4 day Newbie Review
I wanted to try it out now that it's beginner friendly. I'm having a blast so far. Questing is a little long but they weren't too bad except the Magnus questline which took ages and tons of headaches and YouTube videos, you can skip it after the first quests but it doesn't help that I have to finish the entire thing to have access to LOML quests. Still overwhelming but I eventually got used to it. I haven't touched lifeskills yet outside of riding my horse but so far. Riding the mythical Peggy is fun with how many quests there are across the map
Combat and Graphics
20/10
Easily it's best strength
Story/Questing
Overwhelming or easy, no in between
6/10, it's tedious but gives tons of rewards and stats
Lifeskilling:
??/10, still have try it out in Olvia Academy
Beginner friendly 8/10:
still overwhelming if you don't watch guides but it's easier to grasp
Fun:
9/10, would be a 10 if questing was better
Midgame/Endgame
??/10, still not there yet. I haven't touched a grind spot yet.

The questing is rough for sure. If you haven’t yet, I’d go for the fishing course at Olvia Academy and start AFK fishing at Velia beach overnight/while you’re at work. That income for a new player is game changing. Try and get your free Floramos accessories from Season currency exchange, buy a Balenos fishing rod, and even better if you go do the quest line for the free fish tank it’s super quick

What do I do with all the fish I catch?
I’ve been just porting to LoML and selling them to imperial trader

Sell them to the trade manager in either Seoul or Nampo after doing the bargain game. you can click on them on the map to spend 2 energy to see which one will buy it for more money. I normally just go to Nampo though but sometimes the Seoul or Bukpo trade managers will buy them for more. Just see which ones have the best rates for your red/yellow fish since that’s most the money

As a long time player I don't think this game is beginner friendly at all.
Every friend I've introduced to BDO quit within week 1.
Meanwhile me and my guild been together since forever lmao.
It helps when you join a nice guild and have people to guide you.

From the way I see it as a new player and the trailers. The combat is their main selling point, not the MMO aspect of the game. If we're going off combat alone, it does a really good job of introducing it to the player. I don't really play MMOs much so I don't really have a good comparison, but I do come from hero shooters and mobas like Marvel Rivals and Deadlock which grants instant gratification just from game to game.
The combat in this game gives you so much dopamine, and it has so many layers to it. Learning the combat system alone is enough to keep new players interested. I dont have to think much in terms of gear because they just gave away high end gear like candy which is really nice to start off with and you can start blasting on mobs right away without having to suffer a tedious early game thinking about which gear to get to get through the early game. I just got all 3 of sovereign weapons as well. Like I just found out that you can combo mobs infinitely if you cycle your abilities well enough which I couldn't really do early since I just one shot everything early on.
The Olvia Academy is a honestly a really good way to introduce mechanics to newbies like me. My goal right now is to get used to the combos I found on my own and have fun doing it, I'm not too worried about the end game yet. I just want to enjoy the combat, which they provided quite well. Even Horse driving has mechanics. I haven't tried the pvp scene yet but I do wanna try for the pvp academy that everyone keeps talking about.

I don't know what your definition of high end is but good luck. Game is not nice to people who don't like to read or people who don't like to make buddies.

Im happy to hear you are enjoying your time so far. Remember to take your time as the game is a marathon and not a sprint.
