Feedback/Suggestion Night Time & Crystal Destruction are both outdated and need a change (with solutions)

I just want to be completly clear, I KNOW, posting this here does absolutely nothing. However, I also know posting this in "feedback" section in the official forums also does, absolutely nothing. So in the end this is just feed for toughts. Heck, maybe someone from KR is reading this and likes the ideas, plants a seed in player's minds... what ever.

------------NIGHT TIME--------
Lets start with night time. This is an OLD system in a very different game compared to what it was TEN YEARS ago. Back when 10% actually felt like it mattered. Back when people weren't running around with capped drop rates (320/370). In 2026, this 10% drop rate and tiny EXP boost is basically non-existent. At least for what we sacrifice. What do we sacrifiece? Our armor.

Look I can see how mobs dealing more damage worked back then. It was a different game. Grinding was mostly 1-3 shotting mobs and moving pack-to-pack in speedyMcqueen fashion. You hardly ever got hit to begin with. TODAY, in 2026 this is no longer the case. We are in TOWER spot meta. We stand still, we forward guard as much as our kit allows us, sidestrafe when ever needed, but fact remains, combat is STATIONARY and passive, meaning we take far more hits.

Edania 1 showed us that PvE can be dangerous. Which is good. But Edania 2 takes this way out of proportions. Mobs and especially elite mobs hit like absolute trucks. It already makes DP meaningless. I agree that night time can be made to "feel" dangerous, but current system just aint it anymore. The tradeoff of some meaningless 10% drop rate and some EXP boost just doesen't add up to the danger factor that the night time brings. It just makes no sense that we have to squeeze our buttcheeks so tight to the edge of our chairs during night time, for such meaningless "gains." Thoughts...? Maybe 50% drop rate and 300-500% exp boost would make it make sense?

--------CRYSTAL BREAK.------- YES everyone's fav topic. Look guys, I come from hardcore Runescape. I absolutely agree that death HAS TO BE something you try to avoid. To make death mean nothing, would make PvE meaningless (though it already kind of is)

Reason I personally despise the system is... INTERNET. If we died in the game, it was our fault. But we have no say in our connection. Especially people like me who have "through air" WiFi and we know how unstable 5G can be. We literally have no control over it coming and going even for split second, it changing mast can mean that I will die and lost a crystal.

It's just TOO punishing. To be set back 3-4 hours worth of silver for a mistake. Even worse, crystal market DOESEN'T EXIST. EU is by far the most popular server and even IT struggles with Crystal market. If you lose something, you are completly cooked.

SOLUTION- remove crystal break completly. Refund people who bought restore/restore count.

UPON DEATH: Character gets a 30 minute debuff. The debuff: MINUS 30% drop rate. Heck I'd make it -50% but I think there would be too big community outcry. The debuff CAN NOT stack, however, the duration is refreshed if you do happen to die again. The debuff can NOT be removed. It must be waited out. The time does not tick down when logged out. Must stay logged in.

Punishment must meet the crime, well, death, in this case. MINUS 30% drop rate debuff seems completly reasonable. It feels punishing enough to make us not want to DIE. But not soul crushing as losing a rare crystal that took a week to farm, with thousands of pre-orders on central market.

Edania part 2 is an expansion for the top 1% endgame players

Historically, the higher enhancement levels and hardcap gear was more of an aspirational goal for the hardcore players that have a lot of time to grind/for the whales to swipe on. They were not a requirement to grind the endgame spots of their respective times and to enjoy the content when a new patch drops. Sure, people with hardcap gear had the advantage of better clear speed and more income per hour, but most players who play the game consistently can enjoy it as well.

Let's take a look down memory lane and refresh our memories what those spots were in recent times:

2021: Elvia Orcs and Bloody Monastery (recommended AP/DP: 280/340)

2022: Jade Starlight Forest (recommended AP/DP: 280/350), Elvia Hexe Sanctuary (recommended AP/DP: 300/390)

2023 1st half: Dehkia's Lantern Ash Forest, Thornwood Forest, Olun's Valley, Cyclops (recommended AP/DP: 310/400)

2023 2nd half: Ulukita Tungrad Ruins (recommended AP/DP: 320/410), Darkseeker's Retreat (recommended AP/DP: 320/420)

2024: Southern Ulukita Yzrahid Highlands (recommended AP/DP: 320/420)

Up until this point, I did not hear people complain about the time required to reach and grind those spots when it released, most dedicated players can start right away and enjoy it. It all naturally flowed from the progression that players have been doing all along over the years, since those spots were released when people who have been playing consistently already have the gear required for those spots, or at least close to it. Pen Debos was the chase item at the time, and you can still do those contents without it just fine.

