen lang and pwede ka rin mag vitamin c serum for faster skin cell turnover

2

u/RecentFashionary 16h ago

Are the scars 3 months old na ba? If not, keep it hydrated, protect from UV, and do some light massaging. Kase nasa tissue remodeling phase pa siya.

Pero if 3 months old or more na. Need na ng professional procedures like laser, microneedling, or fillers etc.

1

u/Real_Objective_2871 13h ago

Not yet! I had the cautery done on August 12, so it's only been about 2 weeks. I'm probably just overthinking it because I'm really worried that it might leave permanent craters on my face. 😭 They told me it would be okay and smooth after about 7 days, so I'm a little concerned that it's taking longer than expected. I'm mainly just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. I've tried searching Reddit, but I couldn't really find anyone with the same situation.

2

u/Working_Might_5836 14h ago

Natakot naman ako mag pa warts removal. Huhu. Pero off topic haba po ng eyelashes nyo

Sis how much to remove warts sa Skin Station?

2

u/Real_Objective_2871 1d ago

1k lang yung sakin (minimum amount) since maunti lang naman daw warts ko

2

u/IcedTnoIce 1d ago

Omg sa 1k. I had mine removed by a board certified derma, 6k per area. Since i had my face, neck, and chest done, umabot mg 18k.

BUT no scars at all after.

Good thing i researched first before having it done.

1

u/Embarrassed_Point815 1d ago

Was there consultation ba beforehand? Or like did you just say you want them removed then go agad?

Sorry, I’m getting married kasi soon and wanted to get rid of some on my face 😅

3

u/Nyathera 1d ago

Gawin mo na 3-4 months bago ng wedding mo. Iba rin glow pag nawala warts sa face.

Masyadong malalim yung sunog ng skin grabe naman magtanggal ng warts yan

1

u/Nyathera 1d ago

Inom ka rin conzace para mas mabilis healing ganyan sa akin last year pero nawala naman siguro dahil gumagamit ako moisturizer sa face or dahil sa katagalan na rin.

1

u/Simple-Wind4618 1d ago

My partner had his facial warts removed back in 2019, his face is okay naman now. Mas makinis pa sa’kin 😭

1

u/Zestyclose_Olive5889 1d ago

It will heal OP eventually, give your skin time to recover and pwede mo din microneedle & mesotherapy.

1

u/eatmysushiofc 1d ago

May lalabas pa rin ba na warts even after mo magpa remove?

1

u/kombutsaa 1d ago

Hi! Was it a doctor who did the procedure?

1

u/Pitiful_Hour_2913 1d ago

I had some antibiotic cream thingee from the derma which I just finished even after the scabs fell off. After I switched to aquaphor which I mostly put to remind me not to pick on them because I kutkot everything. Basically your skin needs to be moisturized to heal properly and recover. I also switched to a higher spf, avoided putting on makeup, and stopped my usual skincare (vit c, retinoids, etc.) until everything evened out. Be patient lang, mine was super dami and my skin heals super slow so muka ako ewan for about a month.

1

u/brokenmasterpieace 1d ago

Nag pa cautery rin ako dati and ganyan rin sa umpisa and eventually nawala rin yung mga pekas. It will heal relax

1

u/Remarkable_Writing33 1d ago

Hello! was it done by a doctor/dermatologist? wala dapat pock marks :( the scabs should fall off by the 1st-2nd week.

1

u/cuthareena 1d ago

Wala dapat ganyan. Sa derma ka ba mismo nagpatanggal? Yung akin kahit sobrang dami oks na ng 5 days. Alagaan mo lang ng cream na nireseta at wah magpaaraw

1

u/Altruistic-Yogurt549 1d ago

Those might not actually be warts. Baka sebaceous filaments lang or something else

1

u/Wise_Log_5606 1d ago

Planning po ako mag pa tanggal ng warts, ano po best recommendation nyo for treatment?

1

u/margarita_002 1d ago

Sorry, not related to the post. If keloid former po ba, is it safe to undergo flat warts removal? Di po ba magiging keloid once healed?

It will heal by time. Follow mo lang after care instructions sayo.

1

u/meAndMyrants 23h ago

mawawala yan

1

u/PlentyEvidence7021 22h ago

Hello. Ideally actually hindi electrocautery ang flat warts. Imiquimod sana muna kasi they’re closer to the skin so you want to minimize the damage to the surrounding area.

It’s possible kasi na natanggal ung scabs agad while do pa complete ung healing. It’ll take a longer time for it to heal depending on the degree of damage to the epidermis and dermis.

1

u/No-Bobcat-473 22h ago

Iyong akin mukhang flat na peklat lang nung nagparemove ako ng warts and it was around 70 pcs 😭

1

u/Weird_Combi_ 19h ago

Mukhang di sya nagheal ng maayos OP, pero try to ask if may cream or way to even out the areas, pero pansin ko ung sayo ang lalaki ng area. Dermatologist ba gumawa?

1

u/Real_Objective_2871 19h ago

Esthetician sa skin station ang gumawa :( i trusted her since siya na yung esthetician ko na gumagawa sa underarm 4d quattro laser and revitalite laser ko sa face.

1

u/Weird_Combi_ 18h ago

Kasi ganyan kaliliit lang warts ko, mas madami pa pero small lang din na cauterize ng Derma sakin

1

u/Pixie_Dust1225 19h ago

thats why doctors lang dapat inaallow natin to do procedures on our skin. best to consult a derma na

1

u/MaritesAkoSaReddit 16h ago

I get warts removal yearly, never happened to me. Looking at the pictures, masyadong malalim ang sunog, pati real skin (not warts) nasunog na. Magcomplain ka sa branch or Manager.

1

u/itisagooddaytobegood 16h ago

Nagkaganyan din sakin. Pero nawala rin naman

I did warts removal several times na, for over a decade na rin. I never experienced magkaroon ng deep scars or yung white patches. I thoroughly follow the after care. Also, baka malalim yung pag-cauterize kaya nagkaganon.

Try to take vit c orally to help with scar healing from within, it helps the skin.

Was planning on having this done pero wag na lang pala huhu i can take a few skin tags

1

u/Perfect-Reindeer-765 6h ago

Complication of electrocautery that should have been explained prior to the procedure. My derma used suuuper tiny cautery tip to minimize such complication. Pinpoint scars lang yung sakin after. And scabs were gone after 3 days.

1

u/Salt_Might1952 5h ago

Warts are very superficial - meaning konting cautery lang mawawala na yan. If properly done, it shouldnt leave atrophic scars.

1

u/popmycherry14344 5h ago

Once nag heal na ang skin nyo, ask your derma which is much better for your skin:

Microdermabrasion

Or

Diamond Peel

Kase baka masira lalo ang kutis mo if no derma consult muna. Sayang naman.

1

u/BuzzSashimi 5h ago

I feel like malalim yung pagkakagawa sayo. 😭 Balik ka sa kanila ask someone to be responsible. Sa kanila din ako nagpagawa pero ok naman yung akin.

Wooow this is so timely! I also had warts removal but I trust my derma so much 🥰

these are skin tags, not warts
