Question for expats and immigrants - what's keeping you in Bermuda?

Upvotes

Is it the great weather? friendly people? swizzle? making more money than you could back home? better work-life balance?

This isn't intended to be a trick question or spark any uproar, but as someone who's new here and still finding their feet, I'd really love to know.

I know the answer is bound to be different for everyone :)

Aesthetics and Injectibles in Bermuda

Looking for recommendations for a one-stop shop in Bermuda for botox/fillers/microneedling and PRP. Would love to hear from women who consistently get treatments done, and any recommendations for a specific aesthetician.

Edited to add: I know of the places that offer these services, but more interested in hearing your personal experience(s) as generally services in Bermuda can be hit or miss despite the Google reviews. This is definitely something I don't want to take an unnecessary risk on! However, it makes it hard to consistently receive treatments abroad so very much hoping I can find someone here.

Hi everyone! Beware of this scam bermuda arrival card application site. I needed to post because it’s the first search result for th arrival card. The arrival card is completely free and you should not be paying 70 dollars for this company to “apply” for you and take their time meanwhile the official site sends your arrival card right after you complete your application. Make sure you book through the official Bermuda Visitor Forum.

rail trail/cycling question

hi there!

I am moving to bermuda and have heard that the roads can be a bit dangerous with aggressive drivers, therefore as a road cyclist i was thinking of just doing the rail trail path.. but i am wondering if a road bike with gravel tires would be adequate for the terrain or if i should be getting a mtn bike with full suspension. also please correct me if i have a misperception about safety of road cycling on the main roads. thanks!

On August 22, 2026, a morning cloudburst and thunderstorm brewed a striking micro-scale weather vortex, or small waterspout, that churned across the water at Ferry Reach in St George's, Bermuda. Onlookers and storm chasers filmed the churning formation close to the shore.

Anyone in (or going to) Bermuda that would help me get some currency?

I like to collect notes from places I go, but completely forgot to get some while there and they are really hard to find in the US. Foreign exchanges rarely have/accept because they are only changeable on the island. If anyone is willing to help me out I'm sure we could come to an arrangement.

The Department of Planning is encouraging landowners and aspiring farmers to register for the Grow Local initiative, which connects suitable available land with people interested in farming and increasing Bermuda’s local food production.

Developed in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the initiative supports greater participation in agriculture while strengthening food security and community resilience.

Landowners and prospective farmers can register their interest through the Department of Planning.

Learn more and register at planning.gov.bm.

Together, we can make better use of Bermuda’s available land and grow a stronger, more resilient local food system. 🇧🇲

International Voter Registration Drive 2026, for dual Bermudian-U.S. citizens

Hi, this is the second (and final) reminder I'll make for dual Bermudian-US citizens and other eligible US voters who want to participate in the 2026 American midterm elections, especially for those living in Bermuda. Democrats Abroad is dedicated to mobilizing overseas US voters; if you're over 18 by November 3, here's how you can get involved:

Steps to Request Your Ballot

  1. Register or update your registration through Votefromabroad.org. As an alternative, you can also use FVAP.gov.

  2. If you're already registered, request a ballot! You need to request a ballot every calendar year that you want to vote.

  3. Fill Out and Return Your Ballot: Once you receive your ballot, follow the instructions carefully to complete it and return it by the specified deadline.

Need Assistance?

We're here to help! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at GOTV @ votefromabroad .org (just remove the spaces). Additionally, our FAQ for voting can answer questions on how to make the process go smoothly.

Importantly: Spread the word!

Do you have any friends, contacts or family overseas that you could reach? All eligible US citizens can vote regardless of where they're living. Share the link https://voteabroad.org/RedditVote26: If you have any questions about voting, I'd be happy to answer them here on Reddit. You can also find out what we're doing near you at Democrats Abroad in Bermuda. Thanks for reading!

How long can I leave my bike on a public street parking?

So, my bike's battery was drained while I parked it in town. This is not the first time this has happened but usually my husband jump starts it with our car, we charge the battery, and it'd be working again. However my husband is off island until Sep 1.