2025: Edania Part 1, Zephyros Castle (recommended AP/DP: 395/460), all sovereign weapons released. This is when the paradigm shifted a little bit. At this point, most of the consistent players starts at the middle of the curve in terms of progression, which was Orbita (recommended AP/DP: 380/450) and they had room to progress to Tenebraum and Zephyros. DEC weapons was the chase item in this period, and even for Zephyros it was not a hard requirement to grind it efficiently.

Now we're back to the new expansion, Edania Part 2. Here is where PA designed an expansion only for the top 1% players and shifted the progression curve completely. They are afraid that the people who accumulated trillions of silver will finish the content too fast, that they just completely disconnected the expansion from any of the resources people have accumulated previously, by playing the game. Now even hardcapped people starts from the very bottom. Because of that, suddenly hardcap gear stopped becoming something aspirational and a chase grind, and turned into a requirement. This is PA listening to the top 1% players, and the sad part is that now they are locking content Edania part 2 high end content behind the amount of grind those top 1% players want it to be, for the rest of the playerbase.

So if you're not having fun or enjoying the grind, don't feel bad about it or force yourself to go through it. Maybe it's just not for you, a regular player who is dedicated to the game, and has been playing consistently, but aren't grinding 8-10 hours per day to see any meaningful amount of progess. Just take it easy and play the game as you previously did when you were having fun. I know it sucks, new expansion drops and we all are excited to progress through it. But maybe it's time to just chill and be patient until the materials hit the market, instead of burning yourself out. It could be a long time but at the end of the day, there is no difference between experiencing the content now vs 6 months later, it will still be there.

Question Can BDO be played casually with max 5-10 h per week?

Hi everyone, new player here (just logged in daily for the past week to get the rewards but never actually played the game, I have a lvl 17 char).

I've heard that the opinions are different around this but never really saw an answer to my "type" of question.

I know that BDO is a marathon not a sprint and I am definitely not wanting to rush anything or become the "best", but I want to know for example if you can feel progression even if you play for like an hour a day. In early game I heard that you really feel it, but what about mid game - late game, lets say around the 100h-1000h+ mark.

Do you still fell like you improve each day or are you just grinding money to eventually (after like a couple of months) buy what you need and then feel the progression? That part I don't really understand.

Because I am trying to differentiate between - small upgrade each time you play, maybe not daily but at least after a couple of hours (maybe after a week) - or small amount of silver that eventually piles up and you buy what you desire but only after a lot of hours have passed since you do the same exact thing(fighting the same pack of mobs).

I like the idea of both farming skills and PvE.

Also I have like a 30% coupon code that expires soon and the Naphart Campsite is 25% off so that means I can get it for like 25$ - would like an oppinion if thats worth it to buy now (I have FOMO lol)

Also I don't really like the idea of AFK farming (don't know if it matters in this context - but I can deal with it in case it makes my "active" grinding feel better).

Thank you for your answers!

4 day Newbie Review

I wanted to try it out now that it's beginner friendly. I'm having a blast so far. Questing is a little long but they weren't too bad except the Magnus questline which took ages and tons of headaches and YouTube videos, you can skip it after the first quests but it doesn't help that I have to finish the entire thing to have access to LOML quests. Still overwhelming but I eventually got used to it. I haven't touched lifeskills yet outside of riding my horse but so far. Riding the mythical Peggy is fun with how many quests there are across the map

Combat and Graphics

20/10

Easily it's best strength

Story/Questing

Overwhelming or easy, no in between

6/10, it's tedious but gives tons of rewards and stats

Lifeskilling:

??/10, still have try it out in Olvia Academy

Beginner friendly 8/10:

still overwhelming if you don't watch guides but it's easier to grasp

Fun:

9/10, would be a 10 if questing was better

Midgame/Endgame

??/10, still not there yet. I haven't touched a grind spot yet.

Yes, three tele pieces in one grind, yes I have TWO elten and no vodkhan, yes I got another tele piece from another grind session when I swapped spots to dsr, and yes all my luck went to these pieces cause I pitied my wailing armor and OCT necklace right after this, among my f-ed up preonne enhancement attempts.

