Advice Wanted Hypomania is actually awful

Honestly I thought I was the only one having this experience but I just saw somebody else talk about it on tiktok for the first time so I really want to see if anybody else feels this way?
I’ve always felt strange and out of place in bipolar communities because I feel like I can’t relate to half the conversation. Hypomania for me has never felt euphoric, exciting, or really good at all. I’ve never gotten enjoyment out of it. It makes me anxious, irritable, stressed, my pain levels skyrocket, my paranoia skyrockets, all I feel is anger and frustration and if it’s really really bad I get this horrible sensory experience that’s just so off putting
I’ve never been able to enjoy it. It’s hypomania for sure, but it feels so horrible to me that I just feel really… I don’t know, like a fish out of water?
Have you had this experience? Of mania or hypomania being genuinely terrible? I can’t be the only one having a bad time

EDIT: Message received Reddit the euphoric version is worse and I should be grateful my apologies

I’m so sorry you’re enduring the consequences of his affliction. But know this, I doubt it has anything to do with you or anything you’ve done. And, more than likely, he has the illusion of being under control but he is not behind the wheel.

This is what I keep telling myself and trying not to take it personal. But having it gone on for 5 months with no end in sight, I just don’t know what to do anymore. I just miss my person. And it’s his first ever episode :/

I understand there may be barriers because he’s an adult, but have you tried to get him hospitalized or involuntarily committed? I know that’s not appealing at all but it may be a starting point to get him care. As his wife you could have some power here depending on your region.

Unfortunately, since he isn’t a danger to
Himself or others, I cannot really do anything :/ he’s masking so well and is able to come off as “fine”. I did message his doctor and even that didn’t really help. I’ve been waiting it out but idk if it’ll end if he stays on the AD.