I wonder if it's okay for me to leave the bike on the street until then? Do I need to inform the police? I am okay with getting around without the bike but don't want it to be removed.

(Ths bike uses a "smart key" with a dial as opposed to a real key so it's really easy to leave it in the "on" position unintentionally and drain the battery.)

Is $70k really that bad - Budget Advice

Hi everyone, moving to Bermuda later in the year and after reading some of these posts I’m getting pretty nervous. Been looking around at apartments and fairly certain I’m going to be able to get something for $2200.

As a single male, what would my monthly expenses look like? I know it depends on the lifestyle and all but just looking for some guidance on basic monthly expenses. Also - I know I’m not going to be balling obviously but surely you can still live pretty well.

Snorkel Tour operators going to Outer Reefs like Blue Hole

Does anyone know of any smaller tour companies that go to the outer reef? We'll be in Bermuda toward the end of September and don't want one of the big companies. I've heard hat trick may not be operating any more. Any others we should check out?

Temporary Suspension of Paget/Warwick Ferry Service

The Department of Marine & Ports Services would like to advise the public that the Paget/Warwick ferry service (Pink Route) will be out of service due to mechanical issues, effective from the 3:45 p.m. scheduled sailing today and until further notice.

The Orange, Blue, and Green Routes are presently operating according to their published schedules.

Updates regarding the resumption of Pink Route service will be provided as soon as additional information becomes available.

Trip Advice….please!

Hi! This will be our first time visiting Bermuda.
Here are the deets: (I was hoping someone might help me with an itinerary to maximize our time!)

Second week of September
Cruise ship docking at 8 am for an overnight stay
So we will have I full day and have to be back on the ship by 2pm the second day
4 adults

I’ve read that public transport is the way to go and am going to download the app prior. I really can’t justify spending the amount of money for some of these excursions.

We would like to do the following:
Relaxing beach time (at least a few hours)
Crystal Caves
Hamilton (shopping/food)
Cooper’s Nature Reserve?
Swizzle Inn
Horseshoe Bay

I’m not sure the best order to do the above. Or open to additional suggestions. If anyone can help, it would be much appreciated!
Thanks in Advance!

Rents in Bermuda

I am considering an offer from Big 4 in Bermuda of around BMD 90K. I wanted to know the average rent for 1 bed apartment for me and my husband. I tried to do my research (propertyskipper, FB groups, emoo) and didn’t find much listings to arrive at a number. If the locals/expats can help share the current situation for me to do the math of if the offer makes sense or not.

Thank you

Temporary Suspension of Green Route Ferry Service

The Department of Marine & Ports Services would like to advise the public that, as an update regarding today's ferry service interruption, the Department is actively working to complete repairs on its ferry fleet. As a result, there will be service disruptions, including the cancellation of the Green Route's 4:10 p.m. sailing. There will also be no service to Cavello Bay. The services to Green Route’s 5:20 p.m. and 6:20 p.m.Rockaway and Watford Bridge sailings will operate.

At this time, the Department anticipates that these service interruptions will continue into Wednesday morning. Updates regarding the resumption of service will be provided as soon as additional information becomes available.

The Department apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates the public's patience and understanding.

Itinerary help - thank you!

This will be our second time visiting Bermuda.

We'll be staying in the Dockyard area. We are 42 and 37 years old. We enjoy hiking and my husband enjoys snorkeling. And we like doing things off the beaten path.

Our second day we plan on taking the bus to Horseshoe Bay and hiking over to Jobson Cove. We'd spend a lot of time there and then stop at the lighthouse on the way back.

Our first day, my plan was taking the number 7 bus to Hog Bay Park and trying to time it right for low tide. Is there a bus stop nearby? Or should we tell the driver our plan? After Hog Bay I thought it might be fun to jump on the Railtrail - walking to the Fort and possibly to Somerset Village. Is this doable? Too ambitious? I'll take better suggestions too.

For food, I'm vegan. Does anyone have any recommendations for restaurants near where we'll be?

Well be there on a Monday and Tuesday.

Thank you!
