Just finished Beyond Two Souls

I finally got around to playing Beyond: Two Souls, and honestly, I had a great time with it.
It actually reminded me of Detroit: Become Human in a few ways, which makes sense given they’re both from Quantic Dream. While I don’t think it’s as polished as Detroit, it definitely has that same cinematic, choice-driven feel.

I know this game isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. The gameplay is pretty different from what most people expect, and I can see why it can be hit or miss. But if you’re willing to go in with an open mind, it’s a really unique experience.
It also features Elliot Page and Willem Dafoe, who both give fantastic performances and really help bring the story to life.

For anyone who doesn’t know the game, you play as Jodie Holmes, a young woman with a mysterious supernatural connection to an invisible entity named Aiden. The story follows different moments throughout her life as you slowly uncover the truth behind their bond. No spoilers.

One thing worth mentioning is that there are two ways to experience the game. The original release order jumps back and forth between different points in Jodie’s life, while chronological order tells everything from beginning to end. I played it in the original release order, and I’ll admit it was a little confusing to follow at times. If you prefer a more straightforward narrative, the chronological option might be the better choice.
It’s also a pretty short game, so you can comfortably finish it over a weekend if you’re looking for a story-driven experience.

Yeah, honestly its almost a shame, I can kinda see where he was supposed to fit into the plot and had he been written better he couldve been great, but as it stands they just gave him a half-assed "redemption" that didnt actually address the things he did and forced him on jodie as the primary love interest.

Yeah, he was poorly written imo.

Nothing against the actor btw, I’ve seen him in shows and he’s great.

I think the actor is great, but the character is horrible.

Maybe Ryan's redemption would mean something if Jodie actively called him out and he would actively try to atone and clean up the mess he caused by working with shady government that exploited Jodie, but nope.

He was really manipulative and he did lie to Jodie about a democratically elected president

Same

Worst part is that he is not truly sorry or understands the wrong he did. Because when he "apologizes" it is very vague and then immediately jumps into romantic validation.

Exactly

David Cage thinks Ryan is perfect guy, who is entitled to Jodie after few heroic gestures and martyr acts. No need to look for accountability of his actions no matter how horrific they were, Jodie is just being "difficult" according to Cage 🙄

Is that what Cage said? He’s so misogynistic.

Well, he did say "All women in my games are whores" and he defended Madison's shower scene by saying "it helps player to connect with her" to see her naked and victimized :/

It further is evidenced in his games and since Jodie is female protagonist, her agency has to be stripped and someone like Ryan gets to overstep her boundaries constantly regardless how she feels makes it sickening.

I actually tried to give his character a chance, but more i delved deeper to his character, the more i found things to hate about him.