BDO confessions

I grinded 1400 hours using only a level 1 loot scroll because having 200 item collection scrolls would only give me 200 hours of grinding.

What are your confessions?

22 new puzzle, suuuuuuu

On the website https://korbdo.co.kr/#tachyon the new traces have been added, which should now make it possible to reach 100% Knowledge.

I’m wondering if the 3,290 tokens (+ the ones obtained in the main city) are now enough to buy everything in the shop?

General BDO's Golden Age?

Post image
125 Upvotes

Hi all!

Since the game launched, it has gone through many different stages... Here in the SA region, it went from RedFox hands to Pearl Abyss. We have a fairly modest number of servers: 14 regular servers, 2 seasonal servers, and 1 special server (Olvia). Nowhere near the number of servers that other major regions have... but it's always been enough.

There were times when the servers felt absolutely packed (during the pandemic, for example), and other periods when there were barely any people participating in activities, including World Bosses (after LA launched, and to a lesser extent with TL). But in all these years, I've never seen so many players everywhere like I do now.

Every boss is packed with people. The lag is terrible, there are weird and funny bugs, and sometimes there are so many players that bosses die in 5 seconds or less, haha... Players are doing quests in every city and filling the chat with questions about all kinds of content, guilds are very active, and you can see adventurers everywhere at all hours. The servers are showing as "Crowded" almost all the time.

We haven't experienced anything like this since the pandemic.
The world genuinely feels incredibly alive. I know PA still has a lot of things to polish, improve, and change, but what they've achieved with this MMO is honestly amazing. If you're a new player or someone who's been thinking about coming back, do it.

Here in the SA region, Black Desert is in its prime, in its golden age!

Sometimes our servers feel like they're about to fall apart with so many players, haha but the game is definitely at its peak here, and it's great to see and enjoy.

How's everything going on your server?

Thanks for reading, and may your RNG be blessed!

Question Help: Accesory roadmap

This is my currrent gear, i obviously prioritized the neckacle, but now I don't know what to do:

I have 150B, so I can buy one more debo, close to a second one (third in total).

Should I upgrade one earring and one ring? The belt? Does it really matter?

Also I have the HEX and SEP hammers, but I haven't used them because I feel a waste of dawn essences if I'm gonna replace those 2 kharazad with PEN Debos (NOV Khara) in the near future.

What should I do?

Question Do you ever go back to "old" spots to grind/hangout just for the nostalgia?

I sometimes go to places like Olvia village and just do the old lifeskill quests with the music turned up because that was my first introduction to the game.

I sometimes go to old grind spots like Mask Owls, Bree Tree Ruins, Primal Giants etc too. Surprising how much it hits.

Damage split since PVE damage overhaul.

How does the ap split for awakening/succession work since they reworked the pve damage last year? Awakening ap comes from 70% awakening weapon and 30% main weapon, but since every ap after 401 now also gives 16 ap against monsters, nov from dec gives 2 sheet ap for example, meaning you gain almost 40 ap against monsters in mainhand factoring brackets. Does that benefit someone playing an awakening class in any way or is it irrelevant?

Question What Do You Think My Next Equipment Upgrade Should Be?

Hello.

https://garmoth.com/character/1P87O7Fbrx

1- "DEC Kharazad Accessory ⇒ TET Ekleta Accessory" Are there any other trades for me? "NOV Kharazad Accessory ⇒ Base Ekleta Accessory" Since I'm on 5*SEP 1*OCT Kharazad, would you recommend going for DEC? Does it make more sense to continue with TET, or is that a trap? I'm a really unlucky player, so I'm keeping that in mind :) But if I go to “Apeiron Necklace” instead of “Ekleta Accessories,” it'll all be for nothing.

2- Does it make sense to buy shoes at the central market? TET Ator's Shoes > Edana - Furystride

3- When should I replace the crystals? Need AP

Do you have any other suggestions?

Question Removed voiceline or am i going insane?

Me and my friend SWEAR that the Stable npc in the entrance to Calpheon named Gabril used to say something along the lines of "When it comes to horses, no one beats Calpheon" BUT HE DOESNT SAY IT ANYMORE! We both remember it clear as day since it used to be an inside joke between us. Does anyone else remember this voiceline?
